Hypocrites in action again with more lies and deceptions. If more than half the
population is not paying income taxes and the other half has income well below
the minimum taxable income then this claim is just political fodder. In Utah most poverty jobs are paid by welfare and already a taxpayers liable
and would not help our economy at all. Besides, taking income taxation out of
the loop also takes representation out of the loop and opens the doors for all
government agency's (UPD, UTA, TRAX, UFD, UDOT, BOE, Welfare, DMV, DWR,
etc) to establish their own taxation programs that are not regulated by any laws
or representation. What ever theses states do on taxation they must
make sure representation is required for all other government entities,
agency's, and fee driven government services. Just like banking, interest
rates are negligible but the their non negotiable fees and penalties are 100+
times the highest interest rates ever charged in the banking/loan industry. It
make pay day lenders and loan sharks look like an honest business.
Wonderful that states are assuming the control that the Fed govt refuses and
that the people of our country refused to vote someone as President who would
make the necessary changes.
"Texas is one of seven states with no income tax. But Texas makes up
for it by having the third highest property taxes nationally."They are gonna get you one way or another. Probably one of the biggest issues
is retired people. The would rather have an income tax with low
Going to be very interesting to see what happens. But political tricks
don't usually turn out very well.
TX is facing a $25 billion deficit. This is the result of spending money without
having an income.
Back handed corporate tax cut since a business is exempt from sales tax. You
just have to give them your tax ID for your business and you don't pay
sales tax so their excuse that it cuts down on paperwork is not the reason.
@ Irony guyWasn't there a former POTUS who was in charge of the
lone star state?
Show me the state that isn't sweating bullets looking for ways to pay for
their schools, roads, social services and public safety programs, etc.Show me when tax cuts have ever resulted in job growth. These
Republican governors and legislators are just pandering to the fantasies of the
far right because they fear being primaried out of office in 2014.
Glad to see some politicians headed in the right direction.
Texas hasn't had income tax for many years. W had no impact on that so
quit blaming him.The only problem with this is, the "rich"
won't pay their fair share and the budget will be balanced on the backs of
the "poor". I can just hear the democrats whining. The good
thing about a consumption tax is, everyone pays and participates in the
govenment. No free rides.
The federal government partners of the states provide many dollars back to the
states that may be on the chopping block. If states really are cutting back on
their spending, the federal government requires some of their programs to be 50
percent funded by the states or the feds will take over the programs and take
away dollars they provide. Again, there is no such thing as a
"free lunch" even if you don't provide sodas and sweets at lunch
time, gratis. We have become more like Europe than the Pilgrims would
even picture after over 200 years. If voters don't get informed and the
others that don't vote, which is a majority of those eligible, they will
not have the freedoms today what the founder's of our nation envisioned.
States were so powerful at the beginning that they felt they could
secede from the Union and even raised armies and a navy to fight. President
Lincoln didn't necessarily want to give us everything that people say
today, that we have. All people may have become free from slavery of that type
but now we can become slaves of the federal government's programs and
To "Blue" here is what you asked for.Read "The Facts
About Tax Cuts, Revenue, and Growth" By Michael T. Griffith. In there he
points out that the Bush tax cuts lead to "52 straight months of job
growth". Similar finding hold true for Reagan. Also look up some
information on the 1920 recession and how President Warren Harding cut spending
and cut taxes and gave us the roaring 20's.The facts are when
tax cuts are accompanied by spending cuts job numbers increase and the economy
Bush cut taxes and the economy totally collapsed six years later, on his
watch.Tax cuts aren't the answer.
To "Ernest T. Bass" I hate to tell you this, but the bush tax cuts did
not collapse the economy. The tax cuts were enacted in 2001, the economy
didn't tank until 2008. That is 7 years. Plus, the collapse was due to
banking regulations that made the government liable for defaults on the
sub-prime loans that the regulations forced on the banks.
