Utes will need a good defense. And with an improved offense, Utah can
surprise people, startingwith giving USC its only loss this season.GO Utes!
Well "reload" seems to be a bit of an overstatement. That would imply
that what is being replaced was great and at this position utah has never been
much more than adequate. I can understand if that description was used for dline
or cornerback but not linebacker. I can understand sitake's
lack of worry about it as well, it isn't hard to replace "adequate"
performers with other similar types. I'm sure next year when he is
replacing lotulelei and kruger he won't be saying similar things, I'm
sure it will be more along the lines of "well you just don't replace
players like that", and I'll agree with him.
ducky, Were those the same LB'S that held ur Cougars 10 points!!
Sly, Kruger and Koa Misi say hi. Sure, two of them were "listed" as DEs
in college, but really they were always linebackers, just like Trevor Reilly
used to be listed as a DE but was "moved" to LB.
Duckhuntedhighland, utahducky,Were those the same
LB'S that held ur Cougars 10 points!!-----------Yes, the same LB's that held BYU to 16 points the year before. The also scored three less points than BYU's offense last year: Fehoko 7
BYU 10.Actually, next year Junior Salt is capable of replacing
Kruger, and IF Mathis commits to Utah than he "should" be able to
Duckhunter,Walker and Martinez were the #2 and #9 tacklers in the
Pac 12 last year. I was extremely happy with their performance last year.
Suggesting that they were just "adequate" is silly.
Reload? Never knew they were loaded, and neither did Colorado. Replace might be
a better description." Kalani Sitake says team ready to replace
at linebacker spot".
@utah'95walker and martinez were adequate, neither was a star
and neither got so much as an NFL sniff which according to utah "fans"
is the end all be all of proof of the quality of a college player. @stgkruger was a d lineman and the other 2 were decent. No stars
and no studs, just decent.
Duckhunter,They were both very productive. In fact, only one
linebacker in the whole conference was more productive than Walker. And FYI,
all three Utah linebackers made more tackles than BYU's leading tackler
last season. There are plenty of very good college players that
don't have the physical talent to play at the next level. But I think you
know that, and are just choosing to stir the pot.
"kruger was a d lineman and the other 2 were decent. No stars and no studs,
just decent."Haha after I already went through all that. Kruger
played all over the field, not just at DE. Koa has been a full-time starter
since he was drafted, and Sylvester has started a few games on the most
star-studded linebacker-laden team in the NFL. You don't have to wear red
to recognize that's better than "decent." I'll admit I think
Bryan Kehl was a stud. But Kruger and Misi have already accomplished more than
he has and Sly is pretty much on the same level. No, Utah's LB history has
never been on the same level as its OL, DL, WR, RB or DB prestige, but it's
nothing to scoff at either.
@stgutah's linebacker heritage is basicly non existant.
Eveyrone gets a couple of decent players here and there but that is not a
position of any prominence for utah. Live with it.
No mention of Boo Anderson? Out of spring ball he was a favored to start, what
happened? Anyone have any legitimate info please share.
