"To date, there is no evidence that Swallow violated any state or federal
law outside of Johnson's statements, which are less than trustworthy."
-- That is the most revealing sentence in this whole mess. The only actual
evidence against Swallow is coming straight from Johnson!
I agree that Swallow just needs to quietly get back to work. We elected him as a
shining star and we need him to be just that. Utah faces a mountain of
challenges, and issues like this can really side-track the momentum of an
administration. We need our AG to be 100%, Mr. Attorney General if you're
reading this, don't let the naysayers get you down, you still have tons of
Frank Pignanelli is in a dream world if he thinks Swallow's reputation can
be revived & ever respected. He needs to go just based on what the
public knows. I'd bet there is a whole lot more we don't know &
won't know. Time to step down Swallow, with the little credibility that you
Pignanelli wrote:"Swallow should state that he was conned by
Johnson and he will work to protect Utahns against such malfeasance. He must
offer some explanation..."Instead of advising John swallow to
offer some explanation, why not advise him to just tell the truth?
Swallow has waited too long to hold his news conference, Frank. Why politicians
will not learn to immediately fess up to stupidity (and being human they are all
guilty of it as some point) is beyond belief. Swallow will never be able to
function effectively as AG so needs to step down. He then can do what's
necessary to try to clear his name and reputation. To try to do so while
remaining in office does the state a huge disservice.
While a complete investigation is conducted openly by a totally non-partisan
board, Swallow needs to step aside in paid administrative leave. That's what happens when a police officer is involved in something. Why
should it be different for our chief law officer?
one old manSwallow is a politician, therefore he is above the rules
that govern others in society. And everybody knows politicians don't do
anyhting wrong. Just ask them.
