As one cougar fan, I applaud the utes efforts in getting your RPI up to 155 and your record to .450. You went from monumentally bad to just bad. Please consider this post a pat on your back. Proud of you brothers!

Stick a fork in 'em Rock, the Utes are done.

Finishing 10th in the conference and having to play 3 games in 3 nights was too much to expect from a team that struggled to score 60+ points on a good night.

Thanks to the Utes for an exciting week! Loved the way our seniors left it on the floor and can't wait for next year when our Freshman 4 are soph's...

Most important thanks goes to Coach K2...dude...you can recruit and coach!

Chris B...you da man! Best fan ever..

See y'all in the fall! Hoping Whit can get it together...

    Go UTES!!

This team is really going to feel the loss of Washburn and Dubois. I love how the media is making it out to be the resurrection of the might utes basketball program. It is all about the recruiting now for Utah. Any good players coming in?

Nice job Utah. Great to see the program turning around. Sets up for a great BYU/Utah basketball game next year.

I am a BYU fan that also likes to see Utah do well when playing other teams. There were more of us on both sides before Urban and Hall made it all about disrespect and hatred.

And how did your team do in their tournament?

Congratulations to Utah, on a very good run in the Pac 12 Tourney. Now it is up to Weber to get a team from Utah in the NCAA Tourney.

If all I had to go off of was the media and ute fans, I would have thought they were making noise in the big dance, not the Pac 10.2 tourney hahahaha! USC is a joke, and Cal likes to choke.

"USC is a joke, and Cal likes to choke."

How did your team do in their WCC tournament? I believe they ran into that juggernaut, the U of San Diego. Talk about a "joke", as you would say.

"Some men see things as they are and ask why; I dream of things that never were, and ask why not." Nice column, Rock, but the quote is from Bobby Kennedy, not Jack.

Meanwhile BYU is one and done, Utah played on, and the PAC 12 will probably have five teams in the NCAA Tournament.

Memo to BYU fans: Your team can't even compete with the big boys in the WCC. They can't even compete with the bottom feeders!

Haters gonna hate, that's what they do. As for me, I will take this end of a season ALL DAY LONG! This was a lot of fun.
    Go Utes!

doesn't really matter all that much how we got there, bottom line

    RPI
    #69 BYU(21-11) NIT bound
    #152 Utah(15-18) couch potato bound

8th straight 20+ win season for BYU
6th losing season in the last 8 for Utah

    149-145 series lead, 7 straight, 11 of 12

    BYU owns U in basketball

    Get used it!

A head to head lead of 149 to 145 isn't even close to "owning"another team. Fact is, it took Utah's decade long meltdown for the the Y to barely pull ahead in roundball. Shall we discuss NCAA tourney records? Your team has NEVER even been to a Final Four, less championship game. BTW, owning another team is a head to head record of 56 wins vs, 34 losses on the gridiron; it's also known as domination. Thanks for playing.

    RE: Skywalker
Using RPI, you'd say that BYU is a better team than San Diego. When a team beats you two out of three? They own you, RPI or not. BYU is not better than San Diego.

More important to fans than RPI is how these teams ended the year. BYU ended the season heads down, wondering how they fell short of expectation, and with fans discouraged about next year. Utah ended the season on a high note. They exceeded expectations, brought positive light to the program, and left fans excited about next year.

actually BYU is going to end by playing in the NIT, while Utah might make it to the CIT or end losing in a blowout to Oregon. up to this point, BYU ended going 3-5 in its last 8 and made the final 6 of its conference tournament. Utah ended going 4-4 in its last 8 and made the final 4 of its conference tournament in a more difficult conference.

But props to Utah for winning 2 and making the week somewhat interesting even for the BYU fans. when the high-seed usually wins, the power conference tourneys are actually pretty lame to outside fans.

Great way to end a season which brings plenty of hope for a return to glory.

As a Cougar, I am proud of my brothers on the hill and have no doubt that you will soon return to NCAA tournament relevance. Probably as early as next season.

Congrats on a great end-of-season run!!

    @skywalker

So I guess that means you openly admit that Utah owns byu in football right? The overall record isn't even close.

Congratulations to the cougars for getting 20 wins against some very tough competition in the WCC conference. Since I don't follow byu sports, can someone tell me how they did against the top teams in their conference and how many teams from the WCC are getting into the NCAA tournament? I'm sure quantity is better than quality.

As for Utah, they made some great improvement in coach K's second year with the program. I'm looking forward to seeing this team continue to improve and play in a top conference. It will be interesting to see how many teams that Utah beat this year will get invited to the big dance. Probably more than any other team in the state.

    Go Utes!
