Last week’s Rasmussen poll among likely voters showed Obama 7 points
behind Romney! Panic time for Obama! Rather than campaign on his
accomplishments, Obama seeks to discredit what other people have accomplished:
the strategy of a loser!
This is the one time I'd like to hear more self aggrandizement from the
President on what he's done to create anything but more dependence on the
Feds for our temporal existence. I think this would be the only time we'd
find the President speechless.
This is definitely an area Obama will lose and has no credibility in. When your
the president and congress gives you 5 trillion in play money and the economy is
still stagnant...you lose. I don't even think Obama knows what a trillion
is, much like he doesn't know their are only 50 states in the union. Obama the job killing, corporate bailout, fast a furious president.
Romney's Bain Capital WAS/IS a vampire sucking the lifeblood out of
America, and Romney just loves to fire people.@Deseret News;
Couldn't you find a better picture of Romney to accompany the article? The
one you used shows him looking like a deer in the headlights.
Its quite simple really - vote for Obama if you want more government jobs. Vote
for Romney if you want private sector jobs.Obama has added over
150,000 government jobs since he took office. Eventually there will be so few
private sectors jobs left to PAY for the government employees that the system
will collapse on itself.
Now for some REAL Journalism in the Public Interest. The U.S. economy has been
staggering for months and is still millions of jobs away from recovering from
the nearly 9 million jobs lost since the start of the recession. Indeed, the
official unemployment rate has hovered around 9 percent or 10 percent for more
than two years. Overall, job creation has been relatively meager during the
Obama administration, particularly compared to the massive job losses brought on
by the recession. According to the St. Louis Federal Reserve, even if job
creation were happening at pre-recession levels, it would take us 11 years to
get back to an unemployment rate of 5 percent. Romney says Obama's jobs
record a failure. When President Obama took office, the economy was losing more
than 700,000 jobs per month. As CEO of Bain Capital, Romney profited as five
of the companies under his firm's direction went bankrupt, and thousands of
workers lost their jobs. One particularly brutal round of firings came back to
haunt Romney during his failed 1994 Senate campaign, when laid-off workers
protested his candidacy. That's all the RNC gives us to vote
Fitness Freak; the fact is since the recession government jobs are at an all
time low. The job recovery has been mostly in the private sector. We all would
like to see job growth and the economy move at a faster pace but it is moving in
the right direction. I have to wonder if Mitt were president would we have a
auto industry here in the United States? And don't forget it was under the
Bush administration that got us into this economic mess in the first place. The
all time highest cut in taxes for the wealthy at the expense of the workers. We
need a balanced budget but not at the expense of education, infrastructure, the
environment, and the safety net programs our society relies on. Mitt Romney
wants to take us back to the same failed policies that got us into the economic
mess in the first place.
Slash and burn, smoke and mirrors, divide the Country is all Obama has. He
certainly has no record to run on. So whats left try and bring the other guy
down. What the Government needsw is someone like Romney to cut the fat out of a
Why we need a safety net. That will be the outcome of discussions
about Romney's business experience at Bain Capital. It will educates the
public about how capitalism works, how it results in winners (Romney and
Bain's investors) and losers (those layed off), and the need for government
safety nets for victims. The GOP loves to poke fun at Obama in how he
took his fancy Harvard education (in Constitution law) to work in the Chicago
projects as a low-paid "community organizer." However, I think people
may think twice about how Romney took his same fancy Harvard degrees (in law and
business) to make his fortune in leveraged buy-outs and "fixing"
companies, usually at the expense of middle-class workers -- most of whom had to
resort to government programs to keep food on the table and a roof over their
heads. Don't get me wrong -- it is totally legal and necessary
what Romney did for the good of capitalism and money making. But we do need
people like community organizers to work with the disenfanchized victims of the
capitalistic system.Capitalism needs the government safety net.
Let's hope the GOP recognizes that!
Personally I would love to stick a vampire on the current government dole.
