GO Mia Love. We love you. All the best.
So now it is cause for a hostile story if a subject does not recall exactly what
they said on a trivial topic in the course of a discussion with some newspaper
reporter? And using the medical term "amnesia" which connotes a serious
medical condition?A month before the election in which she is a
candidate? It has been said by some that more than 80% of the news
media are liberal Democrat supporters. Perhaps that number is low, even in
Utah.Mia Love will be a much better Congressperson than Jim
Matheson. Now, go interview "Trillion Dollar Jim" Matheson
and tell us about what he tells you here in Utah, and compare it with what he
actually does in Congress when Pelosi needs his vote.
DN Subscriber: Ditto! I agree 100%. Well said! Matheson is a
Obama/Pelosi/Reid guy. We need a change.
There seems to be a trend among some Republicans - they will say things they
choose not to remember later, and they will directly contradict themselves
numerous times. Is Mia Love catching what Mitt Romney has?
This is terrible the way she is being treated. She is a legal citizen and that
is that. Even anchor babies can be amazing citizens. She is American as you can
get and she loves this country. Let her talk about the issues. Sounds like the
other side has nothing else to go by except ruin Mia Love's character. She
is a good woman, and she has come far in life. Hang in there Mia, we love you.
She is a Great American. A citizen (anchor baby or not) that has come far in
life. Lets talk issues and not character assassination.
Lee Benson may well be a lot(!) of things, but calling him a "liberal
Democrat" is like calling Colonel Sanders a PETA-supporting vegetarian.Mia Love and her Republican cronies wouldn't know the truth if it
showed up in Eagle Mountain with only $10 to it's name, pleading for a
piece of the American Dream....
So the question boils down to this: whose memory is best, Lee Benson's or
Mia Love's? Notice that Mr. Benson does not say he is right and
she is wrong, or that he has her responses on video or voice recording. He
merely says his notes back up what he wrote 18 months ago, she won't return
his calls, and therefore, she must have something to hide.Reminder:
Mia Love is in the middle of a time-consuming campaign for Congress, while Lee
Benson is just doing what he always does, writing a newspaper column three times
a week. If Mr. Benson's notes really do back up what he wrote in his
article, does that mean Mia Love is wrong?Mr. Benson, you are just
one more reporter defending his work - and, as usual, at someone else's
I don't think the question here is her citizenship. The question is
whether or not she fudges facts and conveniently "forgets" or "does
not recall" what she said earlier. Then goes on to blame Congressman
Matheson for planting the story without any facts backing up her statement. After listening to this woman melt down on the Doug Wright show a couple
of weeks ago, I will not be voting for her.
Thanks, Lee Benson, for the insight into Mia Love's amnesia. This appears
not to be regular amnesia, however. It would better be described as selective
amnesia.Of course, her blaming of Matheson for the Mother Jones
story is separate from her amnesia problem. That's an irresponsibility
problem.Republican Jon Huntsman Sr. is right: Matheson is the better
I remember the day I was born? Not. I remember everything I told a
reporter 18 months ago? Not.What if something she remembered being
told growing up wasn't exactly what she was told?Kids don't
always get all the facts straight. At least she has family to go back and ask
for a clarification from them, and Forbes claims her story does match up with
the law at the time. If what she was told growing up didn't match what some
said the law was (and they were wrong), I could see why she wouldn't know
what to say until she had the ability to confirm it. I have heard
Mia many times and she hasn't made immigration a big focus, which is your
claim. Candidates often initially think it is the other side
steeling their campaign signs until they realize may be some kid taking it home
for a paint ball target. I am assuming it isn't Rep. Matheson
because he pledged last March in writing he wouldn't go there. It is said
that some in the press didn't take such a pledge.
