The sketch was funny because it showed Donny indulging in things I'm sure
he would never do, and Jimmy Kimmel suggesting 'he needs counseling'
and trying to stop him. The crux of the joke was in knowing Donny would not do
Hutterite,You are, of course, completely right. But when someone has so
little sense of humor that you have to painstakingly explain jokes to them, it
hardly seems worth the effort.
Okay, he was a hit, but was that ever the point?Perhaps too much is
expected of religious stars. After all they are people like anybody else each
with their own personality and weaknesses.Religion for the most part
isn't about being good and decent, but about adhering to the rules of that
particular religion. Given that I don't think any of the Osmonds would
ever sip a cup of coffee on stage or even pretend to.
