So in other words you got a 2 for 1?LOLWe'll take
our home and home with Michigan.Any day.
I was wondering when we going to see them at LES. It came with a price tag
though. BYU plays at Wisconsin twice. This is just getting unacceptable. We
get something only to give away twice as much. Enough of this 1 for 2
scheduling. This BYU fan is fed up!
Chris B2 for 1 is better than your one-and-done versus Notre Dame
and no different than your 2 for 1 versus Michigan (oh, you thought we'd
forgotten about that game you played in the Big House a couple of years ago,
Nice to see that BYU fans can see through the BYU/Deseret News/Dick Harmon PR
spin machine and realize that you got a 2 for 1. "Home and home plus
another game in Madison" equals 2 for 1.
Yes we are playing twice on the road but they did us a favor setting up a game
for next year. That allows us to play someone good instead of New Mexico State
etc. Would you rather play NMSU or Idaho at home or Wisconsin anywhere?I love that we are playing a top ten team this week and next week.
Independence might not be perfect but we are playing more games that are fun to
watch than ever before.
NoConferenceChampionshipsForUIF you were a BYU fan, that might
actually mean something, but since you're just a Utah troll who's too
embarrassed to be associated with the Utes, nobody is buying your act.Holmoe is doing a great job creating a schedule filled with exciting match ups
against big name opponents throughout the country. As a true BYU
fan, I'm looking forward to seeing the Cougars playing at storied programs
like Nebraska, Notre Dame, and Wisconsin.
We'll take our home and home with Michigan.Any day.I'm sure you would but, it's not happening. But, I do
agree that BYU needs to see what they can do to address concerns of the Big XII
or else decide to scale it back a bit on football.
"We'll take our home and home with Michigan." Who's "we"? You and that mouse in your pocket?
@No Conference Will Take Usplease do not pretend you are a fan
As a fan, I will take the 2 for 1 deal, just happy that Wisconsin is coming to
BYU and not just a one and done. And too everyone that keeps say
there home and home vs Michigan, um it is more like 3 for 1, 2002, 2008 you
played Big Blue.

after the ND game. Let's just sweep the season ending schedule under
the rug. BYU can't pretend. The only way to have a 9-10 win
season is to play bottom feeders from the WAC. OUCH!And BYU is STILL
6-9 all time against San Jose St! OUCH!While you are at it, enjoy
the Idaho & New Mexico St games. OUCH!
Whether you consider it a 2:1 or 1:1 makes little difference to myself and the
rest of the BYU fanbase living in the Midwest. To see BYU play last year I drove
12 hours to Mississippi and will make the 5 hour (or so) drive this year to see
them play at ND. Getting a game practically in my backyard in 2013 and 2018 is a
win for me and for all fans in teh region, even if a 2 for 1 isn't exactly
what the program is looking for when scheduling.
WACPaddledUtah is 0-1 in the WAC and 1-6 versus the YMCA.The only way Utah has of qualifying for a bowl is beating the bottom feeders
of the PAC - the Utes haven't had a road win over a PAC opponent with a
winning record since last century.
Nothing wrong with going 2 for 1 against the Badgers.@Sammy GNot much difference between Norther Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico State

BYU2018 BYU at WisconsinMichigan simply agreed to return the
favor of Utah playing a one-and-done at Michigan in 2008, by scheduling a
home-and-home with the Utes in 2014-2015.
It's flattering that our little brothers on the hill are still interested
in what's happening with their big brother after very their fortunate
invite to a big boy conference.Playing at Camp Randall brings
exactly the kind of exposure, both nationally and in terms of playing in a
variety of geographic locations, that BYU and its fans were hoping for with
BYU's move to Independence.

between2008 Utah at Michigan2014 Michigan at Utah2015

BYU2018 BYU at WisconsinThe difference is Utah HAD ALREADY
PLAYED the 2008 game before scheduling the home and home. When Tom Holmoe
announced the 2013 Wisconsin game, he made it sound like it would be home and

