    McCain lacks credibility.
    He was opposed to the fence in his 2008 presidential bid (bowing to Rove, I assume) but was back to Build the dang fence in 2010 when he was running for reelection in the senate. In other words, he says whatever it takes at the time.
    Our federal government has gone out of its way to avoid enforcing the laws on the books.
    And now they want to push the reset button on the status of 12 million illegal aliens.
    No wonder there is confusion in Washington over this issue.
    One could go back to blue ribbon commissions in 1981 and 1994 for the answer, but the politicians would rather have votes than fix the problem.
    This is shaping up like the last efforts at reform: finger-pointing but no solution.

    Your indictment of john mccain is correct.

    I might add that mccain, a patriot, has descended into knee-jerk animus toward anyone who fails to share his opinion.

    His political capital is bankrupt.

    Sad.
