Republicans should be deeply ashamed of this. And everyone should be concerned
about the corruption that one-party rule invites.
MormonDem You should consider moving to Illinois where "the corruption that
one-party rule invites" is rather self-evident. Republicans are routinely
shut out of the political process, but be thankful your beloved Utah
doesn't have 4 former Governors behind bars. Seems to me that the goal of
both parties is to shut the other out of the debate. Might be well to note the
"the corruption that one-party rule invites" has done such an admiral
job of governing in cities such as Chicago, East St. Louis, Oakland, Detroit,
Stockton to name a few. Maybe we should try to downsize and limit Government
and give liberty and freedom a try. Worked pretty well for the Nephites for 200
hundred years. Do a search for “Economic Insights into the Book of
Mormon” and good luck with you battle for representation.
@Reid MortensenSo one-party rule is fine, as long as it is
Republican one-party rule? Is that what you're trying to say?
Having lived in Illinois, I know exactly what one poster is saying. It is
ironic that Utah has been living that edge with Republicanism for many years,
unthwarted in their internal sizing to make sure that Republicans win at any
cost. Illinois has many years advantage on Utah and with Chicago as
a legacy, we don't want Salt Lake City to become that same type of feeling.
Utah County has tried for many years to maintain the Republican
image, which has given us the Governor that feels entitled to do everything,
even pay a losing contractor $13M to keep him from contesting his ICORE winner
from Utah county who gave the Governor $85,000 for his election campaign. We are so enlightened by a one party system and allow things that the
Democrats would be lambasted if they attempted to do the same.Owning
20 acres in southern Utah where Matheson represented that area, I am grateful
for many good things he has done. He should defend Mia Love against the attacks
on her if he didn't start them.We are fortunate to live in such
a great country. Living in many countries people are taken out.
Utahns get a view that what people say is not what they are saying. I understand Mr. Mortenson very well. He is speaking about one-party rule in
a state, whether it is Democratic or Republican. It brings untold consequences
or it does bring corruption, potentially. One party rule allows
those in power to become a person that allows favors for their friends without
correcction from those around them. Power and uncontrolled power is not good
for citizens. Our government prevents, potentially, a person from becoming a
dictator, even though some would love to become a dictator and have absolute
power. Our process will hopefully keep that from happening but the party can
become a dictator as there is no control on the party. People transition in and
out but the party is still there, in control through it's system of
insiders, which ever party it is.Law and order is what our country
thrives on. It is not giving in to special interests who would love to be in
charge, especially in their area. Thank goodness that our
Constitution of the United States of America was given from blood, sweat and
tears of those who have sacrified everything .
To "MormonDem" wrong. The Democrats should be ashamed. The Republicans
offered to pay for the records to be released, but the Democrats have turned
this into a witch hunt, and show that the records are not a big concern. Their
damaged egos are more important to them than what the documents could possibly
@reshirt again redshirt it is about the rights of the public including
those how are democrats and the press to have access to public records without
onerous fees placed on them in an effort to discourage transparency. you can
talk in circles tell everyone runs out of post all you want just like the last
thread this subject but that is the bottom line. Have a nice day.