Lee Benson, why do you care? Drop the injured pride. What you're so
bravely digging up and taking issue with is some of the most irrelevant news in
this race. Brace yourself: nobody cares about 'Mother Jones';
they're not even a blip on the media radar. You can do better than their
disparaging reference, if you get back to real news. At least Matheson, a
reasonable public servant of whom most of us, sadly, have grown quite tired, had
the decency to lie about actual issues in the race, not just try to twist a
candidate's family history against their correct immigration stance.
It would be nice to know where Love stands on the issues.Unfortunately she does not give specifics as to what she has planned, the only
thing that I hear from her is rhetoric.
Lee- mia love is indeed a miracle! She is a breath of fresh air. Leave it alone.
I am glad she's an anchor baby if that's a label so important for you
to attach to her. She proves there are good people trying to emigrate to the
Mia, there is no shame in being an anchor baby. We are proud of your
accomplishments. There is shame in false accusations. Embrace the truth. The
truth shall set you free. Otherwise, you come across as just one more politician
who wants to control narrative and blame the press. We thought better of you.
As someone who for years has chided Lee Benson for being a BYU homer in his
sports writing days--let me be the first to say that he is dead on accurate in
his demands that Ms. Love respond to this. I respect his bravery and the
candidness of his claims. The fact that much of his readership is blinded by
partisan loyalty to the point of clapping hands over ears and screaming lah lah
lah at the top of their lungs in this case, only makes me admire his courage and
professionalism that much more. Mia Love--you are being questioned by a real
reporter here. You must respond to the electorate with more than a shrug and an
irresponsible sidestep. Dodge Mr. Benson on this one long enough, and only the
extreme edges will continue to make excuses for you. Great work, Lee Benson!
This work deserves an award.
This type of politics only make me want to vote for Mia even more so. This is
nothing but smear and fear politics. Same thing the democrats are trying to do
to Romney. Distort his record and hide from their own. Go Mia!
After my father died I discovered that some of the family lore I grew up with
just wasn't true. I suspect the same thing happens in other families.
People often remember things the way they like to think they happened and pass
that version on to their children. I'll grant you that Mia Love isn't
making this any easier by the way she is reacting to it, but at the end of the
day this just shouldn't be that big of a deal.
Lee Benson, a Washington Insider who loves that environment and knows how to
wordsmith to make a point, should be cautious in his relationship with a
Democrat Congressman for 12 years. He should not put his reputation on the line
for a person with a family name that has been part of Utah, Matheson. The
Congressman has made some strange bedfellows over the year and tries to give the
image that he is a wolf in sheeps clothing. He has voted against what the other
people in Utah, that don't live in his district want or wanted. He can be
a chameleon and try to show his stripes to people as being kind and benevolent
for some. As a politician and able to ride into the arena with Bill Clinton at
his worst term to the behind the scene actions of the Democratic party
Congressional leaders in the last two years of Bush and the first two years of
Obama. That is not what Utahns wanted for this Congressman with a good family
name and reputation. However, Pelosi and Reid knew who he was and were able to
buy him.Good luck for a person from Haiti to freedom
You mean our newest congress woman might be a hypocrite? What politcan
Lee Benson is a great reporter! I would trust him far more than Mia Love. Mia
Love has gotten some wrong advice from her GOP Party handlers by claming she
"can't remember" and attacking Jim Matheson for bringing her birth
record forward. This might be the one thing that keeps her from winning despite
overwhelming support. It's sad that she doesn't really
embrace what she has told over and over again. And the story that her parents
only had $10 when they arrived in the country, with the implication that they
never took a "handout" from anyone, just doesn't ring true.
What's wrong with receiving help from either government, charities,
churches, or even friends until you can be self-reliant. Isn't that part
of the American Dream to help and then help others?
Thanks, Lee. Score one for the truth. While I won't be voting for her,
I'm still glad she and her family came to this country, and it makes me
very sad that she is squandering the chance to show people, and the Republican
Party in particular, how wonderful it is that people like her can immigrate to
this country and make an important contribution.
