Back in the 16th century in Germany people were having hard times. The government, who had created the problems, blamed witches. So the government, instead of being the villains, became the saviors.

Through student loans, the government has driven up the cost of education. (It was well-intentioned, but motives are only important in religion and in civics results matter). Instead of apologizing and quietly trying to set things right, the government's solution is to have more student loans to drive the price of education up even higher so then they can save us by having even more student loans and grants to drive . . . .

Instead of making the problem worse, think and come up with a solution. For starters, don't let colleges take out a 10% cut for processing the student loan paperwork. That is a kickback and encourages colleges to force students to take on even more debt.

Teka, sorry but colleges get nothing for processing loan paperwork. They have not been permitted to charge any fee for 25 years.

As a current student i would tell new students to think about taking some time before college and save up their money. There are plenty of trades that a person could do for a year to save up money for school. I got my CDL and drove truck for 8 months before shcool and I have done that every summer since then. I have been able to pay for school, rent, car repairs and all my other expenses. It is a good feeling not having loans to pay off.

There are good jobs that students can do to make good money. But I think many students are not willing to do the jobs.
