Much like smoking, it's often best if you never start. I've never used
FB, never will. I have no need for it, even though those around me tell me
I'm out of touch. I've seen people "reconnect" with people
they shouldn't, I've seen people waste their lunch instead of eating,
they surf. A news program a few weeks ago showed women who had to turn off the
social media. They were going through withdrawals within a few days. They looked
like a junkie getting a fix when they got their devices back and were allowed to
check facebook. Very sad.
Joseywales is absolutely correct. People should not just take a vacation from
Facebook, they should permanently avoid it .Facebook has already
destroyed countless marriages, and it will destroy countless more unless people
abandon it once and for all. Those who use it are putting their marriages at
risk.Even when it isn't being used to facilitate illicit
affairs, Facebook at its best is still a time waster that takes away from time
that should be spent with one's spouse and children. If you care at all
about your family, you must abandon Facebook.
Fakebook? Timesuck? Total waste of time? All of the above.I have
no need for this self-indulgent, useless tool.
I LOVE my Facebook acct. Because it allows me to share pictures of my son with
my eighty something year old grandmother, and other relatives in another state.
Social media, UNLIKE smoking, and like other tools can either harm
or help depending on how it's used. If FB is used as a social tool, and not
a two hour a day habit, it's not going to harm anything. (especially if
your kids are doing something, which doesn't neccesarily require you - like
taking a nap - looking at you JCS).