This is an interesting piece. The question of whether Benson is a homer for
Matheson, whether he just wants to feel significant or some other rationale.
I'm going to think that it is because he actually does believe that this is
a point worth pursuing. Politics focuses on what sticks. Labels stick in
politics. "Anchor Baby" for many Americans might just stick as a label.
The story behind the label doesn't matter, just the connotation of the
label. I suspect that Mia Love the politician is proud of the story, but
doesn't want that label. Who can blame her. Negative labels are very
damaging in politics. Matheson wins because he has a name and what else. I have
no idea, but he seems pretty teflon when it comes to labels and given his track
record, the label of lap-dog, pushover, say-whatever, etc. should be heaped on
him and heralded on all the peaks of Utah. Mia Love is probably being rushed
into the game like a true-freshman needed to go into football game because the
starters stink. We would like to wait, but we need Mia Love.
Fine Lee, you go ahead and promote Mr Matheson and don't forget to vote for
him either. I am sure as you are, that Jim has never ever done anything this
this evil thing Mia has done in his career. I am very disappointed that you are
joining the trash Mia bandwagon. Just like your opinion of Mia is changed, my
opinion of you is changed also.
Wow - there is sure a lot of judging here for someone you don't personally
know. It just feels like democratic smear to me. I've always believed when
they start behaving like they are in these comments of doom that actually they
are afraid. There is not a perfect person living on this earth so give Mia the
credit she deserves and has earned. Matheson, Pelosi, Reid, and Huntsman seem to
have come from the same shell..I hope Mia and all voters can see through this
cloud of dishonesty and she will be given the votes she needs to win. I find it
disheartening that we can't all live in this wonderful country of ours and
show each other respect and love but there are those who force their issues and
strange beliefs on others thinking they will be better and further ahead. This
control issue is getting out of hand. Allow Mia the right to run for this office
and the citizens of Utah will mark their choice.
Leading a town as a Mayor after being on the city council is more leadership
than Congressman Matheson, like the President has had. Congress is a place to
lead but being from Utah and a place that Democrats aren't in power, has
put him in a category that doesn't count with his leadership of Pelosi.
As President Clinton and Obama have shown, Utah is not a blue state
so why do anything for it. Matheson is a vote that could be a deciding vote and
that may lead him to be the decisive one. Utah is not thought highly of with
the Democrats and even though they provide balance within the state, nationally
it is a non-state with them. Lee and Jim can add this article to their many
flavored ones over the years. Mia is not a career politician and hasn't
learned yet as the insiders that every word that comes out of her mouth will
potentially jeopardize her in the future. I have seen too many
fault her for trying. She is not afraid to get out and work and I am sure she
has learned that this is a national race, not Utah
I think Lee Benson is the best spsorts reporter I have ever read. I believe his
memory and notes on the subject of this article. Then comes the "but",
for the sake of Utah and this country, I willl vote for Love. I agree with term
limits, so my most difficult vote will be for Hatch. We have no choice, if the
Republicans don't take the senate Katy bar the door on the Supreme Court.
Wow!A lot of the righties today are purposely ignoring the point of
the article. It isn't to argue whether Mia Love was an anchor baby or not.
The point is, she is selecting what parts of her past rhetoric she wants to
remember and is refusing to be held accountable. Instead of talking about her
past comments, she lies and blames it on Matheson. That is wrong. To be a breath of fresh air she need to stop mudslinging,
"mis-remembering" her statements, and stop avoiding the media. We
already have plenty of politicians who do that.Mia needs to stop
acting hypocritical. If you indeed said what you said, then take accountability
for it and stop blaming Matheson and stop avoiding Mr. Benson.I
think a lot of righties are purposely ignoring the point of the article because
it gives question to Mia Love's true character. Is she as courageous and
honest as her ads want us to believe? Remember, actions speak louder
than words. Her actions, seem to indicate that she is more of the same
Washington DC that we've all grown sick and tired of.