I don't care if this is a 2 for 1. There's a lot of time between now
and 2017 and I wouldn't be that surprised if Wisconsin calls asks for
another date at LES before this agreement begins.
When is Colorado going to payback and return the scheduling favor to BYU?They are 3-8-1 all time against CU. Have a lot catching up to do.OUCH!!!
I can't help but wonder if there are any cougar fans on comment threads
like this one that are embarrassed by their fellow cougar fans' comments.
Trying to spin the obvious is just too funny.Your REALLY drinking the blue
kool-aid if you think the current Utah Michigan agreement isn't a 1 for 1.
Same kool-aid if you think this BYU Wisconsin deal is anything other than a 1
for 2 series.
You know, the funny thing is,I CALLED IT!!! My first thought when I clicked on
this thread was that the first comment would be from a ute fan bashing BYU for
the only thing they have to bash us for. We play in Wisconsin twice. Amazing.
The fact that this is the only thing you have to attack us with is simply sad.
Why don't you just take your ball and go home.
WacPaddledMyUtesEvery time I see that "1-6 versus the YMCA"
comment it cracks me up.Ute reading comprehension... epic fail...
making stuff up again.Me said..."Sure beats playing
Northern Colorado and pretending to be something you're not in the PAC 12,
like uh... a winning team."Let me interpret this correctly for
you since being in denial and reading comprehension is similar to chewing gum
and walking... difficult things for delusional Ute fans. That last
part is to be interpreted that the Utes are not 'stellar' in their
conference at the current 0-2 + 4-5 last year. Utes are pretenders thinking they
can be on the scale of the great teams of the PAC like Oregon and USC. The Utes
are the Pac12 perennial mediocre team by their record.Any WAC team,
excuse me, any team that BYU plays this year is light years beyond your tough
Northern Colorado opponent... and BYU played Weber as a friendly instate.Own it

"prestigious" teams Utah doesn't, we already play in a
"prestigious" conference. BTW here's one you missed:BYU tries to schedule Utah but Utah says no thanks we'll see you in
Mount Olympus"Utah has home and homes with USC, Stanford, and

