A secure border is one that is filled with armed drones.Case
closed. My guess is that word would get our real fast. These stupid politicians act like this is difficult to figure out.
The fence is a personal challenge to the polleros. They'll dig a tunnel,
go around by boat, fly over or take their clients another 100 miles down the
road to the nearest opening. The fence is only part of the issue. We
won't really create deterrence until we do some serious interior
enforcement including worksite raids and work paper verification. We'll also need to invite law enforcement to ID those who are
arrested. Our government doesn't even come close. In fact, we do just
the opposite with politicians promising amnesty.
To some, a secure border looks like something from East Germany.A 14
foot concrete wall, 200 yards of barbed wire, security dogs, Spot-lights, and Machine Gun nests. To me, it's a
$1 million fine, closing down the business, and 4 years of prison to anyone
hiring those here illegally.
So far, the most secure border has been the three tiered border south of San
Diego. Mexico has even copied it. Securing the border also includes
securing the interior of the country. Returning people when first discovered.
It's no wonder that Obama's administration questions
their ability to do it. As a member of the open border movement, they don't
want it done. Securing the border means putting someone in charge
that will do the job.
@RichardB -- Actually, if you turned off the Fox News once in a while, you would
learn that Obama has sent lots and lots of people back to their home country.
Shocking, I know, but true.
Richard doesn't WANT to know the truth, Wonder.
To "LDS Liberal" fining the businesses that knowingly hire illegals will
not stop a terrorist from coming through. Nor will it stop the human trafficer
or drug lord. How do you get around the businesses that simply pay
cash or else make their employees 1099 employees so that they don't have to
check immigration status? There are so many loopholes through employment laws
that fining the employers will not work because they can say "I didn't
intentionally hire an illegal", and get out of it. If you fine them just
for hiring an illegal, then you risk destroying businesses that may have hired
an illegal that had stolen an identity and was successful at looking legal. To "Wonder" if you would turn off MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, and media
matters, you would see that Obama changed the way they count deportations and
see that actual deportations are down.
RE: Wonder and one old manIf you WATCHED FOX News once in a while
you would know that Bill O'Reilly for one has many times had that
particular information on his show. Truth is, it is you Dem/liberal guys that
have the one sided point of view because you DON'T watch Fox News. And
yes, the amount of border arrests has gone down during Obama, but a lot of the
reason is so have the available jobs to come up here for.
Some people keep saying wrongly, that Obama has deported more than anyone else.
They are relied to, and proven false, but still continue beating the dead horse.
Obama has been counting those detained and held at the border for up
to 48 hours. Most are released in a few hours, after their biometric information
has been taken. Previously these returns were counted in a different
category. Obama has counted them as a person deported by the courts to inflate
his numbers. His actual deportations are much lower than Bush. Truthseeker, saying it over and over doesn't make it right. The truth is
available on multiple sites news articles.
@ Wonder and one old manThe "truth" is this:Despite issuing
over a million green cards a year for the last 15 years, even in the midst of
recessions, ONE HALF of all foreign born in the United States either are or were
at one time illegal aliens. And that doesn't include about four million
anchor babies. That's the truth. It's high time we did some
Redshirt,There is not one answer to solve the whole problem. The
point liberal was trying to make is one that I would think most on the far right
would understand. Capitalism, supply and demand. If we eliminate or even
reduce the demand, then you will reduce the supply coming across the border.
Will you get them all no, will you catch every business that is hiring illegals
no, but you will catch a bunch, you will convince others its no worth the risk
if you impose significant penalties. Part of a solution is better than no
solution at all and this would be a big part of the solution. We have to quit
giving business a free pass on everything, and hold them accountable for
following the law.
Iran, and North Korea have secure borders. Our southern border is a
sieve. We may be doing a better job securing Korean borders.
LDS Liberal--hard to believe a liberal would be so mean spirited. People here
illegally are entitled to the rights of benefits.
"Iran, and North Korea have secure borders."Never in the history
of the world has there been a secure border.
To "Fred44" you are wrong. "LDS liberal" wants to simply attack
demand, while leaving the border unsecured. If you wanted to make it
so that all the illegal immigrants would self deport, that is easy. Take the
able bodied people that are on welfare and hire them out to businesses for
$1/hr. The businesses get labor so cheap that even the illegals can't
compete. That eliminates the demand. The border is being used by
more than people from south and central america. There have been terrorists
from the middle east captured on the border. If we actually secured the border
and stopped the flow, the demand will dry up along with the supply. The final step is for the US to humble itself and realize that there
isn't a job that an American won't do.
