Republicans should be on trial for treason.Al Quida pales comparison
to the level of destruction to America that the GOP lead Congress has done to us
for the last 8 years.
@LDS LiberalCould you possibly get any more histrionic? In the last eight years; the Republicans lead the House and Senate in 2006 and
07, Democrats took the House in 2007 and Democrats and Republicans split the
Senate evenly 2007-09. Democrats took both the House and Senate in 2009. In
2011 Republicans merely retook the House, Democrats retained the Senate. So it
would appear that the "Al Quida" like destruction hoisted onto America
by a "GOP congress" over the last 8 years, was actually mostly Democrat.
The only destructive budget cut will be the one that does not take place. When
are you liberals ever going to realize the long term danger with this kind of
borrowed spending. Unless I missed it, I didn't see a deficit clock at the
Democrat convention like I did at the Republican convention. What does that
tell you about who cares about getting spending under control?
M.G Scott, Republicans have done nothing in 30 years to reduce the deficit.
They just run it on different things than the Democrats but the net result has
been the same.
It amazing, this administration warning about budget spending and cut when a
budget does not exist. What budget is the administration referring to, one for
borrowing which is much higher than the one we have for spending? The
administration is right about one thing, the lack of a budget is dangerous and
for some one to reconcile our debit and credit balance sheets and our $900
Trillion dollar debt will have some impact on creating a spending budget. The
budget cuts should start with the presidential retirement fund and erasing the
$1,000,000 cost to sustain a president in retirement government supplied
security and pension benefits.Yes, the new president will have a lot
of federal cuts to contend with and budgets cuts but how can the Obama
administration pick and choose what parts of the budget a the new president will
target and cut? Those in the Obama administration can be sure of one thing, they
better be looking for another job and their time served as traitors and
terrorist and thieves in US government service will not sit well with new
The elections are upon us. Blame the other guy! Step in front of the parade
and declare, "I told you so!"I listen to an hour-long business
report at lunch most days. They've been talking about this for six months.
Politicians from both sides are getting what they deserve for failing to
control spending and choosing to print more money instead. GWB spent too much.
Obama ratcheted up the game by a factor of four. There's no budget.Imagine what would happen in your family if you knew you were spending too
much a failed to take action? Keep spending and avoid the tough decisions.
Month after month you were digging a deeper hole. Your lack of attention would
soon ruin you.Government has invoked the default cuts they all knew were
coming.Sorry, no sympathy for Obama or Congress. And no fair pointing to
the other side of the aisle and blaming them. You guys ALL own this problem.
A Federal Budget Lesson* U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000* Fed
budget: $3,820,000,000,000* New debt: $1,650,000,000,000* National
debt: $16,271,000,000,000* Recent budget cuts: $38,500,000,000Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:* Annual family income: $21,700* Money the family spent:
$38,200* New debt on the credit card: $16,500* Outstanding balance
on the credit card: $162,710* Total budget cuts so far: $3.85Got It
!!!!!You can begin the long journey back to solvency on November 6.
With a Democrat President, this sounds as if it is 1996 once again, with Mrs.
Clinton and President Clinton still influencing national politics with the
current President. The Senate and President are Democratic controlled positions
and the Senate definitely won't budge with the House's offering of a
budget. The President hasn't learned that you have to have a budget to
live. As a Community Organizer the funds just kept coming in from the Federal
Government. He didn't have to manage a budget and the Secretary of the
Treasury can't even manage his own person budget to pay his income taxes.
Blame someone else is the President's way of doing things. He blames
Romneycare for his problems with Obamacare. He blames Romney for the United
States mishandling the current embassy protection problems. The economy
problems were President Bush's problems even though the Congress, both
House and Senate were in control of the real budgeting process in 2007 and 2008
when the crisis hit. Six weeks more until the election of non-hope
and hasn't been able to change because that hasn't been on his radar
screen and not lead but organize today
I say cut at least half the military budget. We can't spend kagillions
forever. Most of the honest anti-terroism is comming from a few
thousand special ops soldiers and itelligence agencies. They don't cost a
trillion dollars a year.....
