The benefits of fossil fuels is not at issue here. The problem is with the
focus on the benefits of fossil fuels on Earth Day does not reflect the intent
or purpose of Earth Day no matter how people try to spin it. While smoking
tobacco provides jobs to laborers in Southern States and calms millions of
people under stress, problem here is like celebrating the benefits of smoking
tobacco on a Cancer walkathon.
Earth Day has become just as politicized as this poster contest. If you want to
get rid of poster contests sponsored by the mining lobby, fine. But you should
get rid of Earth Day celebrations too.
