At BYU Parker would have absolutely no chance of any semblance of a normal
college experience.Fellow BYU students and media would make his life
miserable.Schools like Duke are used to high profile basketball
stars. I can't imagine that he would be hounded at Duke like he will be at
BYU if that is the path he chooses.Remember when The Jimmer
wasn't allowed to attend classes because his presence was too disruptive?
Remember the BYU student body pushing the limits of dignified recruitment with
t-shirts and a rap video urging Parker to choose BYU?When it comes
to its athletic heros the BYU community just doesn't know when enough is
Sorry, information overload. Enough is enough and in this case, too much. Good
wishes to this fine young man, but we are losing interest. Michigan State, BYU
or wherever will survive his decision.
I think Howard S. is jealous!!
He will make the right choice what ever it is because Jabari is all about making
Please stop this nonsense. He is not going to BYU. Get over it.
Ok, since no one is giving BYU a chance on this one, I'm going to boldly
predict, against all odds, that JP will be a Cougar. Now there, it's all
settled now so you can all stop speculating and go on with your business. And
if he doesn't, well, we still wish him the best wherever he ends up. Go Cougs!
Howard is spot on, the problem comes when some people can't handle the
Jabari's going to announce on Dec. 20 where he's going to play college
ball. B.Y.U. plays the Poinsettia Bowl that evening. He's coordinating
his announcement to come to the Y on that day. Lighten up folks. I'll
support the young man where ever he decides to play ball at.
I heard he was a little freaked out when there were full grown men wearing
t-shirts made for him during his visit to BYU. Howard isn't just right, he
is spot on. Parker would be mauled even more than the Jimmer because he would
be a "star" from the beginning. Every move would be scrutinized.
Everywhere he went he would be on someones cell phone camera. The really spooky
thing is that it would be more than just his fellow students...it would be the
old 45 year old men who are calling their 45 year old buddies telling them to
say they just ran into Jabrari at the BYU Creamery and inviting them to "get
over here quick" to see Jabari eat a bowl of ice cream. BYU, and Provo in
general, are very over the top.
BYU took themselves out of the picture with that odd t-shirt and the associated
display by fans when he officially tripped to BYU. That display crossed the
line from welcoming to creepy/stalker-ish. Jabari even told a newspaper back in
Michigan that what BYU did was "a little weird."
He's going to byu. It's a done deal.
And the U and the MUSS wouldn't have done anything similar to lure a top
I'm not expecting him to come to BYU either. Going to be Duke or Michigan
State. But I love seeing the stress it is causing the Utesies. Love seeing the
negative comments above by our usual "all-things-BYU" faithful. The
more publicity BYU gets with these high-profile athletes, the more we hear from
them. Keep it coming!
