Saw this coming
Looks like the Hurricane team this year is not what it was, They managed to win
games they should have lost, Dixie and Pine View and then let a 3 touchdown lead
in the 3rd quarter at home get away from them. Doesn't mean they won't
win it all this year just looks like the talent is not what it was in years
past, looks like a dog fight in the playoffs, should be fun.
Of course now we discredit what Desert Hills has done that no one for 2 years
could. PV and Dixie didn't win and are both great teams. Hurricane is a
true champion, they play very good football 99% of the time. Desert Hills played
just as well last night and it came down to who would make the first mistake in
OT. Desert Hills showed us last night that they will fight till the end and
won't give up. Congrats to both teams for playing the best HS football
game that I have ever seen! Both classy programs.
@ Dr. RushRemind me again of why they should've lost the Dixie,
and Pine View games? they just out played their opponents hence the Wins. the
truth is many Hurricane fans aren't really heart broke about this L.
They'll find fire (perhaps for the first time this season) to fight and
bring a new level on intensity to the playoffs. it'll be an interesting to
see what happens. I think Honestly any team from Region 9 can take it. May the best team win!
No Team from REGION 9 will win the state title! Juan Diego, or
Spanish Fork! Stansbury might get beat first round, same Grantsville
team that got spanked by some good teams, and Stansbury wins by 1. No team from the daunting region 9 will win state in 3A. Keep
fighting it out for the region title. JD wins it after finally
losing the Hurricane! Defense has let up a total of 74 points, highest
total they got scored on was 19 points by 4A skyline! Beat 5A granger
49-0All of REGION 9 defenses are not that good, 136 PA by Desert Hiklls is
the best d, JD 74 Stansbury 80Spanish Fork 94Those are
three good Defenses better then any REGION 9 teamsThey are also a combined
25-1 BTW. Remember Region 6 did this same thing, talked like if they
were the best regoin around all year, then wouldnt win state. Thats how I feel
about region 9Good teams yes, but just because all your games are close
dont mean here is where state champion lies.
@BinghamalumSorry pardner. It's apples and oranges. Regions
10, 11 and 12 are much weaker overall than 9, so of course your defensive stats
look shiny. Here's a real comparison for you. Juan Diego beat Springville
19-18. Orem beat Springville 45-18 and PV, the #4 0r 5 team in Region 9 beat
Orem at Orem without its starting QB. Juan Diego is a great program and super
classy, but the fact remains that there are at least 4 teams in Region 9 as good
or better.By the way, aren't you the same guy who made all the
noise during the baseball season about how Snow Canyon had no chance of beating
JD? How did that work out?
Wow! You gotta love Region 9 football! Huge upsets of Dixie and Hurricane by
Snow Canyon and D-hills! Congrats to both those programs on great wins!
Although it has been a while since I have seen Hurricane lose, and it was very
bitter, I have never seen two rivals come together for one cause like the
Hurricane and D-hills communities did last night! Great support was shown by
both sides for Brian Scott (Former HHS Fullback) and Mary Janice Richmond
(Former HHS Faculty)! Last night helped us realize that there are bigger things
than football, rivalries, wins, and losses. The money that was raised at the
game for those afflicted with illness was astounding! After last night, I am
proud to say that I am a Tiger and a Region 9 fan! If the standings hold
(D-Hills still needs to win in Cedar, and HHS needs to beat Canyon View)
Hurricane will get the 2 seed and travel to JD in the second round! That is
going to be a great clash of traditional Titans! The Brackets are beginning to
become clearer and are looking very promising for a spectacular November
don't sleep on Pine View people. they are much better than their record
indicates. they are a bad match up for any team. They are my dark horse to get
Great game last night...bitter loss for HHS and a sweet win for DHHS! Ty (QB)
and the Thunder defense played a great game but why no mention in the article
about Zach (Hurricanes QB) getting hurt midway through the 3rd quarter and not
playing the rest of the game or in the 3 OT's? I believe this had a big
impact on this game although the backup QB did a great job considering the
position he was put into. Kudos to both teams on a great night of
football...can't wait tell the playoffs.
@IrreleventThe reason hurrican should have lost to dixie is because
of the poor reffing. Calling 6 flags in a row on the final drive is a good
reason to say the refs blew it. Many people complained that dixie was holding
all night, even if that were the case, thats bad reffing. Its inconsistent so
either way you cannot argue it was bad reffing. Dixie should have won that game.
