"apologist"? Hardly. Full blown kiss up is more like it riley. And you kept referencing the players they dumped as "not pac12
caliber". Here's a little news for you, the pac12 is a bad conference.
If those players weren't "pac12 claiber" then they aren't
college basketball caliber at all. Quit trying to make it sound as if they just
weren't up to snuff in the conference as if the conference is any good.
Coach made a disgusting move by pulling the scholarship of that young man who
has had some problems with an unusual growth spurt. Shows nothing to me. Unlike
when the Oklahoma State football coach stood up for his player a few years ago
in a press conference and parents want thei sone playing for that kind of man, I
would never want my son playing for Utah. That move is going to haunt the Utah
program and it's too bad because I was hoping the Utes would become a power
The goes Duckhunter again - freaked out that Utah and the PAC 12 are continually
trying to improve themselves - his greatest fear! If those players were
"dumped", why are they still on campus, still working out with the
coaches, and getting help from the Utah staff to find positions on teams at
other schools?just-a-fan, you make it sound like the kid's
health problems were minor. He broke his back last summer, didn't play 1/2
of the season, and is facing surgery on both knees. Yeah, right, just a little
"growth spurt". If the Jazz traded for a player with that many medical
problems, would you be upset if they cancelled the trade? "I'd never
want my son playing for the Jazz".That move isn't going to
haunt Utah. It will be forgotten quickly. And the funny thing about the
backlash they got on national comment boards? Most of the commentators
don't know the difference between Utah and BYU.
Pac-12 caliber? Weber, Utah State, or BYU would would win that conference. The
Utes need to rise at a Utah level.
Riley you're the biggest apologist out there for the utes. Your body of
work and articles scream bias and an unability to be objective. What
would your be writing if BYU had 19 players leave the program in three years?
You wouldn't be saying, "Meh, rear view mirror". I'm tired of the journalsitic double standard. There is a problem at
Utah, a big one. And all the fans are hoping of they ignore it, it will go away.
Reporters are afraid to ask the tough questions, or even question the decision
making, unless it's coming out of Provo. When that happens journalistic
integrity suddenly gets a huge bump.
SoonerUte, I was in agreement with you until you concluded by saying, "Most
of the commentators don't know the difference between Utah and BYU"
SoonerUte, do you not see a difference between a professional team like the
Jazz, whose job it is to provide a profit for its investors, and a collegiate
team, like the Utes, whose job it is to provide an education for its team
Let's ask all you Cougar Fans on a Utah thread. What is worse have a kid
spend 4 years at a school and then dump him for a better athlete? Or Tell a
kid we are going in a different direction from the start? Y fans will say the
latter and Utah fans will say the opposite. I think Coack Krysko should have
dumped them all last year and started over like he is doing this year. Change
is hard but needed in life! Good luck to both schools!!!
Bill,"Some of you will shake your heads and say it's much of the
same thing all over again, and that I'm just some sort of an apologist for
the staff."So, instead of calling you the "Voice of the
Utes" I guess we'll call you the "Apologist for the Utes."
Isn't that something of a demotion?
@HegdehogIt's not a demotion, it is simply one and the same.
Ducky,Arizonia and UCLA are ranked 1 and 2 for the top recruiting
class of 2012. Both are projected to be ranked in the top 20 to start the
season. The PAC12 has and will continue to collect the elite talent throughout
the nation. The fact that a horrible Utah team is beating out the Zoobs, Zags
and St. Mary's for recruits tells you everthing you need to know.
Good to see Hedgy and Ducky on speaking terms.I'm pretty sure
that UCLA got the top recruit in the nation. Right? To say that the PAC 12
conference is "not any good" just shows lack of understanding,
basketball knowledge and pure jealousy. The fact is, the PAC 12 has sent more
players to the NBA than almost any other conference. I have faith in
Krystko. I don't like to see kids not work out but atleast he is not
settling. Get the talent you need coach!
hedgehog"Arizonia and UCLA are ranked 1 and 2 for the top
recruiting class of 2012."Utah has fallen from being a top level
program to a program that lives in the reflected light of once top programs.Name the recruits (PLURAL) that Utah beat out the Cougs, Zags and Saint
Mary's for???The truth is BYU and Utah compete for very few
common recruits and most of the recruits BYU gets don't even list Utah as a
school of interest. Keep living in your dream world; that's all you got.
hedgehog,Your fiction comments are funny.
I'm glad to hear that the players are still around the program and that the
staff is working on finding them somewhere to play. I think the coaching staff
has done a good job in a very difficult position trying to bring in better
talent for next years team. Every player on the team knew the
situation last year. Coach K was hired pretty late in the recruiting season
last year so he had to fill spots with whoever he could find. This year was
basically a tryout for most of these guys. It's laughable to
hear all of the typical byu "fans" on this Utah article claiming they
know what is going on with the Utes. I know the WCC isn't very exciting
but maybe you could follow your ballroom dancing team instead of taking time to
post on every Utah article. It's a great time to be a Ute and it
only gets better!
@qwestyAll we have to do is read the paper and we know just as much
as any of you. @hedgieSo now all you've got is
trying to claim a couple of has been programs as your own since utah is so bad?
utah has come up on the short end of the recruiting to BYU so many times over
the last 10 years that it is laughable. utah has gotten exactly 1, yes that is
correct 1, recruit that both pursued. BYU has gotten litterally all of the
others. That is why utah is a joke of a program, possibly the worst program in
all of D1 basketball, and BYU is a perenial NCAA tourney team. LOL!
This is a serious question. Do any of you really believe the Krysko and crew
are continuing to work with the athletes and that these a mutual decisions
between players and coaches? The basketball program is deplorable on all
levels. I refuse to believe what I hear over what I can obviously see.
@QuesoPerfected"It's a great time to be a Ute and it only gets
better!"Translation: We've hit rock bottom and it
can't get any worse than it is now.
