A national commission as proposed by Liberman will be a waste of time and money.
What needs to be examined is the failure of the mental health system. In this
case and in the case of the last few shootings. How would a commission have
stopped this? Banning so called "assault weapons" wouldn't have
prevented this. Banning ammunition wouldn't have stopped it. Banning high
capacity magazines wouldn't have stopped this. What would have
stopped this is the mother have all her guns in a gun safe and the son not have
access. I have a gun safe at home. All my guns are locked in there. The only
people who have the combination are myself, my wife, and my oldest son
who's in the Army. None of my other kids have access at all. What might have stopped this? Bringing God and teaching good old fashoned
right and wrong may have stopped this. Something you don't get in schools
today. Yep, I'm saying bring back the good old fashoned Judeo/Christian
ethic. Also ban violent video games.
Agree with much of what you said.however, I DO feel that the gun
being an "assault weapon" did contribute to the number of people
killed."Bringing God and teaching good old fashioned right and
wrong may have stopped this."I have little doubt that either
this kid knew this was wrong, or the mental illness clouded his judgement. I
sincerely doubt that Religion would have prevented this.Guns should
be LOCKED UP. That is the first and easiest step.
@flashbackSo all we need to deal with mental health issues is a belief in
your version of a god?
