I don't expect the Pac-12 will have this poor a showing nationally ever
again. First, because the talent indeed was down this year, and is looking to be
much better already next. And second, because I think the selection committee
has realized that they underestimated the conference this year. The MWC, WCC and
Pac-12 all advanced only one team past the round of 64, but the difference was
the Pac-12 had less teams than either of the other western conferences. And now
the Pac-12 is cleaning house in the NIT with the other bubble teams
(Northwestern, Marshall, Miami, Ole Miss, Mississippi St, Tennessee) not putting
up much of a fight.
