Americans do not like the U.N. or scientists so this story is irrelevant.
Personally, I'm buying property a few miles back from the coast as future
beach front innvestments.
Probably and science don't go well together, especially when the
"scientists" have their hands out. We've had bigger storms on
the east cost; they just didn't zero in on Manhattan....and that
makes all the difference.
Probability and science go together quite well. Whether this particular storm
is, specifically, the result of climate change is another matter. The
concept that climate science is beholden to (what would have to be) a
transnational, multilingual, multi-generational conspiracy that crosses every
line of politics and religion is absurd. When has this ever been done?Science is not our enemy. The confluence of politics and money is another
matter. But if we follow the vested interests and the money available to fight
this battle, it is not Al Gore at the end of the trail.
Conservatives and the Scientific denialisms -- The world is flat,
and only 6,000 years old, Evolution does not happen, Acid rain
is a liberal lie, Lead based paint is perfectly harmless, Tobacco
doesn't cause cancer, and of course today's denial -- Climate Change is a myth fabricated for political purposes by Al Gore.
Climate change is a huge polarizing topic. I have beliefs on both sides of the
issue. I have no proof of any of my beliefs so I decided to do some research on
my own. Guess what! Both sides exaggerate or hide some of the facts. (Of course
it is very difficult to find facts). Here is what I found to be apparently
true. First, there has been a trend to rising temperatures. Recently it has
begun to go down slightly. Second, many glaciers are melting. On the other hand,
many more are growing. Third, CO2 emissions have increased drastically. They
increase shortly after the earth warms and decrease shortly after temperatures
go down. Fourth, The sea levels will be 4 feet higher by the end of 2013
according to Al Gore. I don't see that happening. Fifth, by limiting carbon
emissions, many already wealthy people stand make billions more if carbon taxes
are allowed.I am no expert but you can see where my confusion come from.
Governments see global warming as a huge pool of new revenue. To enforce any
type of restrictions on carbon based energy, the US government would impose a
new tax upon businesses & companies as well as families. Obama was going to
try for the carbon tax in his first year of office but he spent all of his
political capital forcing Obamacare upon us so he decided to drop the carbon
tax, which by the way started as a Republican idea, I believe. The recession
also weakened Obama's resolve to force through carbon taxes. I suppose
that is one good thing that came out of the recession...no carbon tax...yet.
This is another problem with the United Nations. They get into things their
charter is not made for. They don't want to address the
problems of the world but use this to further Vice-President Gore's ideas,
such as the Internet and Global Warming. He Gore was a real person
concerned about Climate and not the millions upon millions he is making in the
process flying in his private carbon using plane, then he would have more on his
side. He saw the dollar signs and must be eating opulently as his body frame is
picking that up. Droughts, floods, famine, freezing, diseases,
pestilences, and other forms of earth problems have existed for a variety of
reasons. Volcanoes erupt and cause some of those problems but man in no way
made a volcano erupt from turning on the electricity or water pump, or even
flying overhead in his airplane with carbon fuel.Moral issues have
existed for all the time on earth. Telling lies, immorality, living beyond
means and other types of issues cause families to split. Those are real issues
we have control over and they just seem to be getting worse for some people.
