Based on the reports I've read about the paltry amount of charitable giving
by the likes of Al Gore ($353 for all of 1997) and Joe Biden (Joe Biden and his
wife gave an average of $369 a year to charity during the past decade, according
to USA Today), you'd think the deduction limits had been in force for
years.I'd say it may be something peculiar to Vice Presidents.
But many studies over at least 20 years has shown that those who self-identify
as liberals consistently give much less to charitable causes than do those who
describe themselves as conservative. The disparity is even greater for those
who say they are conservative and religious.Something to remember
when comparing who pays what to charity.
Our political leaders will now handle our donations. Thank you.
