So what you're saying is that if Riley the Running Quarterback gets
injured, the Cougars are doomed.
The Pulsipher kid should be back this year or next as a walk on qb as well.
Chances are he won't get a scholly if he stays at qb but maybe he could
switch positions and contribute somewhere else. He has a LB brother named Adam
on a mission now and another younger brother named Addison who will play OL in
Our quarterbacks would start for any team in the country.
Our 4th string qb is better than any other qb in this state!
Sorry cougarfanzz....The best QB right now is in Cedar City. I have
seen me all. If not do a little research. Then I would draw out of a
hat with Nelson, Chuckie, Kennedy. Then Wynn with Wilson on his heels.
I wouldn't give 50 cents for the entire lot. Worst group of QB's BYU
has ever had in the program. Not one drop back passer in the bunch... which is
by design I think The Y is no longer a throwing team.. at least not like they
used to be. BYU football not much fun to watch anymore.
ByU has four qb's that could all win the Heisman Trophy this year.
It's a shame only one will win.
BYU needs to pu more time and money into quality running backs. I don't
ever see Kuresa ever making it past the # 3 spot. They should have put that
scholarship towards a RB.
"Our quarterbacks would start for any team in the country."One of
your best ones won't even start for Kansas.
Unfortunately, we do not know if any of them can throw the ball? I assume they
all field punts.
Henry,Stop trolling. BYU's backups are excellent QB's. BYU would
be in the same boat as any other team who'se starting qb got hurt. BYU may
be even better off in that their backup is a senior who would likely be starting
by now at several pac schools.Patriot. HAHAHAHAHA! You kill me. At
least you're consistent.Keeton and Kennedy have different
styles / strengths but both are good qb's.BYU is in excellent
shape for years to come.Wilson could be a great one for Utah. I
don't think Hansen will ever start for Utah. He will end up like Lark or he
will move to LB. Wynn is a good qb and will likely start for 2 years if he stays
Patriot? Sounds more like parrot.Last year, Utah would have paid
dearly to have one of these qbs. And yes, as noted previously, the last pure
passer BYU had didn't work out too well for us. But Steve Young did.
Tanner Mangum is the one to watch. He had a great showing at the elite 11 camp.
Given the chance, he will be a great QB at BYU. The rest of the bunch is
average, at best.
BEST QB IS IN CEDAR CITY BEBE!!! byU should of gave him a chance, oh well they
can have his brother in that awsome secondary, any of those guys could probably
start anywhere in the country too!!!.......... NOT
The fact that Mangum is grey shirting indicates that Hill is leading the race to
be the starter next year. I thought Munns would have a shot, but maybe
he's had too many health issues. This gives Mangum 1 more year as a
starter after his mission. The QB pipeline at BYU is rich. 2012 - Nelson, Lark, Munns, Hill, Olsen (RS) - If Nelson if injured early,
Lark will step-in. In November, I expect Hill to play most of the 3rd and 4th
quarters.2013 - Hill, Munns, Olsen, Billy Green (RS)2014 - Hill,
Olsen, Green2015 - Hill, Olsen, Green, Kuresa, Mangum (RS)2016 -
Mangum, Green, Kuresa2017 - Mangum, Green, Kuresa2018 - Mangum2019 - MangumHopefully, Austin Kafentzis' name will also show
up on the 2016 and beyond list.
Ummm, obviously none of you have seen Hill or Olsen lately have you? I'll
just let you be surprised when you do. Hill is one of the fastest players on
the team and has a cannon for an arm. I'm very excited to see what he can
Seems more & more necessary for every team to have both a #1 and a #1A
QB.The game is hyper-violent, defensive players are bigger &
bigger, faster & faster, & I'm reminded of the relatively recent
troubles Utah had when BJ went down with his shoulder injury....Better have at least BOTH the #1 & #1a ready to go nowadays! It's so obvious I'm sure all the QB coaches have a scheme for how to
do that....Best of luck to all the brave ones who step up behind
Center, Be Careful Out There.
re:Y Grad / Y DadYou're not attempting to compare Steve Young
to Riely Nelson .. are you?? Young was GREAT because he was first a true drop
back passer that also happened to be a great athlete and could run - when
needed. Nelson runs - because he can't throw. See the difference? I 100%
guarantee Lavell Edwards and Norm Chow would NEVER have even recruited any of
the QB's BYU has today - especially Nelson. BYU has lost it's identity
and that happened when Doman took over as Offensive Coordinator. By the way -
Nelson would probably be on the scout team at the U.
Dear Patriot: Steve Young was an Option quarterback. He had to work for many
years to become what someone would term a drop back QB.
I can't wait for Taysom Hill to break onto the scene and shut all these
haters, both Y fans and non Y fans. He is a legit pro prospect..
Let me be very clear, I am not pro or anti BYU. That being said, I am very much
enjoying the fact that BYU told Brad Sorenson (SUU) to hit the road. Now we are
reading articles about the second best QB at BYU. Are you kidding me! First,
let's write about the best QB in the state, formerly from BYU, now
Pre-season All-American at SUU, Brad Sorenson. Second, I would put Lark ahead
of Nelson all day. But that still doesn't matter, we have to sit here and
read articles about second tier QB's playing D1 football. Whatever!
Fan i n OremThanks for the affirmation. Parrot, I
interviewed Steve Young, several times, for the Daily Universe, I attended all
his home games. Out of the blocks at BYU he struggled, and by the end of his
senior year he still scrambled more than LaVel was comfortable with, although
nobody complained about the results.I would challenge you to use
your BYUtv account to go back and actually watch the Tulsa game, listening to
what the color commentator, the former NFL qb, had to say. Compare his
observations with yours, then come back and tell us he was dead wrong and you
are spot on the money.
