The United States of America has a lot of higher education attendees from many,
many countries for a variety of reasons. Many of those students and graduates
go back to their own country or another country due to their attained degree and
field of specialization. We also have many citizens from the United States of
America that go to other countries to study and to live, for a variety of
reasons. We need this kind of crossflow of people basically showing others that
we care about education and that it impacts on our ability to continue in this
world of commercial and economic, plus personal reasons. There is
too much partisianship about anything going through Congress that it is all
about gamesmanship and not about diplomacy and caring about our future. Short
sightedness is a problem today and the lack of integrity at all levels.
Hopefully, those coming here will learn that integrity and gaining an education
will benefit all of society and not a few.
Leading experts on the STEM workforce, have said for years that the US produces
ample numbers of excellent science students. In fact, according to the National
Science Board’s authoritative publication Science and Engineering
Indicators 2008, the country turns out three times as many STEM degrees as the
economy can absorb into jobs related to their majors. What we are
seeing is a move to lower the pay for the lucky ones who are working, by
bringing in foreign labor.
