All that I have heard from Mia Love is rhetoric, this includes her speech and
the advertisements that I have seen on TV.This leaves me to assume
that her stance on issues must mirror the Republican parties. This is ironic
since her parents came here with only $10, and received help from the government
the type of help that the GOP wants to do away with. She educated herself with
government school loans of the type that the GOP want to do away with.
What did she actually say? Tons of rhetoric, nothing of substance. Typical Mia
It's obvious that when posters ask, "What did she say", that they
didn't listen to her speech and that they are not willing to replay the
video of her speech. They want us to ignore her. They want us to ignore her
ideals, her principles. They want us to help them help Obama to divide this
nation. They want us to help them help Obama destroy our economy. They want us
to help them help Obama teach people to covet the wealth of "some rich
guy". They want us to help them help Obama regulate and tax jobs out of
existence. They don't believe in hard work, except for the
"rich guy" who will have to work even harder to pay for their doctors
and their hospitals, for their homes and their education, for their food and for
their clothing, because as Obama's special followers, they are above work.
They think that America OWES them. They want to pretend that Mia Love
does not exist. Thank God that she does exist. Thank God that she is
OK, I just watched her speech on YouTube. It's less than 4 minutes long.
Not a single policy point was discussed. Not one initiative was
offered. She said Obama was a failure. She said Republicans are our nations
"last best hope." The crowd chanted "USA! USA! USA!" That was it.Love's speech was to this campaign what cotton
candy is to a balanced diet.
Partial transcript:"The America I grew up knowing ... was
centered in self reliance, and filled with the possibilities of living the
American dream. The America I know is grounded in the determination
found in patriots and pioneers,in small businesses with big ideals.
It's found in the farmers who work in the beauty of our landscape, and our
heroic military. It's found in the Olympic Athletesand every child
who looks at the seemingly impossible and says, “I can do that.”That is the America I know!President Obama’s version of
America is a divided one -- often pitting us against each other bases on our
income level, gender, and social status. His policies have failed us!We're NOT better off than we were 4 years ago, and NO rhetoric, bumper
sticker, or Hollywood campaign ad can change that."----Some say that she attacked Obama; but, she spoke the truth. HIS POLICIES HAVE
FAILED US. He refuses to even acknowledge his own policies. He refuses to run
on his record. That is a first and greatest sign of a totally failed Presidency.
Nothing he has done has worked. Nothing!
I checked the video of Mia's speech too, and I agree it was a typical
political speech that voiced popular broad attitudes and lacked specificity in
terms of ideas. Probably it was suitable to the spirit of a political
convention which is why I don't watch political conventions.I
am more moved by the Ron Paul speech which disclosed the following about the
convention:1. He was to be allowed to speak there but his speech
would be vetted / edited by the GOP in advance.2. His speech had to
contain an endorsement of Mitt Romney.Ron Paul declined to speak on
those terms; I don't blame him.My own response to Mia Love, so
far, is that I have been disappointed so far, and have yet to hear anything to
make me hope that she would be an enthusiastic constitutionalist, or stand for
specific plans other than the official platform of her party. Oh, not the one
that great platform of the Utah Republican Party that is supposed to be read at
the Republican mass meetings but the old guard refuse to read based on their own
@MIke RichardsShe said nothing other than rhetoric. Just like her
opponent. Makes me want to write your name in on the ticket as a protest vote.
Classic. In chiding posting for daring to ask what Mia Love said,
Mike Richards when on a long rant about what "those liberals" are trying
to get us to believe -- but never provides a quote by Mia Love.Probably a good thing. J Thompson provided some quotes, but they look like
generic Republican rhetoric. I suppose reading that from a teleprompter is
Isn't "rhetoric" fun? What would those posters say
about President Kennedy's rhetoric, "Ask not what your country can do
for you - ask what you can do for your country" or "...let us go forth
to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that
here on earth God's work must truly be our own."Was that
just "rhetoric" or was it his dream for America?Speaking of
dreams, what about Dr. King's "dream", "I have a dream that my
four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged
by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."Was that just rhetoric?Speeches move people to act on their own
dreams. My dream is that President Romney will inspire Americans to put their
hands to the plow and work to pursue their own dreams and not let someone like
Mr. Obama destroy their initiative by promising them something for nothing. FDR
started making those false promises of happiness without effort. For 80 years
America has been living a lie. Mia Love's rhetoric inspires those who care
Mia Love's attitude is exactly what's wrong with the GOP. I got mine,
now forget the rest of you!Her family relied on the government for a
time, now Mia wants to significantly cut/do away with this aid.She
relied on government aid to get through college. Aid that she now wants to
cut.Now that she got her piece of the pie, she wants to do away with
everyone else. All while defending military spending.I'm sorry, but I'll be darned if I let that happen. Keep your
government hands off my pell grants and student loans! Why should we waste
billions in Afghanistan and Iraq, giving corrupt Arabs billions in handouts so
they can waste it on weapons and opium and destruction while cutting thousands
of dollars in aid to me?I actually want to build America, this
world, and society up! Not tear it down like so many corrupt people who have
ripped off our government in foreign countries.Mia Love essentially
supports punks like Karzai over hardworking American students, like me.
Everything you hear at a political convention is rhetoric. Its sole purpose is
to rile up the ranks, to get the choir to sing louder. It's pure noise. But
throughout this campaign, all we have heard from the Republicans is that Obama
is a failure. If he is a failure, though, which is certainly a matter of
interpretation, it is because the Republicans have had as their openly declared
mission from day one to destroy him. Now they are declaring that they have
succeeded. Is this the sort of leadership we want?Nevertheless, in
spite of such intractable opposition, Obama has pushed through a significant
reform to our health-care "system" (even if it was basically a
Republican plan and very inadequate), helped stop the economic free-fall that
occurred in 2008 and 2009, and managed to eliminate Osama bin Laden. On their side, the Republicans are offering what? The same economic philosophy
that was pronounced dead in 2008. And we are to believe this will solve our
problems? Please. Have they no new ideas? They seem to think that if they scream
the same irrational blather louder, it somehow becomes less ridiculous.
Mike, I actually listened to her speech and heard nothing of substance. Lots of
bumper sticker slogans, but no substance. And J Thompson, it's
not Obama who has failed us. It is a Congress dedicated to doing anything
necessary to bring about his defeat, no matter how much it may harm our country
that has failed us. That and the failed presidency of Dick Cheney and his little
friend. Here in these comments we have people like Mike and J who
yowl loudly about those worthless people they believe are leaches sucking up
American tax dollars. Now they come out in loud support of a woman whose family
came to America, partook of the generosity of Americans, accepted who knows how
much government assistance, and now is seeking to deprive others of the
opportunities she used to succeed.Isn't something wrong with
Mia Love's most important message was directed at Obama himself."Mr. President, I'm here to tell you the American people are awake,
and we're not buying what you're selling in 2012."He
needs to know this, if he doesn't already. Divisiveness, class warfare,
race baiting, mud-slinging, and name calling will only get him so far. Then his
stature begins to diminish.Sure, there may be a few Americans who
are really slow on the uptake, who still believe, but most people have got Obama
figured out.@Moderate: A good Obama supporter probably
shouldn't bring up the word "teleprompter."
The best way to know if a speech from a conservative is great, uplifting,
accurate and effective is watch and see the level to which the liberals go
ballistic! Judging from the left’s reaction to Paul Ryan’s speech,
and all the speeches the last two nights were very, very effective!
"accurate and effective is watch and see the level to which the liberals go
ballistic! "We will see if you use the same criteria when
critiquing the DNC next week. Of course substituting conservative for
liberal.Consistency is all I ask for

