"here was never any discussion... That was just how it had to be."This article seems to say the exact opposite of what a great conference
talk today suggested. Giving people responsibility step by step is appropriate.
I was thinking the same thing as "A Voice of Reason". Then I thought,
there is so much that is true.I was raised by an uninvolved father,
and a fierce, authoritarian, negative-reinforcement mother. I did not fare well
in my life until the last few years. Worse, I became my mother to my
children.I hope that as I moved forward in the new path I have
chosen, I will be bale either restore or create better relationships with them;
and that this terrible cycle be broken.My mother acted the way she
did because of things that happened in her life. I did the same. I
wish I'd had the guidance and wisdom of someone who knew better than I how
to raise my own.What was said yesterday - give your child
responsibility; let them make their own decisions (depending on age); hold them
accountable; raise them so they can make good decisions...the best parenting
advice I've ever heard.To all the wounded...things can change.
