Will Obama admit that Bush's "tax cuts for the rich" apply to the
@nateObama never claimed that the middle class did not receive tax cuts.
if you can prove he did then please prove it otherwise stop making false claims.
Why do we keep referring to "tax cuts" when what we're really
facing is "tax increases?" The Repubs let the Dems paint them into that
corner. Where's Utah Senior Senator and all the other supposed
"leaders" in Washington DC? The community organizer, who is a good
orator but has never run anything on his own, gets his way because no one is
willing to stand up to him.Honestly, why would any person who
believes in personal responsibility, opportunity and creativity ever want to pay
higher taxes? Why is the government the "golden" answer, unless you
want them to take care of you from the cradle to the grave?
It passed 257-167.The Utah Congressmen ALL voted AGAINST passage.
Thank you Rob Bishop, Jason Chaffetz, and especially Jim Matheson
for refusing to go along with this incessant stealing from our children to pass
out "free stuff" to the masses.Sanity, especially fiscal
sanity, lost this battle, but we cannot surrender. We must cut spending. That
will require fighting again and again, when the debt ceiling comes up, when
budget and appropriation bills are considered, etc.I may envy the
rich, but I see them as a role model and mentor, not a someone to be hated and
robbed. Not everyone will agree with that. So, they just want to steal the
wealth the rich have worked for and earned, not work for it themselves. They
call it a "tax" but it is theft.
Republicans time to lead again will come again And the country needs them. It
will be sooner than later if they give up their petty social issues and
recogonize and RESPECT the changed demographics of our country.
Although I do not agree with the tax increases on higher income taxpayers, that
is not my biggest problem with this bill. My biggest problem is that it puts off
spending cuts until later. In other words, the spending cuts in a likelihood
will not actually happen. And the Democrats blame the Republicans for not
compromising? There is not even one tiny little spending cut in the bill. And
the media just goes right along with it and pushes the idea that it is all the
Republicans' fault. It is sickening. To be fair, both sides are to blame
for the mess we are in, but Democrats are significantly more to blame. And this
"solution" to the fiscal cliff is just as bad as the fiscal cliff itself
would have been, if not worse.
Obama compromised with Republicans in 2010 when he extended all the Bush tax
cuts for 2 more years.Tonight was the first time since Obama has
been president, that any major legislation has received more than a couple of
Republican votes. Republicans have done nothing since Obama assumed the
presidency, but plot to bring him down, deny him a 2nd term, regardless of the
affect it has on our country. Republican intransigence caused the U.S. credit
rating to be downgraded for the first time in history. I have no doubt they
will do it again. Nevermind that the debt ceiling doesn't have anything
to do future spending. Essentially Republicans are willing to tell world
markets that the U.S. will not pay its PAST bills. We cannot/should
not cut spending UNTIL employment fully recovers. Spending cuts need to have an
effective date down the road.
Obamma hates Republicans and has no innterest in communicating with them. He has
assumed very broad powers in order to fundamentally change America. What did all
of you who voted for him think he meant by that. Look at what you got.
The Dow Jones futures market shot up 250 points after the vote. This means that
financial markets and investors (i.e., most real business people) believe
Congress did the right thing and are relieved that Utah's crazy contingent
did not prevail.Granted, we need to spend less in the future (and
all future spending should be on the table) but we are totally capable of
growing out of the current GOP fabricated "debt crisis". Hopefully our
nation's leaders will continue to act responsibly during the upcoming
elcapitan:look at what WE got. a clueless president for four more years
and mostly lapdog republicans. time for all the incumbents to be booted out and
term limits mandated, it is hard to believe barry the community organizer with
no experience and economically clueless is still pretending to lead this great
country. free stuff apparently works.
The headline is wrong. We are still cliff dwellers. This legislation fixed
nothing. The increase on the rich fails to bring more revenue. We didn't
cut anything. (In fact, Obama piled on new expenses.)All this bill does
is move the fiscal cliff deadline down the calendar a few months.
For those of you who really believed there was ever a problem, wake up. This
deal was done months ago. Think about it, politicians always need good theatre
so they can someone make us believe they stayed up for weeks and weeks and then
at the very last minute after all their energy was depleted they rode in on
their white horses and saved the day. Really? at the last minute? This was in
the works long ago..I cannot believe there are actually Americans gullible
enough to think this was a last minute deal and these wonderful politicians
saved the day! what a crock!
@spring streetShow me the quote where Obama characterizes the Bush
tax cuts as "tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans AND the middle
class," and I'll stop bugging you about it.Post it right