The following is found in the third paragraph of Mr. Benson's article."It was December 2011...and I made an appointment to talk to
Love...".It appears that a "typo" has taken place.
December 2010 would make the events add up to a correct time sequence.
Appointment December 2010 and the interview in January 2011.
I'm a fan of Mia Love, but c'mon. If Matheson had said something to
reporter a year and a half ago and then flat out denied it, this thread would be
going crazy. It's sad that Mia probably HAD to distance herself
from earlier statements to get past the purity police in the Tea Party. Hard to
be shrill on immigration if you yourself are an anchor baby (hate that term).
Hopefully she'll be the first black Republican woman -- anchor
baby in Congress.
As a friend of a friend said: "The odd thing is that no one would really
care if Mia Love was, indeed, an anchor baby. She makes it an issue by
pretending not to know her own story--the same story she talks about every
single time she gets in front of a mic."
I trust Lee Benson a lot more than Mia Love. He has no bone to grind here except
calling Mrs. Love on her use of her own story. Come on now people. If you told
that story over and over again and then suddenly had no recollection of the
facts people would look at you as if you were now lying. If your husband or wife
told a story over and over again and then suddenly denied ever saying it what
would you think? We all say we want honesty in our politicians. Actually, we
want honesty from everybody else. Not ourselves.
Thank you, Mr. Benson, for telling the truth. Wouldn't it be unique if Mia
Love would, just once, do the same? And then pigs would fly too . . .
Come on Mia, answer Mr. Benson's phone calls. Those of us in Southern Utah
are sad that due to gerrymandering of districts we don't get to vote for
Jim Matheson again. He served our district well, when many politicians tend to
disregard the populations south of Provo, Utah. The biggest thing Jim did
for us Southern Utahan's is fight tirelessly to stop the Divine Strake
nuclear tests that were set to resume at the Nevada Test site. Those of us
Downwinders really appreciated it! I'm not sure a broadway wanna be can
compete with Matheson's earned power in Washington.
Candidates who play identity politics are required to prove their backstory or
be subject to suspicion. It's time for Ms. Love to come forth with
immigration papers for her parents, proving her "miracle baby" story.
This is her story, not some reporter poking into her past.
There is nothing wrong with being an anchor baby. But if you were, just
remember where you came from and act accordingly. Treat others with the same
respect and accommodation you would have wanted for you and yours.
If the people of the 4th District send Mia Love to Congress, it will be a bigger
blight on the state of Utah than Mike Lee.That's something I
really didn't ever think possible. The woman has no answers, no
positions, and no backbone. She's simply a puppet for the party proper who
want to get their iron grips around even more of the state. Anyone who votes for
her over Matheson based solely on her party affiliation is being nothing more
than a pawn manipulated for political profit.
It is not surprising that Mia would not remember what she said almost a year
ago, or that Lee Benson would. Lee was taking notes after all, and Mia
wasn't.The fact that Lee Benson derogatorily labels her lack of
memory on exactly what she told him as "amnesia", compares her
family's immigration history to her political position on immigration, then
tries to spin it into a "gotcha" politics hit piece is also not
surprising. But this article smacks of anything but unbiased reporting. Mia
Love, as facts supports, came to this country legally. It is
perfectly rational that Mia and her family should come here legally, use the law
to their favor, then later support the rule of law as a political candidate. It
may not sit well with those who want to diminish our immigration laws, or
don't like that they have become more restrictive since the 70's, but
her position is perfectly rational.
"An anchor baby is a term, usually used derisively, for a child born on U.S.
soil who secures legal status for its parents."--------Yes, the term is "--usually-- used derisively", but, as is so clear in
the even-handed, objective tone set in his article, Lee has no intention of
using it as such now.
Who knows what the truth is? Perhaps she's evading the question now because
it was originally a lie, expedient to her "then story" of rags to
riches. Whatever the truth, she sure pushes all those big red buttons tea party
conservatives love including immigration so this is fair political game for
follow up. And, if so many of you are ok with "anchor babies" then why
not the Dream Act-it's not that big of a leap, folks!