history. Call us when that number grows to two.----------WACpaddledUtah is 0-7 versus Washington,
including last season's 14-31 beat down.BYU is 4-4 versus Washington,
including a 23-17 BYU win in 2010.And, it's absolutely
laughable that you bring up Colorado, when the lowly Utes couldn't even
handle 10-loss Colorado at home last season. The Utes, btw, are 6-10-1 versus
Colorado since 1946. BYU, on the other hand, is 3-1 versus Colorado
since 1946, and BYU hasn't lost to the Buffaloes since a 7-9 setback in...
1947!!!All of that, however, pales in comparison to Utah's 1-6
record against the SLC YMCA, although Utah's losing 3-4-1 record against
Salt Lake High might be a close 2nd.
Uteology"...here's one you missed:BYU tries to
schedule Utah but Utah says no thanks we'll see you in 2016."Sorry Uteology, but U don't get any smack points for admitting that
you're not good enough to play BYU and Michigan in the same year, which is
EXACTLY what Hill admitted.
I have been out of town but when I read the headline, before reading the article
or the comments, I said "Chris B will be the first poster and he will hit
the 2 - 1 argument, saying how great it is that Utah is playing Michigan, etc.
Other Utes will say how great it is to play Michigan", even though they
can't beat Colorado in SLC. That's FUNNY!!! I'm still smiling
every time I think about it. Being the doormat in the PAC 12 isn't
anything of which to be proud, unless you relish losing to big name teams. But
take your two irrelevant BCS wins and be happy, Utes. That's all you got.
This year ASU drilled you, USC drilled you (insert Colorado 2011 here) and
you're bagging on BYU's schedule. Amazing!!
Those Utes crowing about home-and-home against USC, Stanford and Oregon will
indeed have the games, but they'll also have the losses from playing them.
You really think Oregon or USC is a fertile place where Utah is going to get
even close to .500? (Try FUTILE, not FERTILE.) Heck, you'll be lucky to
reach .500 against Colorado this year. If the Buffs win in Boulder, you'll
need to win the next two to even reach .500 against them in PAC12 play. Maybe
you'll be .500 against Washington State this year----maybe not, but
aren't you forgetting the ASU game and the supposed "miracle Utes after
a bye week" who were crushed by USC? Again in SLC...? Enjoy the
too-tough-for-us competition.....along with going nowhere. This year a bowl
might elude you. Then what's your excuse going to be? (It was all
@ Chris BThe facts are also that Utah has gotten smoked by most of
the PAC 12 since joining, and here at Utah State if memory serves me correctly I
think.... I'm pretty sure.... Oh yes, Utah State did beat Utah this year.
I was having trouble remembering, but it came back to me. Yeah, John White had
a tough game. Too bad that Utah fans have aspirations of beating PAC 12 teams,
but could not take care of business against our Aggies. I love my Utah State
Aggies, but Utah is supposed to be way out of the Aggies league. Apparently
not. As for BYU, this is good Cougar fans. Playing programs like Wisconsin
gives you a chance to beat some big teams and help move your program forward. I
think it is funny as a Utah State fan to see Utah and BYU fans fight. Although
BYU fans get rather dillusional at times, I think Utah fans are worse. They
have a bad year like they are having now, and they sit up there on their
pedastool and act like they are so above Utah State and BYU.
With this scheduling, it appears to me that the Y's schedule is now so
difficult it can like the U reasonably suggest a continued respite to the
rivalry game because of difficult scheduling concerns after 2016. Hopefully,
that will allow the U to stop thinking it has finished its season with a win in
the 3rd week of the season and actually play to win in week four of the season.
Wow, getting all giddy over games 5,6 & 7 years out seems a bit overzelous.
But, I guess when compared to the wac schedule currently in place, anything
other than all of "state" colleges (idaho state, new mexico state, san
jose state, delusional state) seems like an improvement. The big
question though is why a home and home with Utah State is thought is thought to
be beneath the cougars, but a 2:1 with the badgers is cause for celebration.
@Snack PAC,"Sorry Uteology, but U don't get any smack
points for admitting that you're not good enough to play BYU and Michigan
in the same year, which is EXACTLY what Hill admitted."That's quite the partial truth comment and is therefore inaccurate and
certainly NOT what Hill admitted. This is not a surprise coming from you though.
I think we'd all be fine if you changed it to the truth which
would be:"...U don't get any smack points for admitting
that you're not good enough to play BYU, Michigan AND 9 PAC-12 GAMES in the
same year, which is EXACTLY what HILL admitted."I know
we're in political mode at this time of year, but easy on your blue
kool-aid spinning tricks that don't actually fool anyone. Comments of this
nature took away your credibility long, long ago.
TheNun"why a home and home with Utah State is thought to be
beneath the Cougars, but a 2:1 with the Badgers is cause for
celebration..."It no disrepect to Utah State, it's simple
economics.LES seats 65,000Romney seats 25,000Conservatively, BYU makes over $1 million more per game at LES (40,000 x $50,
plus concessions), than Utah State makes at Romney.By agreement, BYU
doesn't pay Utah State anything when the Aggies visit LES; and Utah State
doesn't pay BYU anything when the Cougars visit Romney. The
third game at LES is the payoff, where BYU pays Utah State a substantial
guarantee to play at LES. Utah State can't even come close to matching what
BYU can pay.BYU simply isn't willing to take a substantial loss
in revenue every third year to play in Logan. With Wisconsin,
that's not an issue, and playing at Wisconsin also gives BYU fans in other
parts of the country an opportunity to attend a BYU game in person. For example,
I'm already planning to attend the BYU - West Virginia game to be played in
