'I feel good about voting for a smart, successful man who shares my
values.' Me, too. It's even better that he came out on top. And I live
I, too, feel good about voting for a smart, successful man who shares my values.
I may disagree with Hutterite on some issues, but here is why this white Utah
Mormon Republican in Utah county voted for Obama:I believe in
helping the poor.I believe in welcoming the stranger.I believe in
using government to protect the worker from being oppressed in his wages.I
believe in law and order, and seek government regulatory protection from white
collar crime.I like cooperating with people outside my religion, race, and
national origin in worthy causes.I oppose preemptive wars.I
don't mind enabling the handicapped.I'm PROUD to redistribute my
wealth.I'm a patriot who supports every amendment in the
Constitution, not just the ones that please me.
The second comment above is absolutely correct about why people voted for Obama.
Those who voted for Obama:1. want free welfare handouts with no work
expected in return;2. want immigration laws ignored;3.
want government to force businesses to pay artificially high wages, and;4. want the government to take property from one citizen and give it to
another, with no compensation in return. This is a vision that is
destroying America. Those who supported Romney were trying to stop this
destruction. Hopefully, there will be something left to salvage when the public
finally comes to its senses in four years.
Another nonsensical post from JCS. How anyone can blindly accept those ideas
and then spout them as if they were facts is completely beyond comprehension.
Boy, in my ward, the pressure was certainly on to vote for Mitt. Having an
Obama bumper sticker on my car made for some very interesting Sundays.
@John C C -- Couldn't have said it better. I agree with you 100%. And
John Charity Spring, I think YOU are the one who wanted goodies, not the people
who voted for Obama. Mitt telling you you'd get a 20% tax cut really got
you revved up, right? So you want the federal government to do everything it
does (except help the poor; they can cut that part), but you don't want to
pay for it. Talk about wanting goodies.
Anderson's letter was pure nonsense. The Northeast, Black Americans and
Hispanics who voted for Obama are subject to the same charge, but were
conveniently not mentioned. Such blather is not ink-worthy.
JCS, you amuse me still young man. Where do you get this stuff? Googled on the
10,000'd page? Maybe you could direct me to the "free gift's"
I am alleged to receive.
As it was impossible to know what Romney REALLY believed (shifting positions on
climate change, the coal inustry, the auto bailout, gun control, gays in the
military, marriage equality, abortion, contraception, health care mandates and
Medicare) what are the reasons Utah voted for him by 73% other than the Olympic
and Mormon connection? If you claim you share his values, outside of having the
same religious faith, precisely what were they?
It was greatly satisfying to see that Willard only got the standard Republican
vote total in the election. He was outpolled by GWB in one of his elections. I
fully expected that the guy on the white horse would break all records. I was
wrong. It would be nice to hear that from the other side. JWC - the
definition of what the other side "wants" or "stands for" is set
by the winners and not the losers.
John CC and other like minded Demo'sI too believe in helping
the poor, and handicapped, by re-distributing my wealth, but there is no pride
in having it taken by force from me. The pride comes in the giving freely, and
in choosing a charitable vehicle that gets 90-95%, or more, of the donations to
those it was intended for. Government takes the money, strips out half or more
in bureaucracy, and gives the leftovers to the poor. The government doesn't
meet its own requirements for being a tax exempt charitable organization.I want my government to protect me from all types of crime. There are
criminals of every group. I don't want it to target some crimes, while
winking and nodding at others, based on the color of the collar or the skin.I hope you really do believe in every amendment. I too believe abiding
by every amendment, but hear people on the left bashing many rights of
conservatives. (Freedom of speech, religion, and gun ownership come to mind.)
Maybe if we could all unify in upholding the constitution, in its
entirety, liberals and conservatives could actually talk to each other with
Compare which state has the better unemployment rate and economy. Utah who
supports and lives by Romney principles, or Maryland who supports and lives by
Obama principles? Which one gets more government infrastructure dollars to
support that economy. Enough said!