I gather from this article a very valid point: Mia was a success of immigration,
but she then wants to deny this opportunity to others who would love to come
here now. How can you be so against immigration when your family was given this
blessing? So she "can't remember"; so Benson is now a liberal; so
now she is a liar. Quit the rhetoric. My feeling: It is sad that she does
not feel more empathy towards immigration. Once you make it "in", just
shut the door and tell the next people that they are not welcome here.I am
a member of a worldwide church that is centered in this wonderful nation and
state. My ancestors came here across the plains and many of them came to America
as...drumroll...immigrants!I look at us as all children of God and welcome
Mia to our country and state. She should most likely be more apt than me to give
people this great chance to come here.
Why are we still dwelling on this Birther Conspiracy theory II?
My opinion of Mia continues to grow. I will keep pounding the pavement and
working on her campaign. When I spoke with her, she answered my questions
directly and clearly. I've found her to be very straightforward and honest
and a refreshing change from the establishment politicians who fill our national
offices. I also didn't hear a word against immigrants from her.
Mia Love is nothing but a HYPOCRITE. This is why I don't vote for
Republicans, it is do as I say, not as I do. If she and her party rail against
Anchor Babies, she should step out of the race. Typical Republican slamming of
the door behind them once they get theirs and keep it for themselves. It
totally goes against Gospel pinciples.
Thank you Lee Benson for trying to show the readers of a conservative paper that
Mia Love is dogmatic about extreme right politics in a way that doesn't
equate how her citizenship was born, relative to a policy she contradicts and
now denies. One is hypocrisy, the other is a lie.I read the comments
of Love's supporters here in this forum and I see low information voters
determined to inductively look for their own premises to vote republican at all
cost. In Love's case, I get it. She is a success story as a Haitian
immigrant, who has risen to the top. Unfortunately, her rise has had political
vultures jump on the opportunity to make her stand out as special in a way that
is a half truth. Yes it's unique that Mia is a black female
Mormon republican, but it's a triple whammy bonus for the right wing to
coax her into extreme views and use her a a pawn for the fake evangelicals who
are no more than greedy capitalists. Love is pretty, energetic,
and a determined woman, yet she doesn't know what she stands for. Be wary
Many here miss the point. It's not that so called anchor babies can't
be extraordinary, it's that Mia Love is taking a hard right approach on
immigration that contradicts her own citizenship. We see this all the
time on the far right. There is a love (not a Mia type of Love) to demonize
people they feel are outside of the realm of capitalist gain, who fit some
republican form of entitlement. The aim is to find validation to exploit the
less fortunate, claim they aren't willing to work out their own spiritual
salvation and economic security. Then they are viewed as takers if they need
help. Yet those at the political top who condemn the needy, are those who define
their own rules as wealthy privileged folk, in order to claim a worthy rule over
the peasants. This comes from capitalist status achieved by any means, as long
as it promotes profit for the 1%. Don't get me wrong, the
one percent exists on both sides of the political aisle. However, some
prosperous leftists vote according to conscience (not some defined mask of
profit parading as a evangelical beacon). Love contradicts herself.
In other words --- Mia Love is now calling Lee Benson a liar.
Mia Love's immigration status was never in question. She was born here,
and the current interpretation of the 14th Ammendment makes her a citizen. Her parents are the question. In order to be a legitimate immigration
backstory, as opposed to an illegal alien one, she needed to prove her parents
obtained amnesty, followed by naturalization. And if she's the trigger for
the parents qualifying, that just makes it all the sweeter.Mia was the one
who told the story, not Lee Benson. It's time for her to prove it, not
deny she ever said it.