Either we suck the blood out of them or they suck the life out of us. Just look at the current state of California if you don't believe
me...BILLIONS in the hole and now looking to cut thousands of education jobs.No one ever accused Dems of being a vampire for cutting thousands of
education jobs because they can't balance their budget!Let's get some ex-teachers or Solyandra employees to do the same
commercial in reverse.
Why would anyone want to elect a presedent that would take us back to the failed
economic policies that got us into the recession in the first place? That has
been under Republican presidents. The job of government is to protect all of the
citizens of the United States. It is not hey your on your own and good luck. I
don't want a presedent with a big bussiness corporate mentality. I
don't want someone who is only out for a profit at the expense of the rest
of us. Many of the workers who lost their jobs because of how Bain Capital works
know it was not looking our for their interests.
I'm curious how many of these advocates of Romney will still be happy when
they are the ones who loose their jobs? When people speak of
government jobs verses private sector... they don't realize that both are
linked into one. You can't have one without the other. I'm also
amazed by the number of people who have so called 'government jobs'
yet complain about it. Really... you owe the gov't your livelyhood! Advances in technology have had the biggest impact on our economy. Some
advances, while they appear good, are actually a negative. Technology has
replaced many of the past services people provided. Those people are now
looking for work!
We know the GOP won't answer that question about their jbs created, because
all they care about is MORE guns for the hunters, (remember the NRA says that
"Guns are inanimate objects" and don't kill people hogwash), and
subsidies for the Koch Brother's that killed jobs in their war against
Obama and their "Rich and Famous" and more tax breaks for them alone.
Yes it's their "welfare for the rich" government subsidies to big
business that don't create jobs, just send them overseas, pork-barrel
Pentagon contracts to weapons makers, huge tax breaks for wealthy individuals,
and most recently, colossal contracts for post-Katrina reconstruction to
politically connected companies like Halliburton. Blame the GOP and their
deregulated commodities modernization act. We can't afford a situation
where some speculators can reap millions, while millions of American families
get the short end of the stick at the pumps, can we now?. Let's address
the "drive-by-giant-talking-head" news media and their search for
"Obama AND Larry Sinclair." We can't TRUST no-one in Washington DC
anymore, even when Obama voices his support for gay marriage. They
all lie.My honest views.
Where's those Koch Brother's and GOP jobs created in the past 12
years?. Oh, I forgot, Beck and Limbaugh all want Obama to fail. It's all still about our economy. The Obama campaign
apparently didn't look backwards into history when selecting its new
campaign slogan, "Forward" a word with a long and rich association with
European Marxism. Many Communist and radical publications and entities
throughout the 19th and 20th centuries had the name "Forward!" or its
foreign cognates. Wikipedia has an entire section called "Forward (generic
name of socialist publications)." The name Forward carries a special
meaning in socialist political terminology. It has been frequently used as a
name for socialist, communist and other left-wing newspapers and publications,
the online encyclopedia explains. The slogan "Forward!" reflected the
conviction of European Marxists and radicals that their movements reflected the
march of history, which would move forward past capitalism and into socialism
and communism. The Obama campaign released its new campaign slogan in a
7-minute video. The title card has simply the word "Forward" with the
"O" having the familiar Obama logo from 2008.
There is a fundamental lack of understanding that many in this country have
about how the economy works, and how jobs are created. The reality is that in
2012 there is no longer a freedom to fail. Romney followed the capitalist model
when he worked at Bain. Businesses were streamlined and others were trimmed.
There is no guarantee to a job, or even a high paying job. The purpose of any
business should be to make a profit. Those profits expand wealth for the
investors to invest in other businesses. When the pie grows, everyone does
better. Today 47% of this U.S. citizens pay zero federal income taxes. President
Obama is a product of his education, grounded in theory and progressive
ideology. He has no idea on a practical level how the nation’s economy
actually works. He has decided that only government picks the winners and that
does not work. I have been laid off, RIF’d, downsized, and even
terminated, that is life in a capitalist society. Yes, it hurts. What is the
alternative? I would rather trust a man that has actually built something than a
President that never has.
