But this is just the press that are saying these stupid things, because they
must have something sensational or controversial to attract readers--printing
boring news is just not enough anymore in this day when all news has become
tabloid news. Only blame the writers Amy.
Lest the press and men take all the blame, let us not forget that her fellow
female American competitors went after Lolo with claws bared, jealous that
she'd received more attention than they, rather than just acknowledging
that Lolo and her management did a better job of promoting her than others'
did, and seeking her out for advice.
Well said, Amy. I read that same quote about Lolo Jones, and thought it was out
of line. There is NOTHING WRONG with women expressing themselves the same way
that men do when it comes to 'the thrill of victory, or the agony of
defeat'. And hey, if they make a little money on the side - whether it be
because of their apparent beauty, or because they're just plain good at
what they do, then more power to 'em. That is what our Free Market Society
is all about.
