Unfortunately President Obama would rather be King Obama and not have to deal
with elected officials at all. His vision for America is a European style
socialist state where it will become very difficult for people to move from
poverty to wealth and opportunity. His policies will continue to remove the
incentive to work which will stifle innovation. Innovation is often born of
economic necessity and when the need to work is lessened, innovation will
diminish. He will continue to tear down those who have become successful
because "they didn't do that."
Obama bypasses everything but his self loving narcissism, and his constant
campaigning to give away more "free stuff" while totally ignoring the
very real problem that we are broke, deeply in debt, with all of our major
entitlement programs about to go bankrupt. Instead of doing a single
thing to curtail spending in any of the bloated or non-essential areas, Obama is
slashing defense spending, and demonizing any Republicans who attempt to propose
any cut at all.You really can fool all of the people some of the
time, and Obama has proven that decisively.Of course, it helps when
the sycophant stenographers from outfits like the Associated Press crank out
worshipful propaganda stories like this one to marvel at Obama's caring and
leadership while never asking tough questions or for specifics about his actual
plans. Worse, they do not "fact check" and refute his endless untruths
about how much he has spent, borrowed or cut.History will record
that Obama destroyed our nation by his unbridled spending. If he
really cared, he would not doom our future generations to servitude to the
Chinese to repay all of his borrowing!
To be expected, what the article isn't telling you is that Congress is on
recess for the week following the state of the union address. It was scheduled
last fall. The recess is called "Constituent Work Week." I know that
many people don't like Obama, but let's be honest here. It is hard to
work with a Congress that is not even in session and whose members are home
supposedly working with their constituents. At least Obama is actually flying
around the country talking with Americans. I haven't seen any public
events scheduled by Chaffetz, Bishop, Matheson, etc during their
"constituent work week."
@life and dnSo let's see if I can follow your reasoning. Obama
presents his economic plan to his bosses (the American people) while congress
members hold up in their mac mansions waiting to returning to their old boys
club on the hill but Obama is the one acting like a king?
"You really can fool all of the people some of the time, and Obama has
proven that decisively"Absolutely. He has a good chunk of the
GOP believing he is a socialist, even as the Stock market has more than doubled
since he took office.Private industry and corporations are making
record profits. Obama will surely go down in history as the worst socialist
@ Kings Court. In other words, you can criticize elected officials but the rest
of us can't criticize Obama?
None of Obama's proposals will add a dime to the debt, and he did reduce
the deficit by 2.5 trillion in the passed few years. At least,
that's what he said in his state of the unions speech.
Hello,The President makes a PROPOSAL, congress passes a BUDGET. The
President tries to get support for his ideas, and congress takes another week of
vacation. Who is at fault here? Whi is driving the economy off the cliff? Who
is doing nothing? Who controls the budget? Low information voters
need to wake up and quit buying talk radio rhetoric.
Whenever Obama uses the word "investment", it's time to check your
bank account.Fred44--you know a president is weak, when excuses are
constantly made. If it's not congress, then it's George Bush.
Worf,Excuses? So the fact that constitutionally the congress is in
charge of the budget is an excuse? Interesting concept. Now if he were the
King as so many of you on the far right call him then I could agree with you.
But the constitution is not an excuse it is the law of the land.Interesting that Newt Gingrich and republicans want to take credit for the
economy of the 90's when Bill Clinton was the President, but you want to
blame President Obama for all the problems today. How does that work? Its time to take the blinders off and realize that the disaster we have
now is caused by BOTH parties working against each other trying to gain a
political advantage. The economy is a disaster and it is not because of the
republicans or the democrats, both have contributed in roughly equal amounts. If I had my way I would throw them all out, because not one elected
official in Washington is doing their job. If they were we wouldn't have
this problem. Time for ALL elected officials to quit blaming and start working
for the American people.
FredYou have hit on what I believe is a general truth between the
Right and the Left. Those who are not on the right (moderates and
liberal) seem to think that our politicians, both Republican and Democratic,
have made bad choices and are responsible for our countries woes. Those on the right seem to think it is all caused by Democrats. A
look at history will show the truth, and it is easy to find. And it points a
finger at both parties. Why is that so hard to acknowledge? One
must understand the problem before any attempts at a fix.
Fred44---now you get it! " The economy is a disaster and it is not because
of the republicans or the democrats, both have contributed in roughly equal
amounts".Now for Obama! Quit blaming, and start fixing.