Bush did it. Is Obama posting here under a new name. Carter started this with
government overriding capitalism. Remember everyone gets a house no matter how
you can pay for it. The problem was expanded with Clinton/Reno. The unraveling
started when the Dems took Congress in 2006. Barney Frank/Chris Dodd. Bush did
it what tired old mantra. Now as the old Platter song The Great Pretender Obama
sinks the ship.
To call what Bain Capital does "building the economy" is like saying
that George W. Bush was a "rancher". In the leveraged buy-out business,
the word for someone whose goal is adding jobs is - "unemployed". At any
rate, we haven't had a really successful businessman/president since
Washington. And if Mitt is being honest, he'd admit that hiring people is
the LAST thing a business does if there is any other way to put out the product.
Bain invests in risky companies - ones that are just starting or that are in
serious need of help. Of the 100 or so companies that Bain invested in when Mitt
was with the company, 88 had positive outcomes with the other 12 eventually
folding (these numbers actually extend out 7 years after Mitt left Bain, just to
be as comprehensive as possible - a number of those with negative outcomes went
bankrupt after Mitt left Bain). 88/100 with risky companies is a phenomenal
success! There are many companies employing a lot of people because of Bain. Of
course it wasn't all Mitt Romney but if Pres. Obama is going to criticize
him for job losses and bankruptcies, we have to credit him with the successes
too.But guess what? In order to save companies that are struggling
(most of what Bain does), you have to restructure - that means people have to be
fired. Companies cannot survive with more employees than they can support. Bain
profited as people were fired - true - but without Bain, many of the companies
would have gone bankrupt or never got off the ground and then where would the
rest of the workers be? Not there.
Where's those GOP Wall Street jobs?. Obama's criticism of
Wall Street compared to his cozy relationship with Wall Street executives. He
has been a vocal critic of Wall Street, claiming he wasn't elected to help
fat cat bankers on Wall Street. But his past and present tell a different
story. Obama voted for the Wall Street bailout. Then he accepted $42 million
for his campaign from Wall Street bankers and financial insiders. More than any
other candidate in history. Finally he filled his White House full of Wall
Street Executives. His new Chief of Staff, Jack Lew, accepted a nearly $1
million bonus from Citigroup after taxpayers bailed them out. And in the
ultimate act of irony, Obama appointed Jon Corzine who lost $1.2 billion in
investor money on Wall Street to be his advisor on stimulus. It's easy to
be a critic of convenience. Except when a mountain of evidence tells a
different story. President Obama may be trying to deny his support of Wall
Street but Wall Street sure supports Obama.Obama who doesn't get it and
Americans need to tell Obama to come clean about his Wall Street ties also.
"And if Mitt is being honest, he'd admit that hiring people is the LAST
thing a business does if there is any other way to put out the product."Mark B,Are you a business owner, or are you just speculating
what a businessman might or might not do? I don't think you realize that
companies like to grow. Did Staples, after being rescued by Bain, just decide
that whatever stores they had at the time was sufficient? Did they just say,
"well, we have enough workers to put out our product, so let's not hire
anymore"? I don't think so.
Mohokat is right, the economic mess really began, not with the last two years of
Bush, but with the first two years of Pelosi and Reid, in 2006. Obama came in,
made it total Democrat control. When the Democrats run things, they run them
into bankruptcy. After watching this Democratic display for the last 6 years,
there is no doubt that the Democrat Party believes that the American people and
American business are there to work for and serve the Government first. If a
majority of the people begin to believe that, then welcome to European style
socialism. If any of you think that is a good system, fine. Just don't
get riled when we, who don't like it, call you socialists. Own it.
