Sure, let's give this wreck of a president another blank check. He has
done such a spectacular job so far with the 8 trillion dollars he has wasted.
Translation: He wants to increase his credit card limit, even though he is
maxed out, and has become maxed out each of the last 13 times it was raised, and
has not made any payments. He does not have a credit limit problem,
he has a SPENDING PROBLEM!Obama and the Democrats need to decide
what is essential and what we can do without.Do we need Hurricane
Sandy relief more than subsidizing Big Bird? De we need to continue to send
welfare checks to people's direct deposit when no one can find the people
(19,000 in Massachusetts alone). Do we hire more federal workers or lay some
off? Do we give more military aid to Egypt, or fund our VA hospitals? We are broke, borrowing 46 cents of every dollar we spend, and no one in
Washington can agree to cut spending on ANYTHING. Republican need
to refuse to raise the debt limit and demand we restructure priorities until we
live within our means.Yeah, that means a lot of painful cuts, and
politicians will have a lot of people mad at them. Or, they can wait until our
economy collapses and have EVERYONE mad at them!
"Obama and the Democrats need to decide what is essential and what we can do
without."We can definitely "do without" subsidizing the
oil industry, which is the most profitable industry on the planet. We
can do without the F-35 fighter jet, which even the Pentagon says it does not
want.We can do without a military budget that is three times the
size of the combined budgets of Russia, China, Iran and North Korea. We can be
secure if we just spent _twice_ as much on defense as those nations. We can do without farm subsidies which artificially depress the costs of some
foods and artificially inflate the costs of others. We can do without
special tax breaks for owners of private yachts and private jets. Our
debt ballooned in recent years because of three things: 1) Bush's tax cuts,
2) two unfunded foreign wars, and 3) the most powerful economic collapse since
the Great Depression. Federal spending as a portion of GDP has been shrinking
under Obama.Republicans voted for the legislation that created our
debt, so Republicans need to man-up and pay for them by raising the debt
ceiling. Otherwise, they're just deadbeats.
Let's see, the President spend a great deal of OUR money flying to Hawaii,
a great deal flying back to Washington, and a great deal flying back to Hawaii
again to "finish" his vacation. What makes him so special
that he can spend millions of our tax dollars to lay around in the sun while the
rest of us turn our thermostats down to 60 because we can't afford to heat
our homes? What makes him think that we will continue to pay for his
bloated government while he golfs, bowls and plays cards - and continues to
campaign long after the election is over? What makes him think that
we approve of him signing legislation when the Senate had SIX MINUTES to read
over 150 pages of legislation before voting on more "smoke and
mirrors"?What makes him think that anyone is willing to PAY for
his spending? The poor have clearly told him that they can't. The rich
will soon be closing up shop or passing along their tax hikes in the prices that
they charge. Is anyone sure that Obama ever learned anything about
economics while in school?
Seems like statesmen are in short supply here. Even if there was one he would be
kicked out by irate recipients of government largess. I say take away all the
discounts, subsidies, etc and lower corporate taxes to 20%. Otherwise down the
tube. Spending has to at least slow.
@DNS2: Sir i need to ask just who writes the bills that the president gets
and if it is the house is it not run by the GOP/TP. And if so are not they the
ones spending money? Maybe i am wrong but things have changed over the years and
maybe he do's make all the laws and spends all the money.@MR: Sir lets talk about vacations and how special he is ok. You whine
about him flyig to Hawaii to finish his vacation thats his right. did you whine
as much when GB2 told over a 1,000 days vac. when in office? And as far
as the house only haveing six minutes to read over the legislation well thats
tere problem if they want to come in late. And the way i see it they had all the
time they needed to read it chance it and hand it back. It not my problem if
they wanted to the last minute and then rush in to this because they have had
how many months to come up with there own plan? Get over it Obama won mitt lost.
Mike, I'm searching the new archives for instances in years of 2001 - 2008
when you complained with equal bitterness about George W. Bush's vacations.
Since Dubya took more vacation days than any other president in
history, especially more than our current president, it's only logical that
you'd have complained about him even more. Right?Yet somehow I
can't find any complaints from you about our previous president's
vacations.Surely you're consistent when criticizing presidents
- please show me those complaints. Enquiring minds want to know.
Obama just doesn't get it when it comes to economics. What he does get is
that the masses voted for him so he thinks he is King now and should have
whatever he wishes. Now we'll see how gullible the voters were
last November when they returned a great orator and a lousy leader to office.Heaven help us all.
"Heaven help us all."Love it! The sky-is-falling mentality
will surely help!
Just give him the check book, and enjoy the ride.
xscribe and worfI'm certain the good folks in New Jersey and
New York think Uncle Sam should make them "whole" again, just like the
folks in Louisiana did after Katrina. Just how much can the country afford when
it comes to natural disasters and people's unfortunate circumstances that
follow building right on the water front? Hopefully when New Yorkers rebuild
they will be a bit smarter than the folks in New Orlens that continue to build
below sea level and then wonder why their homes flood yet again. If
we had a major earthquake there'd be people expecting the government to
save them, too, just like the folks in St. George that built next to a little
stream that became a raging torrent. That's just the nature of people.
But can we afford it, along with all the massive foreign aid we send to our
enemies overseas, an expensive military, Obamacare, 49% of the population who
don't pay any income tax, etc etc, and a federal government that won't
quit spending? We need LESS spending, not more!!!!Greece, here we come..........(as fast as possible under King Obama's
So glad I don't have it on my conscience that I voted for Obama.
JSB,That makes two of us.
Lets get a few things straight. (1) taxes are going up for everyone. (2)
He's in Hawaii again? By my count this is the second time in 2 weeks. How
many vacations does this dude need? I can understand the need to blow off steam,
but when you're supposed to be the defender of the free world and the most
powerful man on earth you would think you'd be used to stress and you would
think that you'd be willing to work long hours for extended periods of
time. (3) The reason he wants to raise the debt ceiling is because if he
doesn't continue to spend obscene amounts of money on the people that vote
democrate the dems will then lose political power. Leaving the debt ceiling
where it is would cripple his ability to continue to do so. Good fiscal policy
is not something the president is interested in.
@BlueIt's not the vacationing that is the problem. IT is the
cost. Bush took "working" vacations to his ranch or to camp david.Obama takes bey expensive vacations to ritzy place like martha's
vineyard and spain, among other expensive vacations, he also host very
expensive parties, and obama has spent far more time golfing in one term that
bush did the whole time, bush even stopped playing golf during the war. Obama
continues to play golf even while many times far more have died in Afghanistan
during Obama's admin than during bush's admin.Somewhere in
the neighborhood of one and a half billion has been spent on the Obamas.Important Notes:The "great economic collapse" was
not even worse than the carter recession.Tax cuts are not the
problem, letting people keep their own hard earned money is not the problem,
SPENDING is.Until the left gets it through their thick heads we
are spending too much, the debt and deficit problems will NEVER be solved. While any spending cut would be helpful, using Blue's cuts as an
example, the LEFT never gets serious about cuts, just politically and
Help me out here. Congress passes spending bills, spends money it does not have
but then does not authorize the goverment to borrow to pay for it? Crazy!!
