Utah believes it played to best of its abilities in reaching the postseason
I felt the Jazz as a team did well this year but fell short of expectations.
There were to many dissappointing loses, most mentioned in this article, that
would have allowed the Jazz to be in a better playoff position. They won
several games against some of the best teams in the NBA and would turn around
and lose to some of the worst. Had they won a few of those games they should
have won I believe they would still be playing. The Spurs are the best team in
the league right now and nobody, not even Miami, beats them if they play the way
they did against Utah. It would have been nice to face a Clippers or Memphis
team in the first round instead of San Antonio. Those losses really hurt. That said I see a better future for the Jazz. Hopefully Hayward makes
another stride this offseason and Alec Burks sees significant improvement as
well. It wold be nice if he developed into a lock down defender with his
athletism. If Milsap can develop an outside threat the big 3 up front will be
formidable and should start next year.
I would like the Jazz to get back to their multi-cultural roots (Klinko, Okur,
Fesenko). They were developing an international following. I feel that this is a
big mistake. I also feel that this would help the development of Kanter. We are
now a global society and I thought that the Jazz reflected this from Stockton to
Malone to D-Will to Kirilenko and Boozer. Please get that feeling back and also
work on more diversity for the cheerleaders. Go Jazz! Be a leader!
I like Dragic, Lee, and Williams, in that order. Would pass on the others.
How many outside shooters have the Jazz traded or passed on? Jimmer is the
latest. They talk about D., but we need O. A 3 erases a 2, get three guys who
can shoot 50% of 3's, add some fire inside and see what happens. Anybody
with the will can learn to play defense. It takes talent to consistently score
from outside. And who is responsible for Gordon Haywood consistently passing up
good shots resulting in last second bad shots going up? Unleash and encourage
him to score, attack, play with abandon, don't briddle the talent, then
talk about needing some.
We need Dragic and Lee we dont need Mo Williams...if Possible...we could get
Ersan Illyasova as well...im sure Portland wont give away Nicolas Batum...Trade
Al Jefferson and Devin Harris probably for a serviceable big...who knows how to
defend the post...move Favors to the starting spot...and increase Kanter's
minutes...we might get the following lineupFavorsMillsapIllyasovaHaywardDragicKanterServiceable Big (Kaman? Asik?)CarollLeeTinsley/WatsonEvansthis way we would have depth..then change the coaching
staff@DRaythe offensive sets...limits Hayward's
playmaking ability...he can and will create his own shot...i think he could be
that good of a player...the problem is...Corbin sometimes has lack of confidence
with his players...more the reason to get a new coach...i'd rather
experiment having Jeff Van Gundy as coach...or a coach who is willing to create
plays to maximize every player's ability...and is not afraid to play the
young players when they are playing well...unlike corbin...who will plug the
entire starting lineup when the kids are the ones who are on fire...
