According to the Tax Foundation's Scott Hodge,(a non-partisan commission to
study tax policy) "Only 13% of US citizens earn more than $100,000 yet they
pay 87% of the nation's income tax." "America is becoming divided
between a shrinking group of taxpayers who are bearing the lion's share of
the costs of government and a growing group of taxpayers who are disconnected
from those costs". "Of 143 million returns filed in 2010, 41% owed
nothing to the IRS, up from 25.2% in 2000". The thing that should
worry Democrats is the fact that the number of people who actually pay taxes is
shrinking while those who pay no taxes is increasing! The "rich' paying
more taxes without government spending cuts is like pouring a quart of gasoline
in your gas tank on a car that gets .00000005 miles/gallon. Come on Democrats,
Wow! Detroit loss half of its population, and is bankrupt. The price of a house
starts at a thousand dollars, and neighborhoods are being bull dozed. Go to
Craigslist and check the house prices.Liberals are creating a third
world country, and people with handouts can't see what's going on.
Better to fall off the cliff than to move forward without spending limits. Barack seems to only be concerned about his promise to stick it to the
rich. The president has shown no desire to restrict spending or manage any
Mountanman,So I must assume from your comment that you think that
every American regardless of income level or wealth should pay the exact same
amount in taxes. It would be irrelevant that 70% of the wealth in America is
controlled by only 6% of Americans, we should all be paying the same. The reason the number of people paying taxes is shrinking is really very
simple. For all but the top 20% of income earners everyone else is going
backward on the salary schedule and has been going backward since trickle down
economics started in 1979.
Fred, you are confusing wealth and income - while correlated, they are not
the same. Someone who spends $200/month on an income of $600/month will
accumulate more wealth than someone who spends $1200/month on an income of
$1201/month.And I did not see ANYWHERE in Mountanman's comment
a call for everyone to pay the same amount in taxes - typical tactic of the
left, misquote an argument they cannot refute.I know of a local
organization that requires ALL its members in good standing to donate at exactly
the same RATE, even those its supports through its welfare functions, but that
does not mean all donate the same amount. And I trust the author of that rule
MUCH more than I could ever trust BO and the dems.
Yes, in four short years, the "liberals" have created a third-word
country. Actully, make that 2 years, as that is the only time they had a
majority. That's an amazing feat!
Lost,And that local organization expects 10% on the gain. It
doesn't differentiate between capital gains, dividends salary etc. That
same organization doesn't care if that money is made in America or outside
of America. Now if you want to adopt that policy for America I am with you.
That same organization believes in giving the poor a hand up without
having to beat them up. That same organization has said we can find good people
in all political parties. That same organization preaches love not hate, and
believes that we should respect others that may disagree with them. I have no problem adopting the model espoused by the organization you speak
of, but lets not cherry pick the things we like and ignore the rest.
Fred,You are right, that organization believes in helping the poor, but it
is led by someone who suffered all so that we would not be FORCED to help
others. 10% flat rate on everything? OK, MY taxes would go up as
would taxes for the vast majority of us. The "rich" BO is always
talking about soaking would see their taxes go down.
Lost,Not necessarily sure that this would be the great deal for the
rich that you claim it would be, but that's ok. I find your
comment interesting about he who suffered all did so to make sure you
wouldn't be forced to help others. I respectfully disagree with your
assertion as to why he suffered. I believe he suffered for a much higher
purpose than what you I or anyone else pays in taxes. As I recall he said
something like render unto to Caesar what is Caesar's. I think he was more
concerned about how you and I and everyone else treats those who are less
fortunate. You are very concerned about the rich and treating them
"fairly", again not to sure he was concerned about the rich keeping
their money. I think he made his thoughts on this pretty clear when he said
something about the rich heaven a camel and a needle. There is no
reason to have hungry people in a country that has been so blessed. I may be
wrong but I believe he is very disappointed in those who claim his name but fail
to take care of his children.
Liberals are found with both Democrats, and Republicans.Liberals
started the War on Poverty in 1964. Ten trillion dollars later, we are losing
the battle. Poverty is spreading like cancer.Soon, we'll all be
under "Obama's Care". The United States of America? He
didn't build that! Some one else did that.
