"Vice is a monster of so frightful mien,As to be hated needs but to be
seen;Yet seen too oft, familiar with her face,We first endure, then
pity, then embrace."Alexander Pope - An Essay on Man
What mankind thinks the Lord met and what He really means could be two different
things.Mankind is rewriting scripture to fit social change and by-pass

I was surprised to read this endorsement of "continuing revelation."
Too bad he didn't identify the source of that revelation. He does go on to
say that the congregants have the right to decide what the scriptures mean.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to decide between "revelation" and
@will I understand vice is difficult but keep working your desire to
remove other right to choose is a vice you can overcome someday. good luck.
@ Linus: When the LDS Church receives revelation, who are they receiving it
@eagle How do you know if man is simply rewriting scripture if as
you suggest you cannot be certain what his scriptures mean? Why should I believe
your version anymore then any other man? Just because you believe you have the
one true interpretation means nothing given your reasoning above.
@linus Since only people can receive "revelations" how do we know
that their "revelations" are anything more then the influence of those
around them to make certain decisions. Do you have any objective, physical
evidence that proves that "revelations" come from anywhere other then
the hearts and minds of men (also read as opinions).
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private
interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man:
but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2Pet 1:21-22
@TolstoyI'm not Gay, so I accept the scriptures as written to
be the Lords final word...
What a pathetic set of comments.
@eaglehow can you be certain that it is the word of god given your
reasoning? gay or straight is irrelevant.
Only one way to know for sure God's will: ask him humbly with real intent
and a sincere heart. He answers prayers.
