Doing to Arizona what Washington did to us two years ago. We're still a
long ways from February, but so far it's shaping up as a good class.
He's now one of four commitments the Utes got from a visit during the USC
So utah got a committment from another safety?
@DuckhunterI'd rather Utah's QBs end up as safeties than
what BYU's QBs end up as: Transfers.
What is this kid thinking? I guess he will get to play in front of his hometown
fans at least once a year.
How many stars? How many stars?I bet it's less than the average
USC player. (politically correct disclaimer)...Of course
a star rating has absolutely no bearing whatsoever as to an athlete's
potential when you have a brilliant OC to develop such talent.
@robinGreat point. Moving all the qb's to defense has really
worked out well for utah. That 114th ranked offense just shows the wisdom of it
and your delusion as well.
Duckhunter, Utah has taken steps in the past two seasons to address the QB
issue. Wilson, Hansen, Manning, and now Cox all show promise. Schulz has been
impressive for a walk-on as well.Just because a kid played QB in
high school does not mean he can or should play QB at the D1 level. However,
you still have to get the playmakers on the field, even if it's not under
center. It worked out great for Devonte, Blechan, and Paul Kruger. The irony is BYU would probably be much better off right now if Bronco had the
"wisdom" to move Nelson to defense.
@two for flinchingI may agree with you that Nelson has been a
mistake but one miss by BYU is hardly comparable to the non stop bungling
whittingham has committed with the utah qb position. BYU routinely signs top 20
qb recruits, just about every year, and sends them on to the nfl, utah routinely
signs a non top 20 qb recruit and promptly moves him to defense.Even
these two that have committed to utah this year are not top recruits despite
utah "fans" trying to claim they are. Neither is ranked in Rivals (the
utah "fan" recruiting bible) top 35 qb's.Ironically
though utah does have a top 20 qb recruit this year, he is a kid out of
California who is the 16th rated dual threat qb recruit on Rivals but utah has
already announced he will not play qb for them and will instead play
elsewhere.Plus ca change. Plus cest le meme chose.
"Ironically though utah does have a top 20 qb recruit this year, he is a kid
out of California who is the 16th rated dual threat qb recruit on Rivals but
utah has already announced he will not play qb for them and will instead play
elsewhere."I'm curious where this information came from. He
does look a lot like DeVonte Christopher when he was coming out of high school,
however, DeVonte was also never recruited specifically as a QB, he was an ATH.
Cox is and has always been a QB recruit. I've read 5 different news sources
now in which Cox talks about playing the QB position in college, and how he has
talked about how he fits in with Brian Johnson's plans. But if there has
been an "announcement" of Whit's plans for him, please enlighten
It would be interesting to get a candid interview with Lark, Munns and possibly
even Olsen about now (of course the interview would have to take place under the
bus they've been thrown) and see what they think about being robbed of any
future for a career beyond college while guys like Kruger, Blechen and Devonte
are either in the NFL or at least getting the opportunity to make their own case
rather than being another clipboard while Doman figures things out and Bronco
won't give up on his man crush. You have to think future recruits
are noticing where you're going to get the opportunity to succeed versus
getting their resumes used by a program that either through confusion or
mis-management doesn’t effectively manage its talent. The number
of players BYU has put in the NFL in the Bronco years pretty much says it all.
What’s the latest count by the way? I’m not even sure he’s
had a draft pick yet.
I see more postings from SammyG and Ducky than Ute fans! That can only mean one
thing...it's just a matter of time before they turn and leave BYU high and
dry! May not be today, tomorrow, next week, next month or next year, but they
will turn. Like they say, if you can't beat'em, join'em. Go
Since rivals is our ” bible” I wonder where they rank utahs
recruiting class as compared with sammy g and duckhunts team?
Duckhunter, Moving all the QBs to safety seems to be working a
little better for Utah than having a stable full of "potential Heisman
candidates" at BYU. Take a look at this year's QB ratings below.
While I will be the first to admit Whit has made some blunders at the QB
position, BYU does not appear to have any proven QB talent at the D1 level. Go
ahead and talk about your stable of five star QBs that are all currently playing
behind that phenom Riley Nelson. Last time BYU fans worked themselves into a
lather over a 5 star quarterback at BYU he promptly produced one of the worst QB
ratings in the NCAA followed by a transfer to powerhouse Kansas. Utah Starting QB RatingsWilson 137Wynn 133Hays 131 BYU Starting QB RatingsNelson 116Hill 122
I don't think Duckhunter realizes that the more he bashes on the Utes, the
more it makes byu look even worse because byu just can't beat Utah. Utah
may be bad this year, Duckhunter, but that means byu is even worse.
@DuckhunterBYU has had five QB's drafted in the past 27 years.
Bosco, Walsh, and Doman never took a snap. Detmer was a career backup and Beck
and Hall never panned out.Looks like the "QB factory" was
shut down a long time ago....
From Duckhunter:"Even these two that have committed to utah this
year are not top recruits despite utah "fans" trying to claim they are.
Neither is ranked in Rivals (the utah "fan" recruiting bible) top 35
qb's.Ironically though utah does have a top 20 qb recruit this
year, he is a kid out of California who is the 16th rated dual threat qb recruit
on Rivals but utah has already announced he will not play qb for them and will
instead play elsewhere."This is both a contradiction and just
wrong. You first say that Utah doesn't have a top-35 QB per Rivals, despite
having 2 QB commits. Then you say that they have a "kid out of
California" (yeah, his name is Brandon Cox...this article was written about
him...) that is the 16th rated dual threat QB. If you had read the article about
this recruit you know so much about, you could see it talks specifically about
him competing next fall with Wilson and Manning. So before posting something
that is just untrue, read, and then realize that the plan for now is to leave
Cox at QB.
adelman, thank you, it's nice to see others recognize buffoonery of people
trash talking while making up all of their points on the spot.
