Great Game!! Those kids played their heart out. What a great way to kickoff the
season. I was at the game and I was impressed with talent on both teams. They
will both go deep in the playoffs. I was also perplexed by the coaching on both
sides. Did Timpview put in a new kicker for the game winning kick? I thought
another kid kicked for all the other kicks. That is alot of pressure to put on a
cold kicker. Also I thought it was bizarre how Alta handled the 4th qtr. They
seemed to think they had it won. I think that both their QB's are great
players but if you are going to go with a two players system get the 2nd kid in
earlier than the 4th. I guess the coaches had first game jitters as well. Clock
management was weird as the article states but Timpview did an excellent job of
it on the final drive. Congrats to both teams.
Sounds like a great game, two top programs going the wire. I love this time of
year!! Bring on the Black and Blue classic next week! Go MINERS!!!
Sounds like an excellent game, I got updates from family throughout. I attended
Timpview, but my brother is a play-maker for Alta, so I was glad to see both
teams play well. Timpview has a very impressive crew, with lots of returning
talent, so I was glad to see that Alta's offense and defense, who returned
only 3 offensive players total for the whole team, had enough talent to overcome
the gitters of the Friday Night Lights and pull off the win. With the Miners
coming up next week, it was good for Alta to have a challenging win over a tough
opponant in order to prepare for Bingham. Best of luck to you, T-Birds!
You're going to go far! And Alta, we'll see you next week at
Rice-Eccles! Go Hawks!
They did a great job! both teams. To answer your question Sportsman, the
original Varsity Kicker(#42) got injured in the beginning of the game, so the
back up kicker(#81) took the job. He did a great job but I do not understand why
they put the original kicker(#42) back in after being injured as well as cold.
FYI: Solorzano is #5 in the state 4A all-time career field goals with 17 and has
this year to go. Riley Stephenson, who kicked at Pine View and is currently at
BYU, had 19 and is ranked #3. Solorzano is #2 in career extra points with 150.
He is second behind Stephenson in total points with 201; Stephenson has 250 for
a career in total points.
