I am curious to know what the true unemployment rate is today. This article
reports that during the Great Recession unemployment reached as high as 15%.
Today, we do not count unemployed individuals who fall off of unemployment
benefits. We say such individuals have "stopped looking" for work.
Hogwash. I wouldn't be surprised if the true unemployment figure is close
to 15%.Regardless of which party occupied the White House since
2008, the country would have suffered a recession because we had taken on too
much individual debt, business debt, and national debt. We woke up and realized
the amount of debt wasn't healthy or safe. The uncertainty has caused many
to pay off debt and/or save money. This is a wise thing to do, but slows the
recovery. One problem with President Obama is that he is hurting
the best engine we have for economic growth-that of the small business owner.
He is dividing the country rather than uniting us. He isn't
exhibiting leadership or confidence. Any business owner that had a
manager who oversaw anemic growth for 4 years would recognize the need to
replace the manager. Time to replace Obama.
Are we really having any kind of recovery?