Baron: disenfanchized victims? Those folks who lost jobs also lost their right
to vote? I think not.Travelrus asks: "Why would anyone want to
elect a presedent that would take us back to the failed economic policies that
got us into the recession in the first place?"This appears to me
to be an assumption that is not entirely true. Every administration has had a
mixture of success and failure when it comes to the economy. This is the one
thing that has most impressed me about Mr. Romney is that he is flexible. In
other words, if something is not working let's change the strategy. Mr.
Obama's on-going mantra is "spend, spend, spend" whether it works
or not.Jared said: "Companies cannot survive with more employees
than they can support."An excellent point and one that the
federal government needs to learn in regard to its employees, welfare
recipients, and others.
Obama who has never managed a business in his entire life criticizing Romney for
his business decisions; now that is funny.
Obama has spent over a billion dollars of our money for lavish vacations, and
doesn't care who lost their job or got hurt.
I respectfully challenge worf's claim of a billion dollars spent on first
family vacations. He will have to do a lot more than just spew out numbers.
Let's see some specifics, please.
The mendacity of Romney's critics and the loss facts regarding Bain Capital
is staggering. The president can only use untruths as a campaign base rather the
failed policies of this admin. To think that Obama's "business
plan", typified by Solyndra, failed crony capitalism, borrowing $0.40+ of
every dollar spent, etc., is any better than the worst of Bain Capital is
Being the employer of government, here are some better methods then undercutting
and promoting rhetoric:* let's compare school transcripts* have a police background check for both candidates* have birth
certificates, and other important documents for public view.* allow each
candidate up to a half hour answering carefully put together questions as a form
of debate. Have each candidate submit at least three of the questions.*
give each an identical IQ and high school standardized tests for the people to
compare. This would be much more effective than hearing constant

What will he think of next? No. Seriously. What will he think of
next? Obama needs help and he's desperate enough to try anything at this
The President will use words and thoughts like this to take the heat off of him
and put it on someone else. The proof is in the pudding. He will blame the
Republicans that they gave him a bad hand when he became President and that
President Bush set him up for job failure. President Obama ran on hope and
change. He had advisers and campaign people that knew everything about
campaigning but not about being a President. You are to be a diplomat as the
President. You don't go around the world apologizing for everything since
George Washington was President and even General of the U.S. Army and Navy. We
have done somethings incorrectly over the years but compared to the billions of
events and courses of action, it is such a small number of things of error. We
are a great nation because of our God and the Founding Fathers. We needed to be
a light to the world. We are not the best we have been since President Obama
has become the President. We are the United States. He wants us to be the
Divided States. Presidents are to bring unity as after 9/11.

I bet President Obama thinks money grows on trees and not produced by work,
thought and sacrificing. He has never had to do that in his life and he is not
a team player with the real citizens of the United States of America. I think
of the picture of him in his power room with all the others of his staff and
administration while the Bin Laden ending was happening. He didn't look
like he was in charge. He had a befuddled look as he was thinking, "you got
to be kidding, this is happening on my watch?" Even Joe Biden may have had
a more in charge look, which is scarey. We should be grateful that the Seals
and others have complained how this President uses the "I", "I",
"I", did this and "I" did that. The President thinks that
everything in the Government happens just because he is there or around the
world on trips. He needs a reality check and hopefully he will get that in or
prior to November 2012. We live in a time of instant communication potential
and not everything we see or hear is the truth or happening. Mitt is Real.
The following is taken from the Hawaii Reporter and can be found simply by
googling cost of obama vacations. It was the the first hit:"The
total cost (based on what is known) for a 17-day round trip vacation to Hawaii
for the President and his family and staff and security is an estimated
$4,113,038."The article provides detail on specific expenses.
Just seems like a lot of money when government is already way overspending its
Why didn't Michelle Obama go to some place in the U.S. when she took her
daughters and some others on a vacation to Spain. It cost millions, and it
would have been money better spent in American communities first. That is the
out of touch insensitivity of the real Obamas. They're the ones living
large on the tax payer dollar. At least Mitt is living large on money he