Integrity is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures,
principles, expectations, and outcomes. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the
honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions. Integrity can be
regarded as the opposite of hypocrisy, in that it regards internal consistency
as a virtue, and suggests that parties holding apparently conflicting values
should account for the discrepancy or alter their beliefs.=========== This is why I could NEVER vote for my fellow Mormons
Mitt Romney or Mia Love.Lack of Integrity.
Someone wrote something that I don't agree with, therefore they must be a
liberal in league with Obama. It's that dang lame stream media again and
their liberal bias, that's usually the answer to everything that challenges
the ideas and opinions you already have.
the money being pumped into this race should let you know she is a bad choice 3
times the ads on tv and signs all over in riverton on city property. side or
roads metal signs that cost a lot of money. the adds from 3 different super
pacs, one that gets most of its money from big oil. you get someone that will
gut our social security and leave us at the mercy of wall street and the other
robber barons, that put out the proaganda like fox news. all the major networks
are owned by corporations so why would they be left when the profit by the
rights tax breaks, and corporate tax breaks. mia love is whats bad about america
sell out and get your money now and to heck with the poor and the old.
Mia makes it sound like a crime if anyone has to accept any charitable hand-out
even within the bounds of the law. Being an anchor baby shows that she has
compassion and understanding which we need for those who go through hard
times.I don't want someone in office who will not make laws
that help the poor and the needy who roam this earth who test our charity. It's unfortunate that our govt has to pick up the slack to help the
less-fortunate but corporations will only help non-profit groups, not
individuals or families. Will Mia help these individuals and families is the
Oh my. If Mitt Romney has "it", he undoubtedly caught it when his path
crossed that of Barack Obama. No one's performance is further from what he
said he would do than the latter. And, let's not even talk about Harry
Reid. Be careful when his lips move!
@andyjaggyYour comments are often true for many low informed Utah
voters. With these people, most challenges of local republican politicians get
placed into socialist embracement. Lee Benson is NOT a liberal. His writing over
the years says just the opposite to me.More than half the comments
supporting Love in this forum contain no politically educated substance. What I
am reading time and time again is that 'we love you Mia', 'you
have come far Mia','Benson is attacking Mia because he's
liberal', and 'it's okay if Mia is an anchor baby'. The
mentality of these comments is scary. Utah voters?Let's look at
the four comment types. the whole we love you Mia thing speaks for itself. I
could use 200 words on that alone. How about talk the issues here. Done. Next,
yes Mia has come far. Okay does that mean we just elect her for being a
motivated Haitian immigrant, turned black Mormon republican. It's sure neat
she's female too. Anchor baby problem? There's no problem here for
liberals. The issue is political contradiction and selective memory. Finally,
Benson's questioning of Mia's comments make him liberal (not).
Politics as usual. It's disappointing to watch a promising new face on the
political landscape being swallowed alive by the two party political machine.
The possibility of her being an "anchor baby" (a term I hate, but which
the right wing coined) is not important to me. However, her denial of it, and
her ability to quickly blame Matheson for something he obviously didn't do
is a serious problem for me.
Mia Love -- I had high hopes for you. Don't let me down. Be careful who
you take your cues from. Don't be the historic Republican. Be a new
Republican and be honest and open. Set an example for Mitt.
Jon Huntsman is a Republican? Now, there's a story for Lee Benson!
So glad Gdog to "politically educate" us. It's great that we have
someone intelligent comment here. Thanks, Gdog!
Here is where i have issues with the new and improved Republican party.... if
you kid does something wrong, you reprimand then, love them, and tell them to
continue on... but if a politician does something wrong, we turn the blind eye,
make excuses, and attack the person who reported the ill deed.Ms.
Love like all people, democrat or republican, slip up. She should simply own up
that her own personal history is not perfect, but because of it, she is more
likely to be a person who can work to a real solution, than someone who has
never been impacted by immigration. She could have easily "spun" this
as an "i have learned from my own experience".It is
completely hard to fathom how anyone who is an immigrant is unsure of their own
or their families history. Silly comments like " I don't remember my
birth" from some posters are laughable. Most people know the story of their
birth, when, where, what the family was doing at the time. For an immigrant
family, being the first US born, this would have been part of her ethos, who she
is.She remembers, and that is ok.
