This team is being coached into mediocracy at best. Milsap not playing in the
4th despite being the best Jazz player on the floor in the 1st half. No regular
rotations. These players do not know what their roles are and that is a
Good grief. How in the world it's taken Tyrone this long to figure out
that Hayward and Burks might be a good combination is beyond me. Now, he
can't play these guys for 20 minute stretches. We've seen that
they'll lose their legs at the end of games if Ty plays them that way.Ty is guessing at best on lineups. Is there a worse coach in the
If we'd have started Burks, Hayward, Millsap, Jefferson, and Favors all
year, with Kanter, Mo, Foye, Junkyard, and Evans backing them up, would we have
lost a single game?Corbin's gotta GO!
Based on on-court play, Burkes and Hayward has been the best back court the Jazz
have fielded all year. It is not as if Corbin hasn't seen these guys play
together before to see this. Frustratingly, he has simply ignored this reality.
While Burkes makes a lot of mistakes on both ends of the court (lazy entry
passes, missing switches on D), he has the athletic tools to be a very good
defender. Now, if Corbin can only get over his love affair with Jefferson...
Why is it an unlikely tandem? Most fans can see that it was working months
ago.Play Millsap, sit Al, Let the young guys play. If Ty can't
see that then he is the problem.
Corbin is in all-out panic mode. He doesn't know what to do with his
players.- Basketball is a game of match-ups and Corbin seems to
routinely put players in match-ups that are disadvantageous to them.-
Basketball is a game of energy and he keeps energetic players (eg: Burks,
Carroll, Kanter, Evans) on the bench.- Basketball is a game of structure
and control and he continues to highlight Mo who has neither attribute.-
Basketball is a game of confidence and he keeps players uncomfortable and
uncertain.Has he lost the players? Several of them sure don't
seem to play with as much passion as they did earlier in the season.I was a staunch Corbin defender his first two years but he has really
disappointed me this year. Coaches rarely, if ever, win games. But they can lose
games. I can easily think of half a dozen games Corbin has lost this year.
That's the difference between a 6-seed and a lottery position.
As long as Corbin keeps changing lineups and rotations, this team will remain
mediocre at best. Sometimes change is necessary. However you don't have
to change your lineup/rotation every time the team loses a couple of games. By
now he should know what his players can do and what situations are best to put
them in. He shouldn't need to keep changing the lineup to figure that
out.Part of this off-season's shopping list may need to include
a head coach. Especially one that won't panic as easily as Corbin.
Corbin...is the greg ostertag of coaching...he is testing lineups...during the
NBA season...instead of the pre-season...he always revert back to his
vets...rather than trust his up and coming guys...to be honest...his unfair
treatment...might have caused Raja to badmouth him...i mean come on...Kanter
played great a few games...and then a 5 minute game...Demarre an energy
guy...not playing...does he even know the skills of his players?...i just
wish...that Favors Kanter Hayward Burks and Demarre would not be discouraged
with this...because if they did...they would be bolting out of
here...Corbin...does not have a solid system since he is still tinkering...still
playing with his lineups...this is technically his third season...his first was
when Jerry got out...and he is still tinkering with his lineups?...what kind of
coach is this? his record is because of his players...his players won it for
him...not him outcoaching the other coach...not his system winning it...its
broken down plays that his players finish...
Please Release Ty and let him go back to doing Milk Commercials. His team plays
as soft as milk. Yes keep playing big Al. Give Paul more minutes, and just let
the young players sit on the bench because that is what will make them want to
enter another contract with the Jazz with Ty ( I don't have a clue )
Corbin. Swallow your pride Greg and at least spin some tale why you want to move
Ty to the front office.
See what works...how about a new coach and GM that will make a trade.
I'm going to give Ty the benefit of the doubt and say that the guys in the
FO want Al on the floor no matter what...either that or Ty has no clue what is
going on, because Al is hurting the jazz more than he is helping...same goes for
Foye!Starting lineup should be:WilliamsBurksHaywardFavorsKanterGive these guys 36+ minutes a night
and let MIllsap and Jefferson fight for their job back. At this point of the
season, I say tank and position for the draft. It is disappointing, but the way
they've been playing lately frankly if the players don't care, then I
don't either. Hopefully the jazz go all-in on youth next
year...you don't draft guys in the lottery (and trade your star player) to
just waste their development by having them come off the bench. I think all 4
young guys can become an amazing cohesive unit if they had an offense and
defense tailored for them. I think Hayward, Burks, Kanter and Favors can all
become All-stars. They all have that ceiling and seem to have the drive, they
just need the minutes.
Hayward, Burks, Kanter and Favors. the names echo throughout these boards...why
can't Corbin get his act together? These players deserve better, they are
thr future of the Jazz.
Where have we heard this before. Each time we hear about more minutes for the
young players, we get the failed nucleus the bulk of the time. If the Jazz
don't resign one of the two bigs (Millsap or Jefferson), will we really
know what we have in Favors and Kanter outside of potential? I mean if these
guys aren't developed or don't play the minutes then how do we know
who they are? Maybe they are just talented guys like many in the NBA who
won't live up to all that. If the nucleus that we have now goes and the
others don't develop, then we will have more contracts to decide upon in a
few years, relative to overpaying less productive options by then, or completely
starting over in a few years time.
I think the young players need more playing time! at least they play hard!
I believe the Jazz problem boils down to the first team act like divas that do
not play together as they should (the routine is fall behind in the first and
third quarters, until the second team hustle brings them back)- they want their
individual stats which means poor effort on defense and a selfish offense which
prefers to shoot or play 1 on 1. Why? The combo of Jefferson, Mo,
Foye, and Marvin does not work inside out very well. The centerpoint,
Jefferson, is basically lazy and soft (avoids contact). The guards want to
launch 3's as the primary offense then everything stops when All gets the
You have to see if Burks can play point guard. He is young and athletic. We know
that Hayward can shoot. Favors and Kanter have to play. It does look like they
are deciding which of MSap and AJ they will keep. At a new salary of 20 Mill,
Jefferson is way beyond "Macy's. MSap could be way more expensive as
well. Marvin Williams has been playing better. The "smoke will clear"
after the next two games in Texas. After the next two home games, they will be
down to the final ten. The Lakers will be down to ten games as well. The Jazz
should be down by two or three to the Lakers with ten to go. It would appear
that it is over for the Jazz and that they need to be worrying about next year
and the ten expiring contracts.
I am with Joe5. I have defended Corbin a lot, because I felt he needed a chance
to show what he could do. He has had his chance. He is still playing with
lineups at the end of the season. Those things should have been figured out in
October, November, December, and January. I never agree with
tanking. It becomes a habit for teams that don't know how to win.
However, I think the only way we can ensure that we tank the rest of this season
is to give the most minutes to the players who have been receiving them. My bet
is that by playing the young guys, we will actually have a positive end to the
season.Foye is only effective when he is hitting at least four
3-pointers per game at a rate higher than 40%.Marvin Williams has had
about 3 good games. He needs to go.With more confidence, Hayward will be
an all-star.Carrol should be re-signed.Mo Williams should come off
the bench, or go to another team.Jeremy Evans looked really good when he
played this year. He even showed some range on his jumper.
