Jazz will probably stick with same starters for game 4
Hope we get a new coach...clearly Tyrone Corbin isnt that good of a coach
The one and only player on the Jazz team that every team in the NBA would want
to have is Favors. And Corbin hasn't yet figured out that he should be
Favors should become a great player in time (baring injury) but the real need
for the jazz is more consistent perimeter shooting. Defenses are clogging the
paint. Like it or not the NBA has become a 3 point shooting league. You must
be able to defend the 3 point line and you got to have several consistent 3
point shooters. The 3 point plays are killing the jazz, and they have for the
last 3 or 4 years.
Derek Favors has a very bright future. You can't teach size, athleticism,
and passion. He will be a monster; it's amazing to watch how he dominates
the paint on defense like he does-- and his offense is getting better and
better. He's very much in the same mold and Dwight Howard; I'm excited
to sit back on watch this kid continue to develop.
I agree with Mike. There is a reason the Spurs can pack the paint on defense and
the Jazz can't. The Spurs have shooters who knock down open threes and the
Jazz don't. Hayward had been playing really well towards the end of the
season but he hasn't been able to hit anything in this series. Harris
occasionally gets hot and hits a couple jumpers but there are no shooters that
other teams have to respect.Favors is a lot of fun to watch. I love
the blocked shots. His offense is slowly coming along. He needs to be starting
next year. Jefferson seems like a good guy and he has become a better passer and
defender this year, but in the long run Favors is the better player. You
can't underestimate how Favors defense in the paint changes the game.
Unfortunately alot of fans are missing the obvious here. Most think it is the 3
point shooting that has doomed the Jazz in this series. Guess
what? The Jazz have held the Spurs to below their season average for
3 pt %. The Spurs are shooting 40% instead of 41%. Yes that is fairly
insignificant but the real reason we are getting killed is:1. We are
scoring am average of 14 pts BELOW our season average in the paint.2. Al Jefferson is NOT getting to the free throw line.It is
embarrasing when a rookie like Burkes steps onto the floor and gets to the line
twice as much in 15 minutes as your supposed offensive leader did in the first
two games combined!!It is embarrassing when an aging veteran on the
downside of their career is dominating your 27 year old (NBA prime) power
forward/Center position. It is embarrassing when Boris Diaw who has
been known for being soft his entire career is dominating Millsap at both ends
of the floor.AJ's pick and roll defense was horrific from the
opening tip and that is what has made it impossible to guard Tony Parker.
Stick with the same line up and cross your fingers hoping for different results
Yes Jazz Source, But the reason the bigs hare having problems scoring, is mostly
due to the fact that the Spurs correctly have little respect for the Jazz's
perimeter shooting, and so they pack the paint and force Jefferson and Milsap
away from where they are most effective. Favors has been more effective because
of his All Star athletic ability and because the Spurs know less about his game.
And, as much as I hate to say it, we need a passing point guard that can
operate in the Jazz offense better. Harris is a fine point guard, but he is not
what the Jazz need for the long haul. I suppose that I have been spoiled by the
likes of Stockton and Williams. There is a guy from Phoenix that still has a
couple of good years in him.
Al Jefferson is a huge problem...he is worse than boozer...at least boozer can
shoot the ball from the perimeter...maybe that's why the Timberwolves
traded him for almost nothing...because they know...defensively...Darko Milicic
is better than Al Jefferson...now about devin harris...he isnt consistent...and
is better not having him...i think Goran Dragic is a free agent...i hope we get
him...and ship harris someplace else...we sorely lack an outside threat...Gordon
Hayward on his rookie season showed he can somewhat shoot...but the additional
lbs he got this offseason...and a compressed season...didnt go so well...i have
to rule him out for now...since our shooting coach...made the team's
overall shooting percentage worse...probably trade for Eric Gordon?...I think
the Jazz...should have tried to get Monta Ellis...Al Jefferson for Monta Ellis?
wouldnt be that bad...we could even give Devin Harris and CJ Miles...and they
could throw in Dorrel Wright or Brandon Rush + a future first round pick...i
just hope there would be changes this offseason...