motorbikeSpin it however helps you sleep at night, but the simple
truth is Utah isn't good enough to qualify for a bowl without playing a
couple of OOC patsies like Northern Colorado every year.Unfortunately for U, Utah State didn't play the patsy this year, which
has put the Ute's bowl chances in serious jeopardy. If not for BYU's
gift touchdown to U on the missed snap to Riley, Utah's bowl chances would
already be all but dead. While other power conference teams are
seeking to increase the difficulty of their OOC schedules to give them a better
chance to qualify for the playoffs, the Utes are throwing in the towel and
admitting that they simply aren't good enough to compete at that level.
Rockwell,What does economics have to do with it? According to the
cougar fan base BYU; money is not an issue when it comes to the football team.
The income source for the football team is pretty much unending, so now all of a
sudden, money is the reason home and home can't be scheduled with Utah
State.Very nice spin.
The NunUtah State has never had a quality fan base and only since GA
became the coach have they sold out their dinky stadium for a game other than
BYU or Utah. Nothing personal here, just the truth. Will it last?
Perhaps.....but history says no.Remember Larry Miller folding up the
Utah WNBA team and his reason? He was tired of losing money on the deal. So
even well-heeled programs can at times take money into consideration. With a resurgent USU football team, maybe things will change. The tricky part
is making it last because pretty soon a bigger program will cherry-pick GA if he
remains successful. If he doesn't, it's back to square one. Two good
years a program doesn't make, unfortunately. And keeping a successful
coach, other than Stu Morrill, isn't very easy, either. So good luck with
@RockwellYou just accused me of spin? Please point out what fact I
spun. Now you my friend, just threw out some spin if I've ever heard it;Utah has played one full season in their new conference and now part of
another. Last year we played one patsy and this year we play(ed) one patsy.
Therefor your comment is an exaggeration ..."Utah isn't good enough to
qualify for a bowl without playing a couple of OOC patsies like Northern
Colorado every year."Mind you, Utah played in a better bowl than
BYU played in last year, and this year is far from over my friend.Spin ... that's funny.
Please, please, please keep scheduling games with the top teams in the midwest.
I'm all for a 10 for 1 with Wisconsin.
motorbikeUtah scheduled one OOC patsy in 2011 (Montana State) and
two OOC patsies in 2012 (Northern Colorado and Utah State). Unfortunately for U,
the Aggies turned out not to be the automatic win you were expecting.Utah played its bowl in the armpit of the country against #56 Georgia Tech
(Sagarin rating), while BYU played in Dallas/Fort Worth against #35 Tulsa.
Instead of spouting off about better bowl, you should consider the reality that
BYU played in a much better location against a much better bowl opponent.
Riddles,What does location have to with which bowl is more
prestigious? Maybe it's more important for the fan experience, but it
doesn't have anything to do with which game is more prestigious. I'd
much rather go to Honolulu than New Orleans but that doesn't mean the Aloha
Bowl is more prestigious than the Sugar Bowl. One way to measure
which is a better bowl is the payout. Again, this doesn't matter to the
fan, but it does matter to the program. The Sun Bowl paid much more than the
Armed Forces Bowl. The players that played in the Sun Bowl walked away with
more goodies, too.Another measure is which game is broadcast in a
more desirable time slot. Again, the Sun Bowl is in a more desirable time
slot.Sorry, but it is hard to argue with the facts. If you're
arguing about the fan experience, that's another discussion. But I think
we're talking about which is the more prestigious bowl. As
much as I wish it weren't so, until BYU wins against big oppoenents the
bowls we play in won't matter much.
@Riddles in the DarkYou're funny! That was a great laugh.Location of the bowl game I can give you ... but that's it. Pay
out, exposure, and opponent was clearly in Utah's favor. Wasn't even
close. You can throw your Sagarin rating stuff at me all day and I won't
blink ... any team in the country would've rather played GTech last year
over Tulsa.Nice try on calling USU a patsy as well. That
doesn't work in the context of the above discussion. You just can't
compare teams in an entire different division of football (ie: N Colorado and
Weber St.) to a team like USU - even when USU is bad. That said, if you want to
make it part of the argument then remember that BYU scheduled USU as well.Still laughing at your attempt to spin that conversation your way
though. Good stuff as always.
Must be nice.Wisconsin plays two games at home against a patsy cupcake. I
thought they wanted to improve their SOS?
Utah's bowl game got higher TV ratings than BYU did.Look it up.
@Snack PACSorry Uteology, but U don't get any smack points for
admitting that you're not good enough to play BYU and Michigan in the same
year, which is EXACTLY what Hill admitted.----------Maybe not good enough to play "BYU and Michigan in the same year" but
we are good enough to play:@Michigan, Oregon, USC, Stanford, @ASU,
@Oregon State, @ULCA in the same year, see Utah's 2014
schedule. So what he admitted is that playing 10 BCS teams in one
year is tough enough without the a rivalry game that gains us nothing.
Uteology, so what you are saying is you are not a bcs team because you
can't handle playing a bcs schedule. Utes stink
@ RockwellPlease explain the simple economics of playing a home-home
series with Middle Tennessee St. instead of Utah St.
WACpaddled"Utah's bowl game got higher TV ratings than BYU
did."BYU's bowl was played Friday morning when most fans
are working.Utah's bowl was played Saturday afternoon when most
fans are home. That still doesn't change the fact that BYU
