This was a fantastic speech. Very good, maam.
A great moment for the convention and America!
AMAZING speech! Sincerity. Passion. Intelligence. Emotion. LOVE. How cool is
I thought Willard's middle name was Mitt.... not Atlas.
Awesome speech delivered an incredible woman! She will be an amazing
For those who believe there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats.
Compare the uplifting, inspiring and beautiful expressions of love of country,
personal freedom and opportunity for all that you heard tonight to what you will
hear at the Democrat convention: same sex marriage, gay rights, class warfare, a
phony “war on women”, big government and how everyone in America is
a victim of the rich and only Obama can make your life right if you will just
allow him to take more money away from those who earned it and give it to those
“victims”. Obama was right about one thing; the difference could not
be more clear!
@Mountanman;I'd much rather have a president who supported
equality for all Americans rather than one who promises to discriminate against
some of them.Mitt isn't about to "lift up Americans";
he's only going to lift up those who are already on the pedestal. The rest
of us had better make sure our life-jackets are in working order.
If you want to be treated like the victims of a vulture capitalist, elect Mitt.
@Mountanman"Compare the uplifting, inspiring and beautiful
expressions of love of country, personal freedom and opportunity for all that
you heard tonight to what you will hear at the Democrat convention: same sex
marriage, gay rights, class warfare, a phony “war on women”, big
government"So gay rights aren't part of personal freedom,
opportunity, and love for one another? This delusional thought process is
what's holding back this country from true equality.
Boring, non inspiring speech geared more toward a high school reunion crowd.
Rather patronizing and you could see a bit of that from the audience. The pre
made We Love Ann signs looked phony. She seems like a very nice lady--but
she's no Michelle.
In all my 80 years, I have not heard a better endorsement from a wife to her
husband on a national convention stage. She not only has induring faith in her
husbands abilities, but also a deep commitment, loyalty and love - and he for
her. Whether you are for or against Romney for president - give credit where
credit is due - they are the stuff of what America can be proud.
@xert - you'd have to be even more blindly partisan than MSNBC analysts to
make that comment. I'll be looking for attendees of the Democratic
convention to enter with blank posterboard and markers, so they can create signs
on the spot, only when a speech deserves it. What a ridiculous remark about
pre-made signs.Ranchhand, Furry, and xert - why don't you all
just be honest with us and admit that unless Ann Romney slammed her husband,
there's no speech in the world she could have given to impress you. Obviously if we want to understand the real Mitt better, we should not
listen to the glowing reports of every person who has ever actually known him,
and take our lessons from people with a vested interest in characterizing him as
unsavory. You have no credibility whatsoever, and your ultra-partisanship is
How wonderful it would be if only all Americans could live the dream life of the
Romney's. Their world of privilege and wealth is exceptional and different
from what ninety nine percent of Americans will ever relate to; although they
try to paint a picture that anyone can be exceptional and famous. It just is not
true, not everyone can be one in a million, it just isn't true life. Most
people live their life's in desperate desperation and the Romney's of
this world just don't see are care about that. They relate and care about
their own. Too bad we can't all be up there with them, but it just is not
going to happen, so if there is a god let's hope for his mercy for the
masses because the exceptional few are doing Ok.
To xert - you're right, Ann is no Michelle, and thank goodness for that.
Apparently Ann has always been proud of her country. I can certainly live
without the condescension that oozes from Michelle every time she opens her
mouth. One commentator (not on Fox News and not a conservative) felt that was
possibly the best speech ever given at a convention by a candidate's
wife. And, you're bashing the pre-made signs, really? You think
Democrats won't show up with pre-made signs? Your abject lack of
objectivity is a joke quite obvious.
