Could common sense possible prevail!
I don't even want to go into why arming teachers is bad idea...
Gee, can we hope that common sense is actually found in some places?
There are certain qualities and characteristics that individuals have that go
into the military and police force type jobs. That was not put on the job
description for teachers today or in the past. Will that mean that teachers who
don't qualify to hold, operate and use a gun proficiently will not be
qualified to teach? This will be another thing the Charter and Private schools
can use to disqualify public school teachers who are the majority of teachers in
the United States of America. This will not increase the learning of children
if every teacher has a weapon in the classroom. We have to reevaluate this
process. Will teachers be required to go on bivouac too and cook meals on an
open stove every three months to qualify to use their weapon in the prone,
standing and other positions around corners and down the hallways? It
is not just shooting a weapon at a fixed target that qualifies people in a
defensive mode. Those can't be met with the time teachers have to spend
hourly to educate and be trained themselves in just school practices.