Hurricane is good, but they arent what they used to be. @binghamalumWow, really? You making that comparison is like trying
to say that a very good parolympics basketball team could beat a fairly good
olympic basketball team. They arent comparable! Everyone said that about
southern utah in basketball and football this past year and look how that turned
out.....a little bit better than your JD baseball team!
@mightydWhy no mention about Zach getting hurt (btw I hope he gets
better soon, the kid is a true stud)? Here's why, because to do so would
be to discount what DHHS did! I realize your offense slowed after he went out,
but you had a 21 point lead. Is Prince the only guy on the D also? If your
defense would have held DH to two TDs, you win. Give some credit to DH for
hanging 21 points on the Tiger Defense to tie the game. Anyone who watched that
game knows that DH won the game, not that Hurricane lost. There were very few
mistakes made on both sides and DH scored when they needed to, Hurricane
didn't. All teams deal with injuries, just ask PV. I
don't condone hurting players intentionally, but anyone who has ever played
the game knows football is a game of hitting and aggression. When done properly,
the hardest hitting team typically wins, for whatever reason. I personally
believe that is why H-town had such a long win streak, they come to play! On the
other hand, give the other teams credit when they do also!
@ Why PlayUmmmm....did I not mention what a great game Ty and company
played? Not taking anything away from them but losing your starting QB is a
pretty big deal! Also it runs in my mind that when DHHS lost to Stansbury it
was mentioned (at least on the blogs) that they were missing a few of their key
defensive starters. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander...just
sayin. Would love to meet up again with DHHS in the playoffs! Its awesome that
there are so many great teams in region 9 this year...let's go represent .
@mightydUmmmm, anytime you compliment someone and throw in
"BUT" you qualify your compliment with anything that follows. (ie:
"Ty (QB) and the Thunder defense played a great game BUT..." or "not
taking anything away from them BUT...") Your comments come across like your
saying DH won because your starting QB went out. I have no dog in
this race, just a HS football fan who objectively watches football. What I saw
that night was a team get down early and refused to give up, no matter what. It
impresses me when teams show that kind of resolve and they should get credit
when they do.You, still refuse to address the substance of my
comment and, instead, bring up the DH/ Stansbury game. Not really sure what
that had to do with anything other than take away from the fact that the real
problem for Hurricane that night had nothing to do with offense, they spotted
your team 21 points. The problem was the "mighty" "d"efense
allowing DH to score 39 points after half time...just sayin'!!! What's
good for the goose is good for the gander. This time DHHS gets the spotlight,
@tlar22 - Go google "voddov hhs vs dixie" and watch the game footage.
Notice how Dixie's offensive line gets away with holding and illegal blocks
in the back on almost every play then tell me the reffing was unfair and bad
(although it was bad, but it was in no way one sided). It is too bad that the
refs started calling it holding when they did, but Dixie earned it.Next - Go watch the Dixie vs Desert Hills game from this year on the same site
and notice how overall Desert Hills played a better game but Blake got more
lucky connections than Ty. I think Desert Hills should have won that game other
than a few mistakes that did cost them the game.Don't blame
Dixie's bad season on reffing or anything thing else. Region 9 has awesome
teams! Dixie would be so far ahead of any team in the region if Blake was a
little better about watching his receiver's than just throwing the route.
(Don't get me wrong he has the potential to be an amazing quarterback, but
still has a ways to go).Anyway, Congrats to Desert Hills Football!
D-hills played well and earned the win. I am not saying that the only reason
hurricane lost was because the loss of the starting qb. But u need to look at
any team NFL, college, and even high school. If u lose the starting
quarterback, it hurts any team. I still think they need a coin flip for
ur #1 seed. Both teams lost once in region. Does not matter who they lose to,
they both lost once. Both have same region record. They both deserve a a
equal chance at the #1 slot. D-hills beat hurricane, but they still lost to
dixie. Do a coin flip, give each team a fifty percent chance to get it.
I pointed out that Hurricane losing wasn't a bad thing a couple of weeks
ago, but was not factoring on Prince tearing a ligament in his thumb that
required surgery. Not only will this him out as qb for the rest of the season
but may hinder his chance to become So Utah's first four time state
wrestling champ. Elison is a good qb and is a real playmaker so I think they are
still good but not as good as Prince at QB. I'm praying that Cedar upsets
DH and gives Hurricane the first seed but not counting on it.
