I would agree but one must also realize that college football is a coach's
league. Without a great coach, a program won't compete for long. College
coaches have to be great recruiters, develop a top-notch organization and make
critical game day decisions. Hopefully, this new coach is up to the challenge.
Some programs can replace a great coach with another great coach or at least a
competent coach. The latter would be my bet here. Hopefully, the Aggie fans
will be reasonable with their expectations...
I am not a fan of bringing in the asst coach unless you think the asst was the
reason the head coach was succesful. I would have gone back to Utah and hired
the defensive cord. This hire was a big mistake. I hope I'm wrong.
Andersen is the primary reason for the Aggies success. I think Wells deserves a
shot and you have to give the USU administration some trust here in the hire.Whether this guy is the next Chris Petersen, to fit your example
runnerguy50, it's hard to know. It may seem like Andersen may have been
the primary reason behind the success of Utah.
Keep drinking that dark blue cool aid. The truth is u may well be back to
square one, which is not a very nice place.
I think the team will do just fine next year. We have 16 starters returning and
the DL, WR, and QB coaches will be back as well. And Wells knows how to run an
efficient offense. This is not your father's Utah State program.
Increased funding, upgraded facilities, and better recruits have helped make
Utah State football relevant again.