Herbert GravySalinas, CASo glad Gdog to "politically
educate" us. It's great that we have someone intelligent comment here.
Thanks, Gdog!•10:51 a.m. Oct. 10, 2012=========== As opposed to your less than "politically educated" comment;
“Jon Huntsman is a Republican? Now, there's a story for Lee
Benson!” comment?Yes, Jon Huntsman Sr. and Jr. are life-long
Republicans.Jon Huntsman Sr. is not a cow-towing, mindless lemming. He will not sheepishly vote for the letter (R).He is a man of integrity,
and has called Jim Matheson the better candidate.Deal with it.
@SchwaYou said it all in two sentences. I also despise the term
'anchor baby' that comes from an insensitive republican party, that
which Mia has aligned herself with. There is a reason being a black
female Mormon Republican is newsworthy. It's because the Republican party
is generally not a friend of this type of diversity. It's certainly not a
friend of immigrants (in the modern sense) and the needy. Repulicans
often say the word 'needy' in a negative sense as well (so and so is
needy). Well, like it or not, and regardless of how hard someone may or may not
work, there will always be people in need. Republicans turn their back on these
people save it be the needs of the wealthy (economic justification).
My wife is an immigrant and she doesn't remember all the details of how her
parents came here, or exactly what she has said. I wouldn't expect Mia to
remember, but am very disappointed that some DN Journalists seem to be partisan
and going after Mia. I still haven't seen an article discussing that the
law did exist, and Mia was originally right. Anyone under such negative
scrutiny would certainly wonder if what she had been told was true, and, again,
it is unfair to expect Mia to remember everything she said. I still don't
understand how only Matheson supporters are writing these articles. KNRS and Fox
are more honest about Mia than the DN and KSL. Please tell both sides of the
story, and show a little compassion. Matheson is a professional politician who
has been in way too long. He has had many opportunities to change the downward
course of American, and has pretty much only supported Obama. He has been
dishonest in his attacks on Mia.
I love seeing the hypocrites out in force.Do a quick bible search on
the word "hypocrite" and see how frequently they are condemned.
It's probably the one most criticized "sin" in the bible.
So Mia is trying not to give any more fodder to Democrats? Maybe not the best
way to go about it, but it is what it is.As for Mia vs. Jim? Well,
I'm going to vote for the one that most closely represents my politics -
and that's not Matheson. He has a long record of saying one thing to get
elected, and voting with the Democrats on everything he can. When he's
campaigning, he's the biggest moderate in the whole Democratic Party.
Somehow his voting record is far more liberal than his mouth.
Lee Benson,I'm not sure I can trust anything you said in this
article when you started it off with something that simply isn't true. At
the beginning you wrote, "It was December 2011. ... This was long before
Love threw her hat into the ring to challenge Jim Matheson for his congressional
seat."In the first week in January 2012, Love officially
announced she was challenging Matheson. So your interview in December 2011 could
not have been "long before Love threw her hat into the ring."
@ firstamendment"My wife is an immigrant and she doesn't
remember all the details of how her parents came here, or exactly what she has
said. 'I think if your wife was the reason why her parents got
their visa to stay - she would know something about it. And I doubt she would
have forgotten details of a story she relayed less than a year later. This is more "shoot the messenger" because it isn't something you
want to know. This practice of burying your head when something doesn't
match the narrative is a frightening trait that is becoming far too common. People make mistakes. Period. Some of those mistakes are huge and
should change the course of events... most are not. Lets got over it.... she
has an uncomfortable part of her history that doesn't reflect how she
believes now. So what!
Gee's if she is blaming others for something, it appears that maybe
whatever obama has is contagious.
