At least this article stepped on a major part of the issue in the state of the
economy, it is not because lack of government entitlements for being poor and
living in poverty. Poverty is so bad that it takes 2 adults working 2 full time
jobs each to "maintain" and live in poverty. That should be a
clue but very few even think about it or mention it. The problem is not lack of
jobs, its lack of reasonable wages and business with 5,000% (five thousand
percent) profit growth and sitting in the banks. These banks laden with
trillions of dollars profit are defrauding its workers by offering underpaid
workers with debit and credit cards they can charge interest on and keep the
indentured servitude plans in place. This story does not surprise
government or business, its been their plan for over 60 years, people in poverty
can be controlled. Unlike their parents who had prosperity because of Unions and
united workers taking their share of profits, even in government taxes and paid
jobs. Government workers are the lowest paid organized work force now under fire
as over paid giving up wages and job benefits for job security.
this is the hope and change that obama promised. nice, mr. president you have
lived up to your promise. now, follow through on your "if this economy
doesn't turn around, it is a one term proposition".do the right
thing and step down, you have been awful as a president.
My2Cents"The problem is not lack of jobs". Did you mean to say
this? You must be jesting us. Over 23 million people are out of work, and tens
of thousands of people who had good paying jobs 5-10 years ago have seen their
incomes cut between 50% and 80%. and similar numbers of good jobs have been
shipped overseas by CEO's making millions in salary spending earnings from
U.S. consumers to sever employees, build facilities in foreign countries, and
hire 3-5 times the workers offshore for the money they were paying U.S. workers.
And our Congress continues to allow such tactics to go unpunished and they offer
no deterrents nor incentives to keep the jobs here. I believe that
it is time that Mr. Obama and Congress stop blaming everyone else and get down
to work on the problem. Elections are coming up and it makes no sense that any
incumbent should win. They will not get the message until we send them the
The only thing the war on poverty did was INCREASE poverty!
The war on poverty was not based on correct principles of how to build people.
It was a way for politicians, particularly LBJ and the Democrats, to get votes
by claiming to solve a problem. It was a government salve for people's
consciences for not helping people themselves. If it had been done on
a local level, county by county, it might have been able to accomplish some
good. It isn't that government can't help the problem. It's
that the NATIONAL government can't do it from Washington.
Costly overregulation and confiscatory taxation are responsible for large
numbers of jobs and large sums of money going overseas. Until our government
realizes that we are in a global economy, with global competition and reduces
the burdens placed on the engine of our economy, small business, our economy and
job market will continue to languish, puting millions more into poverty.
Unfortunately, it looks like the politicians, obsessed with maintaning their
power, will continue to punish and enslave the American people. They have no
interest it a prosperous society because a prosperous society is a free society
and in a free society there is little need for large government and powerful
BO's legacy, massive increases in poverty. Jobs go overseas,
not just because of wages (for low/no skill jobs, maybe), but because of
confiscatory taxes. Most of the industrial world has corporate tax rates below
10%, but we have corporate tax rates around 35% on the federal level and then
the states add their own taxes on top. Overhaul the tax system and you will see
Wouldn't it be great if we had a jobs bill? Oh, wait... Title: GOP senators block top Obama jobs initiative - By
Ted Barrett - CNN - 07/19/12 Senate Republicans on Thursday blocked
the No.1 item on the president's congressional to-do-list, refusing to
allow a vote on a bill that would give tax breaks for companies that insource
jobs to the U.S. from overseas... I will never understand why people
blame Obama for poor job numbers... when he has a congress that vote
DOWN any jobs bill from President Obama. The coninuing Obstruction
from the Republican party is self-evident. This happened just last
Pagan, good to see you again!I see you still do not
mention the 25-30 jobs bills that the house has passed, but harry reid
won't let come up for a vote in the senate.and no, I will not
quote you chapter and verse from a select news source - you can do your own
searching.I wonder what else the dems have attached to the bill CNN
says the repubs are blocking? Porbably a tax increase on small businesses who
create the majority of US jobs - BO has a habit of attaching that to everything
he wants passed - perfect way to play class warfareI see you also
forget that BO had control of both houses of congress his first two years and
still could not get unemployment below 8%.
You know, it looks like we're going to be heading back to how it was during
most of history. There shall be no "middle class". There shall be the
uber-rich, and there shall be serfs (AKA, the rest of us). They say history
repeats itself. Here's proof.
So let me get this straight. President Obama is responsible for a rise in
poverty numbers, but not responsible for record corporate profits? Does anybody
else see the correlation here? Corporate "people" are richer than ever,
yet real people are getting poorer. And we wonder why America is in trouble? So
much for job creators creating jobs, at least sustainable ones. There is a big
difference from having a job to having job that can sustain living.
@ Cavetroll.. Does anyone see the correlation of when the government launches
another antipoverty program, the poverty rate goes up? The government makes it
so very easy to become “poor” in America and the vast majority of
poverty is voluntary!
