I am quite certain that Mr Christie will be lampooned for praising the president
for his handling of the disaster.I applaud Mr Christie for not
allowing partisan politics to cloud his perception. This type of
honesty will be a liability in his future political aspirations. We
need politicians on both sides who will NOT look at every issue based on
partisanship.Congrats to you Mr Christie.
The last thing storm victims needs is a visit by the president and all his
entourage who will only get in the way and siphon off the help they need to get
their lives back in order.
Why is he in a Mall, in a shelter, and making speeches to the victims like it is
a campaign event? Why isn't he out looking at the damage and making sure
people are getting the services of his duties to the people in time of need?
Where are the food lines for the victims? The responders and office workers in
the mall are being fed, what about food, water, and medical for the real victims
outside the security and shelter of the Mall? And why is the news
media so benevolent and obligatory of this mans irrationality behavior to
campaign in the middle of a disaster these people are impoverished with? Where
are the FEMA and AmeriCorps troops to help people in times of national
disasters? The trillion dollar Americorp is supposed to be in operation and up
and running but where are these cowards? And why is Obama, the president hiding
from everything and the public in a closet speech?
The Red Cross is a private organization to help in disasters so why are they the
only visible responders to this disaster? How does a non federally funded
organization beat the FEMA, Americorp, and military to the scenes? Has Obama stripped all our emergency essential agency's of funds so
severely they can't get to disasters anymore without getting permission and
funds from Obama's persoanl expense accounts?
@RiflemanIf he hadn't come to the scene, you would have been
the first one here to criticize him for not being on the the scene. Am I right?
There is nothing President Obama can do in the wake of this
disaster that will please his foes. Absolutely nothing. @CWVf1965I wasn't aware it was the Red Cross out in 2.5 ton
trucks and helicopters who were on the scene rescuing people who decided to
"ride it out." If you think it is bad now, wait until VP Ryan's
plans to cut 40% from FEMA go into effect.
Boy, you've got to love those who have something negative to say no matter
what this president does. He visits the victims, he's in the way. He
doesn't visit the victims, one can only imagine what negative-minded people
would say. I agree with the first poster: Christie saw the president for what
he was and praised him, politics aside! That's the way politicians should
be and he way America should work. CWV1965: Apparently FEMA was a
shining star in this disaster, so now I'm off to find out if your claims
Re: CHS 85 Sandy, UT"If he hadn't come to the scene, you would
have been the first one here to criticize him for not being on the the scene. Am
I right?"No, you are dead wrong!! For all the criticism Bush
received at least he had the common sense to stay out of the way and let
emergency personnel do their jobs instead of baby sitting him.
Mitt said in the primary that he would like to turn disaster relief over to the
states or better yet the private sector. Doubt he really believes that because
you can only imagine how a state could handle a disaster like this storm if
it's very services were incapacitated. We need the federal goverment to
perform certain functions and disaster relief is definetly one of them.
To "CHS 85" if your town was cleaning up from a major disaster would you
want the police to be distracted by having to provide security and escorts for
the President, or would you want the police to be free to remain on duty
protecting the entire community?Plus, what good does it do to have
Obama in the middle of the cleanup efforts? Is he going to pull out a chainsaw
and start cutting down tree limbs?
Rifleman Salt Lake City, UtahSounds like a repeat of Rush
Limbaugh's complaint that the president's response to the storm and
the ensuing media coverage would give the president more favorable coverage
during the election to Romney's disadvantage.Talk about
politicizing the event. Limbaugh only wants Obama's failure and will do
and say anything to achieve that end. Similiarly, some here want the president
to not act as he should and open himself up for additional criticism.Of course, there are some, including the commentator, who are more concerned
with their own agenda than the situation of the storm victims. Complaining
about the president at this time is not looking good. It's crass,
mean-spirited, selfishly indulgent, and cruel.
In looking at the commenters discussing the President's trip to devastated
areas, there is a message that the President mentioned the other day. It is
very hard for him to show up at briefings that he isn't interested in. He
is interested in his re-election since January of 2009 when he was given the
Nobel Peace Prize. He has to have a good image and being on the campaign trail
has been his life for 4 years. What impact is this on my re-election? After
Benghazi, he had to show his ability to lead. The FEMA briefings were taxing on
him. He even went on a plane ride to Florida in one of the most expensive
aircraft and supporting staff. Then he remembered his FEMA briefing and flew
right on back. The President's re-election plan in the 20 page
pamphlet is a lot shorter than the Obamacare plan. Hopefully, he read the
pamphlet before it was published. The Obamacare was passed and still many
haven't read it that made the decision to pass it. I wonder if
Representative Matheson has read it.I am glad the President is using
city assets to campaign.
RE: Mad Hatter Provo, UT"Complaining about the president at this time
is not looking good."Translation: You'd like Mitt Romney
to fight with both hands tied behind his back like John McCain. How, just
exactly, is Obama helping by getting in the way while touring the area
devastated by this storm? It's all for show folks.
Obama could single handily erase the federal deficit get every american a job
end welfare as we know it and cuts taxes for billionaires to 0% conservatives
would complain. At a certain point you just tune out to the nonsense.
Rifleman: So if Romney becomes president, a disaster occurs, and Romney tours
the area hit, we will all be looking for the same comments from you about
Re: xscribe Colorado Springs, CO"So if Romney becomes president, a
disaster occurs, and Romney tours the area hit ...."Romney would
have the good sense to stay out of the way and not add additional pressure on
already overburdened local officials. Can't you understand
that when the president shows up they have to divert attention away from the
problem to safe guard him? Come on now!!
