Our economy is so bad even illegal immigrants can't find work! Now
that's saying something.
I thought it was the other way around: I thought Americans wanted the work the
illegals were taking!
Republicans are going to hate this....
I'm a bit skeptical about the numbers. Passel/Pew use the remainder or
residual theory of calculating illegal aliens. Basically, the formula says that
if we know the total number of foreign-born, and we subtract the number of LPRs
and Naturalized...all the rest must be illegal. They've been proven
off by as many as 10 million illegals. Now, the US Visit program was
supposed to track the exit of visa holders, but it has never worked right. And the Census refused to ask about immigration status. So how do they know
that numbers are down?Like I said, I'm skeptical.
LDSlibby- why? I think I see it as tougher regulation has helped. Stepping up
border patrols and increasing the man power on the border have helped. Liberals
would love to see it as, "see, we told you illegal immigration wasn't
that big of a deal" but it is. Obama wants to do away with Arizona's
tough law, yet I think it's the toughness that is working. Maybe we just
need to do away with Obama?
Everyday I see a different number on these studies. The department of homeland
security put the number of people here illegally at 11.5 last week. Compared
with 2008 that showed 11.6 it seems like we are not seeing a loss, but remaining
steady. If people are going home to Mexico, where are they coming from to
If this is true, and that is a really big "if" then it is good news. However, this report smacks of opportunistic creative accounting to
throw out to help Obama's reelection. The truth of the matter is
that there should never be ANY illegal aliens in the U.S. And, if a few do
manage to sneak in, they should be tracked down and sent back home (whereever
that might be).Legal immigrants are a welcome addition to our
country, and there is a process for that. Anyone whose first act on U.S. soil
is to be here illegally is not welcome. Period!Secure the borders!
6.1 million is 6.l million too many. Funny that the economy is so awful even
the Mexicans aren't coming.Unemployment still above 8% 3 years
after barack said we needed to spend 787 billion to prevent it from reaching
8%Barack is one big OOPS
Does anyone really believe this? Maybe in 2002 there were 7 million. Not today
and that is not counting the anchor children. Give us a break DN. We are smarter
I see the administration's plan to combat illegal immigration has worked:
Make the U.S. economy so bad that illegals stop coming here.If we
can get Obama a second term, maybe he can make the economy even worse and
we'll actually see Americans illegally immigrating to Mexico in search of a
The Department of Homeland security did a study in January of this year. They
found 11.5 million people here illegally, compared to 11.6 last January. They
also found that 59% of the people here illegally were from Mexico. That is 6.785
million people, or 215,000 people less than 2007 and the same as last year. PEW needs to buy a calculator.
