The fact is there ARE women in construction jobs where heavy lifting and
strength is required. For instance, the Telephone companies hire women for
construction work who can do the work required for the job. Women who can do the
work well, keep their jobs but other women who cannot do the work, fail. Some
women are as strong as men - others are not. That is the BIG difference!
You know when I was younger I was pretty strong and no matter what job I had I
always ended up doing heavy lifting whenever there was some to do. I resented
it because the smaller less strong people always got the easier assignments for
the same near minimum wage I was getting. Look around, I only see
young women hired as office assistants at doctor's offices. That's age
AND gender discrimination. And usually lookism too. I would have killed for a
job like that so I could have studied a little at work. Just sit there an smile,
haaa. Not for you, you can lift heavy stuff all day..... There's lots of discrimination out there and I don't question the
article a bit. But there's more to it that just one point of view.
