Karrie is my cousins daughter. Good job.
I thought both teams look a little rusty at the beginning and simply played boom
ball soccer. Both teams settled down a little in the second half. The indirect
free kick that led to Bountiful's goal was questionable. Both players were
playing the ball and the referee was out of position 30 yards from the play when
she made the call.In the overtime, it was all Viewmont. Viewmont
settled down and controlled the ball and the game. Coach Landon must have
straightened some strategy out on the white board or the girls just started to
hear him. Karrie's game-winning strike was technical and clinical. Elle
did a great job anchoring the defense. It will be interesting to see
how Bountiful fares today against Alta. Bountiful will have the benefit of
having a game under its belt and getting rid of first-game jitters and mistakes.
Let's see if Alta suffers from the same rust (and the loss of All-Staters
Murphy, Selman, and Campbell), or simply picks up where Alta left off last year.