To skeptic - I can relate to living in a basement apartment and eating off an
ironing board. I can also relate to starting a business with some friends, and
wondering if it would ever succeed. Mine didn't succeed like
Romney's, but he's been there so maybe he can relate to people like
me. Those who work with and know Romney personally say he can relate,
empathize, and serve, and that he in fact leads by example. Those who
don't know him make stuff up to make him look unsympathetic. Is
the enlightened snobbery of the common man, those who think they're better
than rich people because they can supposedly "relate" to commoners,
better than constant efforts of a rich person like Romney to empathize and serve
everyone? As a commoner, I'll take Romney any day over such envy-driven
pomposity.Furthermore, why would anyone reject a candidate who knows
how to succeed, just because he's rich? I suppose many of you would rather
have a bankrupt nation run by a nice guy you think understands you than a rich
guy who could have fixed our economy. BTW - Obama's rich too.
re: Mountanman 10:10 p.m. Aug. 28, 2012There is some albeit minimal
difference between the 2 major parties. However, you are myopic if
not deliusional to think the GOP does not play the class warfare card. Just
listen to Fixed Noise. Then, imagine the speech on the mountain towards the end
of Shooter w/ Dick Cheney instead of Ned Beatty.
To DSB, One of the many good things about Mitt's father George
is that George did try to teach self reliance, but let's get real; Mitt
Romney was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and there was always wealth and
help available to him. To try and paint him as some one who pulled himself up
by his boot straps is jus plain non-sense. Whatever, it is good that the
Romney's enjoy a wonderful life. It would be wonderful if it were true for
every one; but that is not the case and Mitt Romney is not the person to help
the middle class better their situation. He will be great for the two percent
super rich, but he will turn the rest of the nations population into a servant
society for the rich.
@Mountanman"Compare the uplifting, inspiring and beautiful expressions
of love of country, personal freedom and opportunity for all that you heard
tonight"There's plenty of that at the Democratic convention
too. Just like there's plenty of war on religion, Obama's harming the
nation, we're on the precipice type stuff at the Republican convention.
Both conventions have a lot of both types of statements; to pretend otherwise is
silly and shows a lack of actually paying attention to the conventions.@DSB"I can certainly live without the condescension that oozes from
Michelle every time she opens her mouth."As opposed to
Ann's assertion that they've given all that "you people" need
to know?"Furthermore, why would anyone reject a candidate who
knows how to succeed, just because he's rich?"People
primarily reject him because of his policies. That's why I disagree with
him. He actually was my favorite Republican during his days as Governor, but
he's shown he's willing to change on all policy principles (except tax
disclosure) and it's obvious he's nothing more than a rubberstamp for
the Republican House.
@DSBAnd frankly, Mitt has no serious deficit reduction plan. He wants to
cut revenue, increase defense spending, and allegedly wants to preserve
entitlement spending. And don't say he wants to get rid of Obamacare
because there's no deficit help there, the CBO says repeal of Obamacare
would increase the deficit since remember, getting rid of Obamacare cuts taxes
and restores that 700 billion to Medicare. So what exactly is he
cutting that would do even pay for the spending increases and revenue cuts he
wants? Then after that what is he cutting that would even make a big tend in the
over trillion dollar deficits? Help me out, what am I missing if taxes defense
and entitlements are off the table? (Also numbers would be appreciated, since a
lot of people make stupid claims like, and I'll use a liberal example, that
the budget would be balanced with tax cuts on the rich would reduce the deficit
an average of about 60-70 billion a year the next 10 years, or roughly 1/20th
@alt134 - yeah, you're probably right.Mitt focused on
education, and was very successful.Mitt focused on business, and was very
successful.Mitt focused on personal wealth, and was very successful.Mitt focused on the success of other companies through Bain, and was very
successful according to investment industry standards.Mitt focused on the
Olympics, and was very successful.Mitt focused on solving
Massachusetts' debt, and was very successful.Mitt focused on serving
his fellowman, and has been very successful. But, when he applies
himself to the Presidency, he's going to ruin us. I guess he just has no
track record.@skeptic - I guess Mitt and Ann are just lying about
eating off an ironing board in a basement apartment while in college. Just
because he had a family financial support structure if he failed does not mean
he was unwilling to live a modest life to build his own success. What evidence
do you have, except for your envious wishful thinking, that Daddy had to step in
and save Mitt at any time? Mitt didn't need his daddy's money because
Mitt had the intelligence and the work ethic to make himself successful without
Obama wants people jealous of those who are successful, than turn to government
for some kind of entitlement.Romney wants opportunity,
responsibility, hard word, and jobs. It's just that simple.
