Beautiful Christmas message. Thanks for sharing, Dan!
I believe in Dan's message of hope, as I believe in Dan. It is important
to hold onto the good things, and not give into the fear that can so easily
overcome us. Thank you for this article, Dan.
Nine years ago my new born daughter was in the ICU with bacterial meningitis.
Even when she was in the ER getting a spinal tap I had put on a brave face, but
I remember walking into her hospital room one day and the sight of her plugged
into various machines and with iv lines coming out of her arm made me break
down. I held her in my arms and cried like a baby. We are so very fortunate that
she recovered fully. That December was a difficult one, and each one since then
has reminded me of that scary time for our family. It reminds me of the story
behind I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day. Its author also remembered tragedies
during Christmas, which makes his last two stanzas even more potent. "And in
despair I bowed my haed, there is no peace on earth I said. For hate is strong
and mocks the song of peace on earth good will to men. Then pealed the bells
more loud and deep, God is not dead nor doth he sleep. The wrong shall fail, the
right prevail, with peace on earth good will to men."