OK Heretic,I'm calling you on this one.Just because
Kohn is on Fox news, does not make her a conservative that is bashing
conservatives. While rare, you should give Fox some credit for
bringing in an opposing view rather than use it to bash them. And she is more
liberal than mostHey, it doesn't happen that often. Give them
props for at least this small bit of their purported "balance"
JoeBlow, alright I'll accept that she's a liberal at fox, and give
them credit, but that doesn't change the fact that he was very deceptive if
not outright lying.
@mike richards I did not realize you where also a mind reader (though not
very good one) mike, how about you stick to telling us what you think, instead
of trying to tell us what we think.
@J thomas thanks J but your partial quote only affirms others claims
that it was full of rhetoric and short on substance.
How is it she is not running on her record as a successful mayor? Is this the
Mitt Romney formula that states, run only on factual errors and attack on your
weakest points? I would like to get more fact checking done on her even though
the Mitt camp reject fact checkers. I think I'll just pinch my nose and
vote for Mr DINO because going down the nowhere road, like 12 years ago, just

to perpetuate a liberal meme. For example she claims Ryan said Obama closed a

factory would be operating for another 100 years). She said the factory closed
under Bush; yet it closed in April 2009. The real meme is seeing how low Obama

@atl34 "Yeah, you should know...."Actually, I know it by
watching Obama's stature diminish. He keeps sinking to new lows. Watch as
he becomes more and more desperate, and you will see it, too.
"Mr. Obama destroy their initiative by promising them something for
nothing."Something for nothing? You got to be kidding. Something
for nothing. Here is the something for nothing. The Republicans are
promising you that they will preserve Medicare and Social Security, and they
will strengthen the military, and they will involve us in more wars around the
world, and they will create 12 million jobs. And they will do all of this and
balance the budget, all while they cut your taxes, or at least the rich guys
taxes. Talk about something for nothing. The Republicans will say
and do anything just to claw their way into the presidency. Disgusting.
"The best way to know if a speech from a conservative is great, uplifting,

the speech, Mountanman? Interesting.