Congress hasn't been on vacation for four years, and a great leader can
work around differences to improving the country. That's what leaders do!
Lead the congress to solutions. Time to roll up the sleeves, and unite for the
betterment of the people.Fix the problems, and don't be a part
I will bet that if the economy is still bad at the end of Obamas 2nd term, Obama
and his supporters will still blame the economy he inherited from Bush.
However, if it does turn around in the next 4 years, the second it does, it will
be hailed by those same people as Obamas doing. Must be nice living in their
fairy tale world. Now for the real world. When Bush came into office
in 2001, he inherited an economy that was already heading down. Then he had a
further setback after the 911 attacks. Most of the Bush years were pretty good,
and the big downturn did not happen until Reid and Pelosi came on in 2007. That
and the Fanny Mae Freddy Mac housing fiasco. I don't need to remind all of
you that Bush tried to get congress to do something about those programs before
the fall, but the Democrats would have none of it. So at the very least, when
you complain about the economy Obama inherited, call it for what it is. The
Worf,Sorry to tell you, but I have had it all along. You commend me
for saying both sides got us into this mess then you go on a tirade about the
President. I am hoping you will GET IT soon.Joe Blow is correct.
There are three groups in the country right now, the radical right, moderates
and democrats. Two of the three admit that our problems are not caused solely
by one party. The radical right blasts the democrats for everything they have
done wrong, and blames most of what the republicans have done wrong on the
democrats as well.I would like to see a strong republican party that
had a place for moderates. It is sad that Rush, Sean and Glen are making
millions of dollars a year each by spewing over the top rhetoric and doing harm
to the country that they claim to have such a love for. Blaming the President
may make people feel better but it does not lead to a solution. Remember what your Mom taught you, when you point a finger at someone else,
there are three fingers pointing back at you.
The headline snags the usual suspects..."...President Obama
bypasses...".Don't bother to read the piece...Just go for the headline and then come the usual talking points. However, even a casual reading yields..."...This president,
LIKE RECENT ONES BEFORE HIM, has gone to the public before in hopes of
persuading lawmakers...".So the formula is... snag the usual
suspects, fire them up with the usual key words, then let them go for it...Nice.
Re: Fred44You forgot to include the 4th group, the Radical Left, of
which Obama, Reid, and Pelosi are part of. If you think that the likes of
Lawrence O'Donnell, Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews ect are mainstream
Democrats/liberals, then you have to include Rush, Sean, Glen, ect as mainstream
Republican/conservative. I have been a Republican/Conservative all my life and
from my point of view it has been the Democrat Party that has been moving to the
left. My values have stayed stable the whole time as I've watched the
Democrats run away from the center.
Fred44---Obama is the current president, and the past is gone. It's Obama
in the drivers seat, and we need him to steer us out the mess.If
Rush, Sean, and Glenn were around during the 1930's, the world possibly
would have been spared alot of grief. I'm not on the envy train. If these
guys can make money--more power to them. So did Gore, Pelosi, Reid, and Kerry.
worf said: "If Rush, Sean, and Glenn were around during the 1930's, the
world possibly would have been spared alot of grief."or, or we
would be worse off when Glen donned his right wing conservative nazi attire,
Joined Old man Bush and funneled money to the Nazis for a better world. Sean and Rush could have joined In 1933, the group of wealthy
businessmen including the heads of Chase Bank, GM, Goodyear, Standard Oil, the
DuPont family and Senator Prescott Bush who tried to recruit Marine Corps Major
General Smedley Butler to lead a military coup against President FDR and install
a fascist dictatorship in the United States.I have to disagree worf,
hate is hate is well hate.
Worf,You may not be on the envy train but you certainly are on the
blame train. I to would like to see the President try harder to lead congress
through this mess. However with that being said I am not sure it is possible
since the republicans by Mitch McConnells own words spent the first four years
trying to make him a one term president. Pretty hard to lead people who's
goal is to defeat you in the next election not do the work of the American
people. I know you don't like to talk about the past when it
doesn't serve your point of view, but Mr. Obama had a deal with Mr Boehner
in the summer of 2011 that Mr. Boehner walked away from. Why did Mr. Boehner
walk away? The tea party faction went crazy. Since then he has been adamant
about not negotiating again with the President because it is not good for his
position as Speaker of the House. The only things that the
republicans stand for right now is to oppose the President. That strategy is
not helping the republicans and more importantly it is not helping the country.
He has no clue how to fix the economy or anything else --- He should go to
Chicago and do some community organizing.
