14-42 is not going to get you to Omaha coach.

It is time for the UofU to re-examine their head coach and coaching staff. This staff is NOT even close to being a PAC-12 coaching staff. The head coach is below average in his entire career, the pitching coach doesn't know what the heck he's doing or how to effectively call a game (I should know, I've been to the games). It is time for the school to get rid of the head coach and the pitching coach. I hope this season's record is enough for the school and athletic director to think twice of keeping these guys in the program. New coaches, young and hungry, is what this baseball needs, not old, fat and slow in movement, action and decisions.

I believe the coaches at the U have the knowledge to coach in the PAC 12, is what they need is someone who can recruit players to a PAC 12 school that plays in cold weather with less than average baseball facilities and support for the program. I watched them play many times myself and there is a big gap in talent. If they can't recruit players that are PAC 12 talent then the coaches should be held responsible and a change must be made. The talent gap from the top 7 PAC 12 teams to Utah is the size of the grand canyon right now.

Isn't it about time Utah gave up the facade of being PAC worthy. Your sports programs have been shown to be shallow and not competitive at this level. Perhaps you should find out what conference Bakersfield is in and apply for membership!

    @Real Bass

Except they aren't even competitive with Cal St. Bakersfield either.

    LOL!

    @ducky

Two comments on a Utah baseball article? Isn't that even a low point for you? I think it's time for you to get a life.

Oh and real bass - the PAC didn't invite Utah based on the performance of their baseball team just as they didn't take a close look at our track and field team either. However they did take our ski team into consideration.

I'm sorry that your team still has yet to be invited to a conference. Maybe this will be your year.

I think the best step is admitting you have a problem. Your obsession with the U is very unhealthy.

Anyone want a slightly used 'Omaha or Bust' Ute tee-shirt?

"Two comments on a Utah baseball article? Isn't that even a low point for you? I think it's time for you to get a life"

So says the man whose moniker is based entirely on bashing BYU.

No, it is a high point as evidence by your tortured reply.

    bass, ducky and sammy:

You guys love living in a glass house, eh?

It's rather amusing that you three y "fans" show up here bagging on Ute baseball, particularly when your blue team ended its losing season with a loss to that powerhouse Gonzaga. The y's 10-14 conference record is particularly abysmal since the WCC only got two teams into the NCAA tourney. The Pac-12 is sending five.

    Dear JohnInSLC

If you would follow sports stories closely and the subsequent commentary then you would realize that the only reason that any comments appear on this article are in direct response to your Ute coach declaring his intentions to go to Omaha earlier in the year.

Why is it ok for one school to declare it intentions for a championship in one sport and not for another school in another sport? Don't bother answering. We already know.

Can you see a double standard here? Bass, Duck, myself and probably a few others picked up on the story months ago so here we are. Three guys with some good ol' tongue in cheek comments and you take it seriously.

Get over yourself. The story and our comments have nothing to do with baseball win or loss records. It's about the hypocrisy and humor we see in all of it.

    Gotcha!

"Why is it ok for one school to declare it intentions for a championship in one sport and not for another school in another sport?"

    sam:

Sorry, no get. When Bronco first declared his Quest, it was the Utes instead that perfected it. That gave Ute fans certain license, which we used again, when he did it again, and failed again. But this time around I don't see your blue team anywhere NEAR Omaha, so you have no license to criticize.

    ducky:

    Are you STILL here?

What happened to the Omaha-bound Utes we heard about earlier this year?

    @ sammyg

The difference is that Ute fans didn't embrace Kinneberg's comments. While many BYU fans thought their team was an actual contender for a national championship (which is hilarious on multiple fronts).

John, (since we are on a first name basis now)

You still don't get it. I'm not surprised.

Utes critcize BYU for declaring their intentions for an NC in football. It's not about one particular instance. Ute fans say 'we' play one game at a time. We don't declare such foolish things, we're in a big conference, etc. U know the mantra.

Utes baseball coach declares his pre-season goal just like BYU in football... 'we're going for Omaha'. This is something that the majority of Ute fans on these boards ridicule BYU for declaring and you now suffer the humiliation of 3 BYU fans telling you about it.

The three of us are certainly a 'force to be reckoned with'. Geesh.

    Grow some skin.

Ute double-standard and hypocrisy pointed out, it was never about the scores of either team.

Ah the old justification ploy. How typically hypocritical of a utah "fan".

    sam:

It has apparently escaped your notice that Coach Kinneburg, unlike Bronco, is not a repeat offender. Big difference.

But thanks for all the attention you three have given to Ute baseball. Now if only ducky would keep his word and obsess over the Utes from afar . . .

    Dear John,

"It has apparently escaped your notice that Coach Kinneburg, unlike Bronco, is not a repeat offender. Big difference."

Is there something 'offensive' about a coach inspiring his players to go for the ultimate reward in his sport, a championship?

You have perfectly proven my point.

I guess a Ute 'resurch' project has discovered that hypocrisy has to occur multiple times before it actually exists.

Can I get an honorary Ute degree for my collaboration in this project?

Thanks for playing and being such a willing participant.

    sam,

The only point you've made is with your vehemence about all this. It's easy to see you are still drinking the Bronco-blue Kool-Aid . . . you can't wait for him to announce another quest for the NC this year, huh?
