I'm very impressed with the Parkers.
What a backhanded comment. It seems their intention is to make peace, but that
comment is pretty backhanded. "I don't feel like he should
be held responsible for what happened that day...Were there missteps in the
raising of his son? Possibly."To not put blame on the parent and
to come back with saying there may have been missteps in how they raised him is
out of bounds. You can't say you don't blame the parent but then say
they made some missteps in raising their child. Raising kids who are healthy
are difficult let alone kids with disabilities. I am pretty sure if
this father knew this shooting was going to happen he would've prevented
it. just like any decent parent.
Sundance,It was certainly not "out of bonds" for the Mrs Parker to
gently raise a question about the parenting of a monster who brutally married
her child. However, your decision to judge her reaction to a situation most of
us cannot imagine is definitely "out of bounds.".
Parents can make a difference. And they can mess up. I have seen poor
parenting and good parenting and the results of each.No parent will
be perfect, but I believe that anyone who brings a child into this world should
spend more time searching and learning about how to be a good parent than the
time they spend on, say a hobby, or in front of the TV. There are great
resources out there. Unfortunately, very few make the effort. And if you came
out of a troubled home, you need to make an extra large effort to learn how you
can be a good parent. Folks from troubled home environments will have learned
a lot of bad habits and behavior patterns that will need to be modified and
improved if the cycle of behavior that caused the problems are to be avoided in
the future, my experience is that this is difficult, but can be done.

Mrs. Parker is wise in letting someone more qualified to bear that burden and
make that judgement do so. At this Easter season, I applaud her understanding
of the Atonement, and am glad she is at peace.
The fact is, Adam Lanza had access to weapons and ammunition of a type that
allowed such horror. And we can change this.