Mountainman you know the republicans arn't going to cut anything. They
declare they won't touch "your" medicare over the age of 55 so
there's no immediate savings there. They aren't going to cut anyone
off of SS either because senators will be gearing up for thier elections and you
know they want a war in Iran and NEVER EVER will cut military spending - just
the opposite. Look forward to + trillion pentagon budget. So how do
you feel that republicans will be putting us back on a road to fiscal sanity
when they never have before? I'm not one of those people that
has stokholm syndrome, I won't vote for a republican because they ARE
fiscally totally irresponsible. What makes you want to be abused? It's like
a battered spouce begging the police to let thier abuser out.
Screwdriver,The military provides many jobs, and beats free handouts
for doing nothing. De-funding money to mid-east countries would be more
effective. If not for our military. The world would be under a
dictatorship. It's not a waste of money.
Enough of the blame game. Yes, the Republicans have spent too much,
and the Democrats have spent way, way too much, but regardless of who spent
first, or more, the bottom line is we are too deeply in debt to waste time
blaming people or parties.Massive cuts must be made, and made
immediately. There will be necessary and unavoidable massive pain
to every special interest group. Favorite programs, sacred cows, bloated
bureaucracy, and essential missions must and will be cut. There is no avoiding
it. Confiscating every dollar of income from every citizen will not avoid it.
Borrowing another dollar only makes the reality of tomorrow's solution even
more grim.Food stamps, school funding, highways, farm aid, foreign
aid, college loans, mortgage loans, Education and Energy Departments, federal
workforce numbers, even Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and congressional
pay ALL need to be cut back. No special exemption for pet
projects, and no demagogueing can be allowed. There is no way we can
continue our current spending habits, let alone ever pay back a dime of the debt
without massive cuts in spending. Tax rates for our kids will be intolerable,
even with cuts.
The only way out is to restart growth in this country. Growth is something the
current Administration has fought with its massive regulations and new costly
programs. The major problem to overcome is tax revenues are down for every year
of the Obama Administration, compared to revenues during the Bush Presidency,
except for 2008. The report is nonsense given real cuts need to be in the area
of 4 to 5 hundred billion. Then a simplified and consolidated taxing system as
suggested by the bi-partisan commission and in a few years the country will be
prosperous again. However, if Mr. Obama is elected this process will be delayed
for 4 more years and be that much more difficult to accomplish. Truly no matter
a person's party or political persuasion the vote must be for different
leadership on Nov. 6 for the sake of preserving the country. Already we signs
of Greece with the Chicago teacher's demonstrations. Stop the pain, vote
for anyone but Mr. Obama.
@Rock Of The MarneYour right, the existing republican party has
done nothing, the one taken over by RINO liberal progressives, and
blue dog democrats (like Hatch) that were chased out the extreme left
democratic party! So perhaps the attempted take over by the tea party
is actually a good thing, that is, if you really want change from
exorbitant spending and the federal government ever growing power and size and
encroachment into everything...
Prediction. The expiration of the Bush tax cuts will be held
hostage. Our politicians will take the easy way out.The
Dems will work to insure that entitlement cuts are minimumThe Reps will
work to insure that defense cuts are minimumThe Reps will demand that ALL
Bush tax cuts are maintained. The deficit will continue to
escalate.Obama will be blamed.
The proposed cuts are minuscule compared to the bloated annual budgets we now
have after 3.5 years of Obama. When they extend it out 10 years it looks like a
lot, but the amount is only 110 billion out of a $3,750 billion budget and half
the cuts come from defense. Remember when politicians squeal about slashing and
cutting in upcoming budgets they are using their baseline budgeting system which
automatically increases spending on every program every year. So, I have to ask
are these real cuts from this years budget or are they cuts from next years
already increased baseline budget?
Then why doesn't the president propose a budget that his party stands
behind? He has shown little leadership in making constructive budget cuts and
seems only capable in pointing out why others are wrong, not why he is right.
Criticize Ryan, but then come up with something better. He is doing for a
responsible budget what Republicans are doing for the ACA.
